After returning my second blow dryer to Target, I went on a short quest to find a quiet (or at least relatively so) blow dryer. Thanks to the amazon reviews here, I found it. The Centrix Q is MUCH quieter and the sound of the dryer doesn't have that high pitched frequency of the cheaper ones. It has a lower pitch in tone, in its sound, which I really prefer. On the slow speed, it is very quiet. On the higher speed, it is relatively noisier, but not bad at all. It also dries very quickly on the higher speed so I can dry my short hair in about 4 minutes. Finally, the weight of the dryer is light. I also like how they distributed the weight; it makes it very easy to handle. LOVE this dryer! It was worth every penny! Note to others if you search for this dryer on youtube you can hear its sound in some of the reviews. I found that very helpful as well.

I don't understand how anyone could write a review about this thing and say it's not the quietest high-quality hairdryer available! I research my purchases extensively--both online (reviews) and locally--and this was no exception. Went to local stores to do the hands-on testing after regretably purchasing a FHI Nano 2000 based on reviews and subsequently returned (loud, too hot, not impressed at all). Tried MANY and narrowed it down to the Chi, Rusk, and the Centrix (which like the FHI was unavailable for me to try locally). The Chi was quiet but had only one heat setting which was too hot for my twin 5 yr-old daughters! The Rusk Speed Freak was impressive--tied for most quiet of the ones on display and seemed well built, but the other one it tied with was the SAME one we are replacing--the Revlon T Studio (less than half the price). Was really hoping for QUIETER and BETTER. Also, while the Rusk has 3 heat settings, the low was too low and the medium was a bit too scorching for my skin. Took a chance on the Centrix and am VERY impressed! The packaging screamed top-of-line product, the hair-dryer feels extremely well made, and the best part......ran in to the bathroom and plugged it in next to the T studio for a side by side comparison. The result: OMG....not even CLOSE!! SOOO much quieter! My daughters and I can have a conversation or listen to music while we dry, and I don't have to worry about the long term toll this ritual is having on my family's hearing! My wife's hair absolutely looks healthier and she does not find it heavy or cumbersome in the slightest (5'4", 95lbs!). The middle heat setting is PERFECT and it dries quickly too! You will NOT regret this one. Hope this helps some folks!

First off... don't expect silence, as it still is a hair dryer with a motor and fan. But this is certainly quieter than any hair dryer I have ever used. Those expecting 'whisper quiet' or silence should wait for Dyson to come up with a $500-$600 magic hair dryer. With this, you can carry on a normal conversation, without raised voices while using it.

It was immediately apparent on my initial examination... the key to the quiet design is that it includes a 'Squirrel Cage' type fan (see the images I published above). This type of fan, due to its larger diameter, requires lower revolutions-per-minute to produce the same air flow as a straight through in-line fan. With the slower turning, this makes for an inherently quieter motor requirement. The audible frequencies of this unit are, therefore, in a lower 'hushed' range. This is also how central heat/air conditioning units produce air flow, also very quietly.

Some have mildly complained/commented that this is a 'big' hair dryer. It is true that this is no compact unit, nor was it intended to be. it is a salon size hair dryer. It is a bit bigger (wider) than most, but it is a fair trade-off for the quietness. It is not obtrusively large compared to other full sized dryers and, in my opinion, is not at all heavy for it's size. It, however, needs to be wider than others in order to include this fan which, as I noted before, is larger in diameter and is oriented perpendicular to normal dryers.

Another contributer to air noise in general is air turbulence. This dryer has more air intake area, which should contribute to less turbulent flow of air being drawn in. Any restrictions in air flow cause turbulence, and will result in noise. The perfect example being the 'speed-booster' included with the unit, which helps to produce 50 mph air-speed according to the literature. All it is is a restrictor oriface that goes on the front air outlet. The forcing of more air through the smaller exit does make the air travel faster, but at the expense of more noise due to turbulence. It kind of defeats the purpose if this dryer for me, but it works in case you need more air speed. I don't expect frequent use of this.

The rocker switches feel of higher quality than on typical department store brands, but this, as well as the overall quality and design, should be expected of a dryer in this upper price range. As far as any negative reviews noting longevity problems, I can't speak to that as I only opened the box today. Time will tell, and if problem arise, can always come back for an update to this review. I expect longevity to maintain the 5 stars I have given it.

I believe it hits the design point spot-on for the intended product market. I am pleased so far with the initial product quality and design.

Honest reviews on Centrix Q Zone Quiet 1500 Watt Tourmaline Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer

I am somewhat disappointed in the amount of noise the hair dryer makes. While it is slightly less noisy than a regular dryer, it is not as quiet as I (or my husband) had hoped. It does lack that high pitch squeal often associated with dryers and emits a deep, less irritating humming sound! (I hope the description is helpful for those seeking peace and quiet)It does definitely dry hair faster.

Hopeful for a quiet, solid hairdryer, I ordered this direct from Amazon and received it quickly. I tested it out, and on full speed it was nice and quiet. I switched it to low, and there was a distinct buzzing/rattling sound, the kind that grates on my nerves. When I shook it the buzzing briefly stopped, but started again as soon as I held it steady.

Thinking I received a defective unit, I returned it, and quickly received the replacement with no hassle from Amazon. Unfortunately, the second unit had the same issue. It seems to be a design defect. I returned the second hairdryer for a refund.

On low our $20 hairdryer is quieter than this unit, and less annoying. One star.

The hair dryer I received is the exact model advertised. However, it is putting out well over the 100mG according to the Trifield Meter 100XE EMF Meter I bough at Amazon.com. It caused the meter to peg, so I can't tell you how strong the EMF's actually are. The meter scale doesn't go that high.

This is contrary to what is advertised: "The ECO8000 emits 4.1 mG of EMF." 100mG of EMF's is what my head would be receiving if I used this dryer. In addition, even 3 feet away from the dryer emits about 38mG. And using the Trifield meter to measure the electric field, there is also an electric field 60-70 volts A/C in the air 3 feet away.

I know the Trifield meter is good because I've tested it. And I'm using the 0-100mG range and reading the top scale for the electromagnetic field measurement. There is no mistake in the reading. The electric field is measured using the Electric range on the top scale. Again, no mistakie in the reading.

I compared it to my other hair dryer, the Conair IonShine 1875 model which puts out 1875 Watts. The readings are virtually identical, again conrtrary to the advertisement:. "The ECO8000 blows clean heat, which is heat without radiation. With 1,100 watts of power, equivalent in heat and blowing power to a standard 1,800 watt blow dryer, you can be health conscious without sacrificing performance. " Not True.

Other than that, the hair dryer works exactly as it should, great heat and air pressure. But I bought this hair dryer because of the advertised low EMF's. My Conair dryer still works perfectly so this costly dryer is being picked up by UPS for a free return and refund.

This review is for you if you are thinking of buying this hair dryer because of the advertised low EMF's, If you cannot measure the dryer, and you are not electrically hypersensitive so cannot feel the EMF's your hair dryer generates, you won't know difference. You may have just spenT a lot more money for dryer that is no different EMF wise than a traditional hair dryer.

I bought the dryer because I wanted something that didn't put out all the radiation. When I first turned it on, it emitted a mild odor and I thought there was something wrong with it. The smell went away almost instantly and I started to blow dry my hair. It's fantastic! It blows well, gets nice and hot and it takes me less time to dry than my Conair...that's for sure! I'm a very satisfied customer.

Most people do not realize how much electromagnetic radiation a typical hair-dryer puts out, and to make matters worse, this radiation is usually right next to your head. I don't think many people would stand with their head right next to a microwave oven while it was operating, but the amount of radiation you are exposed to from a typical hair-dryer is quite comparable. When my daughter had enough hair to need to use a hair-dryer I could not in good conscience allow her to be exposed to that much radiation, which is why I went online to see if there were alternatives. This Barbar dryer I bought entirely based upon reviews, and it has definitely lived up to its reputation. I won't repeat all the great things about it other than what I have already written about the aspects of radiation, but it does indeed live up to the hype. It also has a nice, solid build and feels like a good quality piece of machinery.

Honest reviews on Barbar ECO8000 Blow Dryer

When it worked, you could feel the cool air mixed in with the hot air, so just the center was warm and surrounded by cold. Then a few days later, lights would come on but no air. Wasn't happy with it at all. Amazon refunded money before we even shipped it back. Thanks.

I purchased this with the Toughen Up to make my nails stronger. They both work well together. The Toughen Up makes your nails stronger and the Super Shiny does make your nails shiny. Using both together does make your manicure last about a week. Don't hesitate to purchase both of these you will love them.

I bought this product in hopes that it would make my nails appear very shiny. I have not noticed any difference in the level of shine between this and any other top coats I own (such as Butter London PD Quick and Essie Good to Go). I actually wore different top coats on different fingers at the same time so that I could compare. The CND Super Shiny did not make the nails any shinier than any of the other top coats. Given the price and the fact that it is a CND product, I was expecting a lot more.

Honest reviews on CND Super Shiney Top Coat

This top coat is shiny, but I used it on a French pedicure and it changed the color of the white tips to a pinkish color.

It dries fast, but I will not use it again for a French manicure/pedicure which is all I ever have. Too bad. Sort of a waste of money.

This shiny topcoat really helps the applied polish last longer. I wouldn't be without it. My hands are in water a lot and Super Shiney really helps the polish to keep from chipping.

Even my hairdresser said that using these rollers are better for damaged hair than blow drying. I got a perm on my hair and the stylist damaged my hair badly. Trying to blow dry and iron my hair was causing more damage. I could smell the burning hair. So I had to get it cut off and start using the old fashioned rollers and regular hair drier. Perhaps I won't be bald after all. Thanks!

There was a complaint on this site about these rollers. Yes they can be uncomfortable (what we suffer for beauty :) ). Anyway, what they are good for is shorter hair that you have trouble wrapping around a roller and getting it to stay wrapped and then getting the roller itself not to fall out. If you don't have these issues, use the smooth roller with lid or the rollers with no lids at all. The lids will often leave a bendy mark at the beginning of the curl. But if you do not always want to use a curling iron, these can be great for difficult to curl hair. Air dry your hair (a setting gel or mousse helps) or use a blow dryer to speed things up (and some of us still have hood type dryers!).

I try to avoid completely panning products, because there's usually at least one positive feature that mitigates the negatives. Not so with these rollers. The description says they're made of "strong, non-breakable material." Yet two of them arrived ... wait for it ... broken. And although the description is certainly accurate in saying that the rollers "lock curls in place," it fails to mention that they do this by gripping your hair with fifty miniature pointy plastic spikes, which scratch your scalp while instantly tangling your hair into a dreadlock-worthy snarl. Too bad; otherwise these would have been the perfect solution. But for a buck sixty-five, I guess you get what you pay for. (Please note: This review in no way reflects the service I received from the seller, which was superb. I'd highly recommend them for any other product.)

This worked great for the first six months, but then the "ceramic" started peeling off. The plates look like metal underneath. Now it snags on my hair & I need to get a new one. Should have know this price was too good to be true for a Chi!

Best Deals on Farouk CHI GF1001BC Pink CHI Limited Edition Breast Cancer Awareness

I have very very naturally curly hair, and it is thick. I have tried numerous brands of flat irons and nothing works like a Chi. The life span on them seems to be about 5 years, at the 5 year mark the cord usually gets a short in it and you have to wiggle it and hold your mouth just right to get it to stay on. When mine quit, (got that one in 2007) I had to find one and find it quick, but I wasn't willing to pay the outrageous salon prices for one. In salons where I live, they retail for around $150-$175. So I immediately got on Amazon, I get a lot of items from this site. I wanted a pink one, and if possible a pink breast cancer one (my mom has been fighting her battle with it for 5 years now.)

When I came across this one I really liked it and the price was very reasonable. It is pink, and I couldn't make out the details from the picture posted. When it arrived I was very pleased. It is pink and it is covered in little shiny silver breast cancer ribbons all over it. I really like the design. I purchased it from the seller Beauty Concepts for $74.99 I believe. It is a limited edition iron and came with a nice pink Chi brand bag, it is pretty good sized. The flat iron is the genuine Farouk Chi brand, not a knock off. I have seen several that claim to be the Chi brand, but aren't as advertised. All the Chi irons I have had, had the standard on/off switch and indicator light. No dials to adjust the temperature, which wouldn't be helpful to me since my hair is so thick and curly that I would keep it on high anyway. This one is just like every other Chi I have owned (except the color and design) and works great. It is the 1" Chi, which is also all I have ever owned, so if the size description worries you, it shouldn't, it is a standard size. When this one hits the 5 year mark and dies (I say this because out of the 3 I have had, each lasted 5 years) I will definitely buy from this seller again if possible.

Honest reviews on Farouk CHI GF1001BC Pink CHI Limited Edition Breast Cancer Awareness

I have had this exact one since 2007 and am STILL using it!! After Countless times of dropping... countless trips to Europe, un-raveling it by simply swinging it out by the cord when it was wrapped up.. and it is still a champion and still working. I am going to try the Solia because it might straighten better after having this for 3 years, but this still works awesome! Might as well get another iron though in case... You wont be disappointed.. :)

The dryer fits my needs for two reasons. First, I needed a lightweight dryer because, at 68 years old, I found it challenging to style my hair with a heavy dryer. Second, I needed a powerful dryer to dry my hair in the shortest possible time. Presto! Conair 227 Lightweight Dryer gives me what I need.

I actually purchased this for my 12 year old daughter. It dries well and is easy to use. I have one qualm with it the cord is too short...it should be much longer.

Best Deals on Conair 227 Lightweight Dryer

I got this hair dryer instead of just getting a diffuser attachment for mine since it was so inexpensive. The hair dryer is chinsey, I don't know how else to describe it. Very light, but in a cheap way. The diffuser is all plastic and just spreads the air out a little bit. It's an effective shape, but since the air just goes straight through in to the "fingers" it's not really diffused. It just holds your hair so you don't have to. My biggest issue with this dryer is that it has almost no mesh over the intake. If you get your hair remotely close to it, it sucks it in and turns small portions at a time in to knotted twisted messes that cannot be untangled. The first time it happened, I had to cut the piece just to detach the hair dryer from my head. I felt like I was using a travel dryer from the 80's. it doesn't have very many settings and isn't very comfortable to hold. I went, almost immediately, back to my old dryer which weighs twice as much, but is more comfortable-not to mention that it doesn't eat my hair... If you have short hair, go for it, but if the ends if your hair will come anywhere near the intake if this dryer... Stay away!

Honest reviews on Conair 227 Lightweight Dryer

I ordered this item and it came in record time. It really is light weight, the color is so chic and I love the blow drying options on the hairdryer itself. A great buy!

I have a professional version of this which I use at our home in Asia. Unfortunately it won't work on our yearly trips home to the US, even with the power converter. I had bought two other brands (a conair and Vidal Sassoon) and was disappointed with the power and heat (despite the higher wattage!) and general qualityflimsy bristles that didn't hold the hair and than fell out. The Revlon on the other hand was a pleasant surprise. It is louder and the barrel is a little bigger, but the power, heavy ceramic coating, and quality bristles (firmer and well attached) more than made up for it. As a bonus you also get two brushes (1.5" and 1") as well as the dryer attachment. To be honest, I am not a pink person, and this was the least attractive of the group but the performance makes up for it.

If you are reading this review because you are considering switching to this type of dryerI highly recommend it. I had no talent using a brush and dryer at the same time, but have no problem using one of these to blow out my long haireither straight, waves or curls. This type of loose bristle brush is also much better than the plastic teeth or tight bristle 'brush' types. The loose bristle brushes hold your air tightly to the barrel while leaving lots of space for the hot air to dry it and the barrel to shape it. The ceramic is nice because it heats up fast and evenly, styling products also don't seem to stick or stain. Since you are pulling it through your hair, it also makes the cuticle lay down which gives your hair that soft shiny look. The 1.5" is best for long hair or to do body. The 1" is good for making curls. Good luck!

I'd been serching for a while for a hot air brush to replace my last one. I tried the Wigo Ceramic Brush but the bristles folded down when styling at the slightest pressure and I also tried the BaByliss Pro 2" ceramic ionic brush which oddly sucked hair into the intake vents while drying your hair. Ouch! Too bad I found others had the same complaint after I bought it.

This dryer works well, dries quickly, and leaves your hair shiny and healthy. It is comfortable to use and I haven't found a thing I don't like about it. Overall I'm very pleased and thinking of getting another to hold on to keep should this one ever need replacing.

I hate doing my hair, and to blow dry while holding a brush takes too much effort for me. Hence, based on that and the reviews here, I decided to try this product out.

Hair type: medium in thickness, very abused (colored, bleached, permed, relaxed, you name it, my hair has been through it all) chemically altered, damaged hair.

Pros:

Easy to use, lots of heating options, great attachments option with easy off button, gave me more volume at my roots, dries my hair quickly, brush doesn't eat my hair.

Cons:

made my hair very "poofy" looking, didnt get rid of much frizz, can tell with extended use, it would further damage my hair.

This item would have been returned since it did not work for me at all based on the cons, especially since I can tell if I used it often, it would further damage my already abused hair. Also, no matter how I used it, or what attachments I used, nor what product I used in conjunction with it, I could not get rid of the bigger than life hair look.

However, for my mother, who has very thick and healthy hair, it worked perfectly for her. It left her hair smooth (but her hair doesnt see much chemicals or product like mine.) and shiny. She's 62 years young (she really does not look like she's 62) and doesnt have any issues handling this, and not having to blow dry her hair with one hand and a brush in the other is a bonus for her.

So I guess it depends on what type of hair you have.

Unfortunately, it didnt work for me. Your welcome ma...can I can a refund from YOU?! lol

Honest reviews on Revlon RV446 1200 Watt Ion Select Ceramic Hot Air Kit

I have never owned a hot air brush dryer before, but I am so glad that I tried it. I find it much easier than blow drying with a regular hair dryer and brush and it leaves my hair soft and shiny. I looked around before buying this model and settled on this one because it had both a brush and curling/straightening attachment.

I purchased this hair styling tool at WalMart.

I was very excited about this purchase and thought I loved the product when I first brought it home. However, the heat is NOT adjustable. The blower can be turned to low, but the heat can't be adjusted unless you use the air only setting which defeats the purpose of this tool. The barrel gets VERY VERY HOT whether using low or high air flow!

I am fast, but not fast enough. The metal TOASTS my blond hair. It has actually turned my hair a darker shade and damaged my hair! While the damage did not all occur after one use, daily use has had a cumulative effect. Yes, I do use a protectant on my hair when using heat to style it and this tool still toasted my hair--it gets VERY VERY hot.

A BETTER product is the Helen of Troy air brush. The soft vinyl head does NOT burn my hair. Of course, I still try to be judicious about the use of any heated hair styling tools.

I also recommend Caruso hair setting systems for maximum curl without hair damage.
