I used this curling iron once, and it's going to be returned. The on/off buttons depress much too easily and are placed right where you hold the handle. Hence, every time I rolled my hair, it turned off. The heat control dial is also ill-placed. I started on level 10, but by the time I was done curling my hair, it was on 20! The clip does not hold hair very tightly. I have medium thick hair, and each time I "rolled", it would slip right out. Very frustrating!

The temp control is on the side and the on/off switch is on top. Both locations are in the way of the user who is handling the curing iron. The on/off switch is VERY easy to press during usage so you frequently end up turning the unit off. The heat control is also in a BAD location on the side, right where the thumb is positioned for styling the hair.

The curling iron arrived super quickly and I am very impressed with it's ease of use. The only disappointing feature is that the on & off switches are right where you "clamp on" the curling iron, so it's kind of frustrating when you keep accidentally turning it off. I've usually opted to buy the less-expensive curling irons, and I've found that they last only about a year or so before something (usually the spring) breaks. This time, I decided to spend a little more money and try the Solano curling iron. Since no one had reviewed this product before, I read reviews of the curling iron on other websites and was impressed by the positive feedback it had received. I chose this product because (1) it uses ceramic tourlamine heating technology (which is recommended by a lot of hair experts because it evenly distributes the heat), (2) it has an auto-off feature (I've occasionally forgotten to turn off my curling iron in the past), and (3) the heat setting is adjustable. Also, I didn't read any complaints about ceramic on this curling iron flaking off or people getting their fingers burned on the end of the barrel, which I liked.

I purchased the 1-inch barrel version of this, and since I started using it, my hair hasn't gotten snagged on the barrel and the curling iron has been comfortable to hold and use with either arm. This curling iron seems durable and well-made. I have fine, thin hair, and curling my hair at a lower temperature using this curling iron certainly seems to help eliminate split ends and flyaway hair issues. My hair has been easy to curl and seems to have more body, which is great! Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to other people. It's worth spending a little more money to get something that will work well and last.

I'm a stylist and thought this iron would be a good investment being Solano and a bit more expensive. It is very nice and heats up fast. However it is really heavy which is a major downfall when doing hair all day. Also it has a little resting nub on the top of the iron that I find gets caught on the hair when releasing a curl. Fantastic iron for hair at home but not for a busy salon

I had been looking around for a decent priced, quality curling iron that is less damaging to my hair. There were only two reviews on Amazon of this particular product, one by a hairdresser, and based on those two I felt it was worth purchasing. I like the fact that I can change the temperature to achieve different curls; the higher the temperature the stronger the hold is of the curl. I do find that the buttons to change the temperature are somewhat easy to accidentally hit, but to me, it is not something I really feel is much to be upset about. I have only used it twice, as I just received it, so I may be able to learn to avoid the buttons by familiarizing myself with it. I am thrilled to have this size barrel iron; it is the exact size curl that I had hoped to achieve.

In the box is a warranty slip that I can send in, or create an account online to put it under warranty, but even after I created the account I have been unable to put my password in to finish registering it. I hope this is a temporary site issue, and I intend on mailing in the warranty.

Nice and light, heats up fast! I like that the cool tip stays cool even on the highest setting. I like that my arms dont hurt by the end of the styling session... the lightness made me think it might've been flimsy and cheap but its not!!! It does not include the heat proof glove tho... but i dont use the one i have anyway so its not a prob for me!!! I'm glad i bought it!

I actually have curly hair that I can wash and leave to dry. However, I can't blow-dry it or it frizzes and it takes several hours to dry = a massive pain. So, while I don't use this everyday, it is an amazing way for me to add curls. It heats up in around 2 minutes (at the highest temperature) and takes me 5 minutes to do my entire head of hair. It is also reallllly small and light, so sometimes I take it in my bag to work (especially since it cools down in about 10 minutes), if I have a function after, and I can spruce my hair up in 3 minutes. After a quick touch up, the curl lasts all night. You can use the far end to get a tight curl, or the far top for a big/loose curl, or space it out down the barrel for a natural look. You can leave them tight, they will actually hold!!, or you can run your fingers through some and get the perfect curl/beachy wave look. I also use this to make a really cute ponytail when I have no desire to have hair in my face all day. I absolutely love this product, in case you can't tell, and all for under $50!!!

its a good product and heats well. my hair is very straight and slips off. i don't like how my ends look once styled but that's just because my hair is extremely straight. i would recommend for a person who has more body or textured hair.

I love the finish that this hot air brush gives my hair...IF I have time to use it! It seems to overheat, and if it is cut off, it will not come back on. The directions say that if this happens, unplug and wait 5 minutes. I have found that 5 minutes is not long enough...and besides, who has that much time? Evidently the wattage is too high...it definitely needs to be re-done. I will not purchase another one, nor will I recommend buying it.

Just opened a new salon and wanted something sleek yet effective. Found these on Amazon and fell in love with the look & price.

Items shipped fast but hoods were cracked during shipping. I called customer service and the hoods were replaced within 2 business days. Able to open the salon with beautiful updated equipment and my clients and staff are so pleased. Older clients are a little leery of sitting under them but I still have the old fashion hooded dryers to cater to the older clients.

Drying is very quiet and the temperature range is great. I will definitely purchase more as my salon grows! Thank you so much for your excellent customer service.

Directions could have been a bit easier but my husband did a great job hanging them.

(Sidenote: If you are not a handy person, get the dryers professionally installed so that you wont have injuries to you or your clients. I've heard horror stories about improper installation.)

I really love the space saving abilities. I am in a small studio so all the room I can get is good. The dryer itself had a crack face shield when it arrived. I can't believe how POWERFUL this hair drier is for its size! I spotted this in the Target luggage section for about the same price and loved it at first sight and had to have it, lol!!!! It's the tiniest dryer I've ever seen!!! It almost fits in the palm of my hand, lol. Folded, it's 4-5 inches long (not counting the cord).

I've been using it for about a week now just to test it out before my trip abroad and it's surprisingly very strong. No weird smells as someone else mentioned... maybe their particular product has an issue. So far mine is working great. My hair is shorter so I'm not worried about how long it will take... but this thing is pretty strong. I'm done in minutes.

The other great thing is that it has "dual voltage." I had to read up on this because I haven't traveled in a while and I guess a whole lot of electronics and stuff like this is made dual voltage todayso check your product and educate yourself. Just look at this hair dryer, for example, and it will say 125V / 250V on the handle. This means it will work anywhere where the voltage falls in that range... most if not all of the world. BUT YOU WILL NEED AN ADAPTER when going abroad with this.

So here is the tricky part if this stuff is new for you, too... you DON'T need a converter (more expensive) for anything that's dual voltage... just an adapter. The adapter is just the little plug part that goes into the wall so you can plug it in. The converter is usually bigger and box-like and more expensive. It converts the voltage. You can find adapters for just a few bucks. Some dual voltage products have a little switch you have to bother with and it's dangereous if you forget to change that switch... no switch and no worries with this hair dryer!!

Just Google dual voltage and you can read up on it... and the difference between converter and adapter. All these things are helpful to know when traveling abroad.

I love this thing... best thing I bought for travel recently since finding a hand-held luggage scale!

I originally jumped the gun and gave this 5 stars. Read my updates below.

12/20/12 Update: This survived a trip to rural Bolivia and worked great... so long as I used it on low. When I turned it on high it was like a crazy loud rocket ship and I thought it would take off or start fire... it was frightening, lol. Yes, I did use my adapter, and it's possible it behaved this way because of the junkie old house with questionable wiring I was living in while in the mountains. Later I lived in a second, very modern house in the country's modern capital and it wouldn't plug into the wall at all in any part of the house!! Yes, it was the right plug shape and I have no idea what that was about, lol... again, the randomness is possibly the result of the house and the country I was in. Who knows. But I couldn't use it at all the last couple of months of my travels and that wasn't good.

I will continue to use it here at home in the USA where it works perfect. Maybe better for local travel and still a great size if you have limited luggage space. But I am changing my rating from 5 to 3 because the darn thing nearly gave me a heart attack the few times I accidentally put it on high while trying to turn it off. I am still highly recommending this product for travel, but taking it abroad may be questionable.

1/15/13 UPDATE: I barely started using it back home a month and the damn thing started making crazy noises and I thought it would explode or catch fire. It basically went dead. I tossed it in the garbage. I am now changing my 3 star rating to 1 star. I was wrong. Turns out this was a piece of unreliable crap and potentially dangerous unreliable crap after all... didn't even last me a year. And I barely used it!!!

It smooths my fine yet frizzy curly hair while still boosting shine and curl. I like using it with the Oi hair oil serum. It also smells fantastic. make sure and don't pull it all the way down on your head. you want some space at the top so air can fill it up and move around. very compact and does the job. you need a big head or it is likely to blow off your noggin. it works as is for my large melon, but i think you could easily attach 2 clips and a strap under your chin to keep it on for smaller headed types.

I bought this to wet set my hair with rollers. Although it does get rather hot on the highest heat setting, I found by using the low heat setting, (warm) on my hand held dryer, it was quite comfortable and dried my African American hair in 30 mins.

This product works as you would expect. It gets the air flow over the entire area, but the one thing I had a problem with was: the hot air flow was directed on my forehead and the sides of my face. I just placed wet paper towels folded on those area. Works really well. Good buy, shipping was excessive in my opinion. I did search in my local area for one, but no luck.

I just got this trimmer tonight, but I already love it! I got it for two purposes: to trim my beard down so that I have a 5 o'clock shadow and to manscape, and boy does it manscape! This trimmer passes the Ball-sack Test of Smooth Shaving! But if you're not looking to shave your nads, it also works great anywhere else, without chafing or damaging skin, and it is a close trim!

I've used an Andis Master Clipper for beard trimming for a few years. The Master Clipper is bigger than this trimmer, but rather heavy. I decided to try this trimmer out to see if it was a bit less tiring. It is definitely more manageable. However, the teeth are rather smaller than the Master Clipper, so with curly beard hair it takes several passes to get everything clipped where the Master Clipper generally gets everything on the first pass. The combs for this clipper are much better for beard trimming than the Master Clipper combs though. If I had to recommend one or the other for beard trimming I think I'd go with this clipper.

I bought this flat iron and immediately fell in love with it. It is sleek and works amazing! I have medium length hair that is curlyi blow dry a little first and then use the flat iron-it works amazingly!!

I traveled to Dominican Republic recently and it is very humid there I have been there before and could never straighten my hair but i used this flat iron and it stayed straight throughout the humid nights.

This is my first flat iron so I can't compare it to other brands or styles. After considerable research, I did look for certain features, however, and I am glad that I did. It has variable temperature control which is nice (actually, essential) if you have fine, thin or processed hair. I use a setting of 360 on my fine hair and it works well. The plates are floating, which makes it easy to get a good grip. It heats up fast. The 10 hour shut-off time seems a bit excessive -wouldn't one or two hours be sufficient? -but at least it does shut off. I knew about the poor button placement before I purchased it, but figured that the locking feature would make it less annoying. Well, it didn't. I am still struggling with that, constantly changing the temp or turning the thing off. My main complaint, however, is a total lack of instructions! I guessed at what temperature to use and how quickly to move the iron through my hair for straightening. I know it can be used for curling, but my efforts in that arena have totally failed. Still, I am happy with the implement, which I use only for a final smoothing of my 'do -I can achieve shiny body with little fuss.

I used this blower recently on my Rott Shepherd mix and it took forever. I eventually got get up and stopped, leaving him to air dry. I towel dried him first so he was not dripping wet and after 20 minutes of blow drying one side of him I quit. Trying it out today on an even fluffier dog so we'll see.
