I purchased this hairdryer and really liked what it does to my hair!! Leaves it salon perfect! The problem is, that after a year, it died! After some researching I found out it's a CONAIR product, so I called them and was informed that it has a 4 year warranty. I sent it to CONAIR and they replaced it... This (the death of the dryer) has happened 2 more times, so now, after 3 years+, I have decided I will buy something else!

The product is great if it's within your budget and you might get lucky and have it live for a long time!!

Read some reviews here and I am so glad to hear its not only me. I bought this blower and let me tell you I WAS IN LOVE. It does it's job. I have super curly hair, and I couldn't believe that I didn't have to iron it afterwards. That's how good it is! BUT after a year, it died out. Ugh... Thinking I maybe got a bad one, I bought ANOTHER one of course! It's good! BUT THEN...a year later, same thing. My blower went.Coincidence? I thought maybe it was possible. But after reading these reviews, I am not the only one. Its unfortunate because I really love this blow-dryer. I just wished it would last longer than a year. It's pointless. I have to invest in a different blower now. If you want a blower that will last you for ONLY 1 YEAR, then by all means buy it. But if you want a blower that will last you longer than that, I advise you to buy another one. YES its that good, but really it's not if it doesn't last. Any good reviews that you see here haven't owned it for a year yet --GUARANTEED. But they won't be very happy when they get there. Another con is the coating. I had to wrap my blower with a cloth or towel to prevent the coating from coming off. It looks old and dirty and hideous unless you protect the coating. No joke, if you don't, it will come off. But who want to sit there and wrap it every time? It was a pain. But hey, I figured I'd give you my 2 cents being an owner of this for 2 years and owning 2 of these blowers. Bad investment overall. $60 x2 blowers = $120 on something that lasted me 1 year per blower which was a total of 2 years? I don't think so. Buy a blower for that much money that will last you many years. Not this...

The hair dryer works fairly well. I don't have a complaint about how it dries. My complaint is how it's built. The red coating is coming off, and it's a sticky mess. And no, it's not "just dirty". I dont even use product in my hair until after my hair is dry, so is not that something is coming off my hands and dissolving it.

It's yucky, but it still works, so I feel bad buying a new one.

It's like an extra large hair clip. When I saw it on a Taiwanese show it's supposed to shape the bangs but my bangs looks exactly the same after usage with the unnecessary dent in the hair from the clip. Also, it's sorta flimsy-looking.

This straightener is my first straightener. I have pretty curly hair down to around my shoulders, and the first time I straightened my hair was with a friend who had a very expensive straightener (around 150 dollars, I think). My hair was beautiful, and I was determined to do it on my own again. So I bought this.

The straightener does the job. It takes a long time, but it does the job. However, even if my hair is perfectly straight, within three to five hours, the ends are curling up again. By the next day, my hair looks limp and unmanaged, because it's half straight-half curly. By the third day, I am so sick and tired of it that I wash it.

It could very well be that I am not using it correctly. I have never straightened my hair alone before, and the last few times with this straightener have not come out well. If it is due to my own inexperience, then it may very well be a great straightener. My hairdresser recommended it, not having tried it, but having a friend of a friend who had. I would recommend this straightener just because it does do the job if you only need it for a special occasion for about a day, and it's not too expensive, but if you're going to be straightening your hair regularly for long periods of time, I would find something else.

I am a black woman with natural (non chemically treated) hair. This dryer dries my shoulder length, thick hair in 10 minutes. I use this with my Denman hairbrush and it straightens my hair well. If I want my hair to resemble yaki texture/straight hair, I simply flat iron it (about a 20 minute process) and I'm good to go. I did a few months of research before finally deciding to purchase this dryer. I am very satisfied with my decision. This is the first time that I have been satisfied with my "at home" hair results. You know a dryer is the real deal when it includes a disclaimer that reads, "do not use on small children or invalids"!!!

I suggest you don't waste your cash on those expensive hair dryers when you can buy this one. It comes in the ceramic/tourmaline design that is popular now, but more importantly, this dryer's wattage is much higher than most hair dryers out there (and I've looked!). The higher the wattage, the more air it can move around...and that means faster dry times. I've only used this a couple of times, so I don't know how long it will last. So far, so good.

I (originally) ended up rating this 3 stars only because it dries my shoulder length hair so fast at top speed and top heat. Normally I would have rated this 2 stars but this thing blows everything away on drying speed but only on the fastest and hottest settings. This model puts out a very low heat at the the low setting either air speed. Too low to be useful for anything. On the other end you can cook your hair or self at the higher temperature and maybe even hurt your hearing if you are not careful. The lower fan with higher heat setting may not please others that need this for styling because it will cook your hair if you don't keep it far away. At low flow on high heat I think it is too dangerously hot. When the air flow is at max and the heat full up, only then the dryer gets real hot and safe because the jet blast is so hard. I suppose the reason for that may be that with the super fast air flow nobody would burn themselves accidentally. Whatever they did, I get my hair dry so fast on the super hot super fast speed its crazy. I swear my shoulder length hair dries completely in under 4 minutes. I only use it at max/max for me and at slow/low it is too weak and not hot enough to dry my dog and low speed hot is too hot for a 4 lb. dog. At full speed this thing has a very powerful flow of air and is also Jet engine fast and cannot be used on my dog which is 1/2 the reason for me needing the dryer. The low speed high heat would cook my dog and me. This dryer is smaller and lighter than the Andis 82005 Pro I list below but the Andis is hotter at all settings but the air flows are set correctly and I would have got that again except they wouldn't ship where I live (at the time I had to replace dryers) so I got this instead. I would have preferred to buy the Andis 82005 Pro again instead of this.

It must run at the highest air flow level to get the highest heat safely from the dryer but do not aim it directly at your ears for long while on full blast. This thing BLASTS the air out and the flow is so strong it could damage your ear if aimed improperly either by air pressure or noise from the airflow over the ear. That's probably why my hair dries so fast. I've only been using this 2 weeks now so I'll give the long run rating later. What I do wish this dryer would do is dry at a higher heat on low heat and low air flow. It's too weak for me otherwise as I don't do styling or anything like that. On low speed high heat it's simply too hot. I just dry my hair without styling so I guess it fulfills my needs even faster than normal. I prefer the lower settings on the Andis for my dog and since I buy for my use and my dog's this doesn't fulfill my needs for use with my pooch. Its not hot enough on the lower heat for a professional dryer. I remind you that I only use this full blast full heat now. This dryer could have gotten more stars from me but the only setting I find useful is full heat at full speed. Anything else seems useless to me.

My Andis 82005 Pro was a great dryer but was bigger and heavier than this one. I used it (the Andis) about 2 to 3 times a week for 2 years. The sucker died right after the 2 year mark. The electric safety plug bit the dust. I would have bought that one or a better Andis in a heartbeat instead this one but they won't ship Andis here any more. They'll only ship this and and some other crud brands :( here now.

1/24/13 Its later. I have purchased another Andis (lower end model than last time) because I want a dryer with more range than just one useful setting for me. The sellers are sending Andis models to where I live again. Now I wish I hadn't bought this Ovente X3 and I'll be donating it to a shelter to someone who needs a hair dryer and can't afford one.

1/28/13 I got the Andis a few days ago. Now I don't know if I prefer the Andis over the super fast dry from this. The Andis has many better heat options but I think the speed in drying has me spoiled. I guess I need to change my rating to 4 stars for speed in drying.

***I forgot to mention that this item was either never submitted to Underwriter Laboratories or failed the UL seal of approval.

The hair dryer worked very well, until the cool shot button got stuck and now there is only cold air emitted. Next, the hair dryer kept tripping the circuit and blowing the circuit. It's a shame since the dryer was quick. Don't buy this unless you want to replace your hair dryer in a couple of months.

While overseas I had the same one which was 220V it worked great for us and my wife who has long hair loved it, it , I also was very happy with it, relatively quit (compared to similar products) long cord. I was searching in Amazon for a hair dryer after 2 died on us within teh first year of purchase and was surprised to find a 110V version of Ovente. It arrived promptly and it is the same great quality as the on ewe had overseas only 110V. This is a salon type product and well worth the price.

It took almost 2 weeks for the product to arrive. Double the time estimated when I ordered. When I received the product it was in a makeshift leftover, reused box. The box was smashed and the interior product box was smashed as well. The shipper was very negligent. Do not blame the postal method. The product should have been packaged properly and should have been sent in a timely postal fashion. I like the air brush wand, yet repeatedly the brush attachment gets stripped and it just turns around without the secured reenforcement. Very dissatisfied with the shipper. Somewhat dissatisfied with the quality of the air brush. Very unfortunate.

I bought this hot air brush and the size is perfect. I haven't been able to find one with a large barrel. However, even on high, the air is not hot enough to style like it should, it just blows the hair and makes it frizzy instead of setting it in waves. I was very disappointed.

My older model hot air curling brush had a release button so that the barrel would turn and your hair never got tangled. That's the main reason I purchased this Helen of Troy model. 2 problems: 1) the bristles aren't long enough and the brush part can barely grasp my shoulder-length, fine, straight hair (unlike my old unit); and 2) it made my hair noticeably frizzy. Very disappointing and I will be purchasing one of the non-turning ceramic/tourmaline models that promises not to frizz your hair.

Maybe there is some kind of effect they are trying to get, but there are many other flat iron sprays that don't have alcohol in it.

It's a good spray, though. It does smell good, but when I flat ironed with it, my hair was dry like straw.

I found the only way this works and leaves my hair nice is by air drying. Probably because the alcohol evaporates with the water, as my hair dries.

Anyway, glad to know others had success. I made the mistake of spraying a bit of this on my hair while dry, thinking it would give my hair a burst of moisture as my hair was frizzing a bit, and my hair parched up really nastily.

I'd recommend this to someone with normal/oil hair. Mines normal/curly hair, and it's humid where I live.
