I have been cutting my hair/beard for 13 years with one preferred discontinued model of Oster clippers. I couldn't find this model anymore, so I tried the AZTEQ clippers and I am fairly disappointed with it. While it did cut, the blade did not have enough back and forth travel so it tended to pull instead of cut my hair, unless I cut extremely slow. Even with adjusting the side screw knob, I could not get the clippers to cut well enough. I do not recommend this product. I wound up buying the fast feed Oster clippers and I am happy with the ease it cuts hair.

I initially posted the following as a comment to another review but it seemed likely to languish there forever unread. I was surprised to find that I could still post a review of my own despite having bought this device 5 years ago so here it is .... I hope you will pardon the duplication.

Shortly after I bought the Oster AZTEQ-11 I started having trouble with this device pulling my hair instead of cutting it, but since then I have found out what I need to do to make it work flawlessly. I hope you can do the same.

First you need to make sure the clippers are clean and well oiled before you use them. Hair will cause the blades to slow and can even bring them to a stop. The unit doesn't go silent regardless of how much or little the blade is moving and it's not obvious if/when the blade is stopped because the "equal and opposite reaction" causes the handle of the clippers to move when the blades are stuck together. All this adds up to one thing ... the first indication you have that there is a problem is usually the unit trying to pull one of your hairs out instead of cutting it. Be sure to check in between the two blades as tiny fragments can build up there that can't be seen unless you pry the two blades apart. You need the blades to be clean before you apply the oil.

The oil is also very important ... don't use the oil that comes with the clippers. Get a larger bottle so you won't have to worry about running out and be sure to apply it generously. The easier it is for the blade to move the lower the chance you'll feel like a plucked chicken by the time you're done.

If you are cutting thick hair or there is a lot of it you should also stop periodically and brush off the clippers to make sure they stay clear of cut hair and the blade stays in motion.

The last thing you should do is make sure the hair you're cutting is wet. The directions indicate that when cutting with this device the hair should be damp. I'm not sure exactly how wet hair can be and still be considered damp but I have a thick beard of thick hair which I trim no more than once ever 2-4 weeks. I generally splash my face so that my face and beard are dripping wet. I dry my face and pat my beard so I don't have water dripping down my chest. I make sure that my beard does not contain water that could drip out by running my fingers through it briskly. This leaves me with each hair wet enough to be cut but not wet enough to damage the clippers.

If you are having the problem I did you could simply buy another, more powerful set of clippers but if you follow my advice you may not have to. Trimming my beard is not easy but I do so now with no trouble and I'm still using the blade that came with the clippers when I bought them in 2008. 4 of the teeth on the blade have broken off but the blade still cuts well enough so long as I treat it right.

I recently purchased a Spornette Pico Brush, (2.5in diameter) from Amazon. I've been using this brush for 15 years and needed a new one. It works great on medium length hair. Your hair won't get caught in the brush like some do and I've tried many other brands. You don't need a curling iron or flat iron anymore if you use this brush with your blow dryer. I had thought that the 'ionic' thing was mostly hype, but started using this product a couple of years ago out of curiosity. My entire life, I have had naturally curly, flyaway hair that was annoyingly prone to frizzing and just generally difficult to manage. I wasn't sure if it was this dryer that had finally started smoothing out my hair, or if it was rather the newer conditioners and styling cremes I had found.

When the ionic brush dryer I was using recently 'died', I was unable to find a replacement in any local stores. So, instead, I bought one that looked exactly the same that wasn't ionic, thinking it really wouldn't make any difference. Boy, was I wrong!!! Immediately, I was again dealing with split ends, frizzies, and flyaway hair.

There HAS to be something to 'ionic' hairdryers that really DOES make a difference, as I changed nothing else. Being the scientific person that I am, I repeated this unplanned 'experiment' at least 3 times. When I use this product, my hair is noticeably silkier, shinier, and bouncier...with healthy waves that hold (I have somewhat thick hair.) The round brush/dryer style also dries my hair much quicker than the way I used to do it for years (with round brushes and typical pistol-style dryers), and with much less arm-fatigue. The heated air dries it from the 'inside out' which styles it at the same time, eliminating my previous need for the use of a curling iron or hot rollers to create soft waves/curls after drying.

I plan to keep a spare one hand for the next time one dies on me suddenly. (I feel like 2 years was a good life, considering the use it got.)

I highly recommend this hair dryer if you have hair like mine.

I've used hot air brushes for a couple years. This works better than my last. The low setting and the larger brush works better for me. The high setting blows the hair off the bristles. It's nice having the small brush option for different styles though. I believe my hair stays styled longer and without as much work and injuries using a hot air brush versus a curling iron.

I debated and debated about which hairdryer to buy, and finally, based on reviews, I chose this one. I waited until I'd used it a few times to review it, and here are my findings: This dryer does dry your faster, and I can get some really nice, smooth curls with it. I don't find it to be too loud, compared with the dinosaur of a dryer I was replacing when I bought this one. When I read in the reviews that people were having trouble avoiding the on/off switch while drying, I thought, "Ok, now that I know it, I won't do it". Well guess what? There's no way TO avoid it. Although it's no biggie, a better design is definitely in order. You WILL turn the dryer off by accident while using it. Now, the ionic part...I will have to say, my hair feels different when I use this, but, I'm not sure I like how it feels. However, it's winter, and I've got all kinds of static going on, so I'll have to reserve that opinion for later this year.

All in all, I would recommend purchasing this dryer. Price is right for a good dryer.

I still LOVE this dryer, and will always use only this type. Don't hesitate to purchase it...you'll love it too!

I'm so surprised that this doesn't have many reviews, I think this is the best hair appliance I've ever bought. I had the instyler, and could not get the hang of the roller going the "wrong way" on one side of my head. This solves that problem with a (left,off, right) button the switches the direction the roller goes in. It is sooooo easy to use. My hair is naturally curly, and it has always been a problem to straighten my hair so it naturally straight looking in the past. It would be stick straight and stick flat against my head if I pulled the straightener through, or the wave would just be pressed flat, but still be "bumpy" if I clamped the iron over each section. This does not happen with this styler. It has bristles that seperate the hair prior to straghtening, so it is flat and stays gripped well while you pull it through your hair. The plate is also curves, so it doesn't make your hair pin straight, it has volume. My hair looks like its been professionally blown out every time I use it, and its quick. Also, half the price of the instyler. Its a win/win!

The only con is that it is LOUD (as much as the inslyler) Whenever he's home when I use it, my husband asks me what the noise is, it sounds nothing like a blowdryer, more like a power tool.

This product works wonders for anyone w/ thick, course & dry hair...I was skeptical at first, as I've tried so many others only to be dissapointed, but amazed at the outcome. I'm latin and we tend to have very hard to manage hair, on top of that I color may hair which tends to dry/damage it; well this product did the trick and left my hair smooth, shiny, and managable. My hair is really think and wavy. I left my Chi 3 hours away and decided to buy this at the grocery store. For the price, ($50) I thought it would be a waste and would end up returning it. Well, I'll leave my Chi where it is and forget about it. I'm not sure how it would work on thin/fine hair....but on my super thick hair, it does awesomely! It doesn't make it look stick straight, like someone mentioned before...it has body to it but still straight. It works faster than the Chi too. I just run it through once and don't have to keep doing it like I would with the Chi. Great product!!

I have always been curious about the InStyler, but I've seen the reviews so I was never going to buy it. When I saw that this was similar but got much better reviews and was cheaper, I had to try it out! I am quite happy with it! I have slightly mixed African-American hair with tight soft curls and this works like a charm. Normally, when I want to straighten my hair I have to blow-dry it using a comb attachment, and then I have to use a curling iron or flat iron to get it really smooth. This process takes a long time and I hate doing it. The Conair ProStyler pretty much does both of these processes at the same time! Now, my styling time is cut in half! It's amazing! The only thing that doesn't make this a perfect 5 star is that it doesn't really straighten my roots so then I use the comb attachment on my blow dryer to take care of that. Other than that I really recommend this product!

I bought the ProStyler first, obviously because it was $50 cheaper and I normally don't drop $100 on a hair tool. I have VERY naturally curly hair and it is bra length with long layers and bangs. The ProStyler did a great job at straightening my hair, but BOARD straight, like a chi and with the casing, you cannot curl the ends, I don't care WHAT the packaging says!!! So if you're just wanting a good straightener, this will work great for you, however, I also noticed that if left my hair feeling and looking damaged at the ends instead of the "polished" healthy look like the InStyler. It also "crimps" the hair if you don't get with it and move fast enough!! Overall, it's not a horrible product and for some would be good if what you're looking for an easy straightener to use maybe once or twice a week vs daily due to the damage done on hair.

I returned this ProStyler and bought the InStyler and love it SO much better because while it's still hard for me to do curls, (I'll likely just stick with my curling iron for this), I can straighten and curl the ends under or flip with ease AND my hair LOOKS and FEELS healthy and shiny after use, so I don't worry about using daily if I choose to. For ME, the InStyler was worth the extra $50.

I recently replaced my long loved Super Solano with a lighter, faster Sedu Revolution Pro 3600i Lightweight Ionic Styling Hair Dryer. I was looking online for a comb attachment for the new dryer for some time but rarely do these attachments give measurements to guide proper fitting. Because there's no way to check the fit ahead of time I took a chance ordering this model and boy did it pay off. This is a really well designed two in one comb + concentrator by one of the top brands in hair dryers.

The manner in which this attaches to the nozzle is unique; you seat it firmly on the nozzle and then twist the collar to lock it, creating a tight custom fit.

The comb portion has well spaced teeth that taper *properly* as not to pull or snag the hair; cheaper comb attachments I've tried can taper sharply and feel like they are ripping their way through my hair. My hair is curly but fine textured and somewhat fragile so this kind of thing actually makes a big difference.

The tines are sturdy, not brittle doesn't scratch the scalp; should hold up well over time.

Bottom line: this attachment helps create a really smooth straight blowout and takes great care of your hair while doing so.

This is an amazing product. I purchased it because my hairdresser used it. It cuts my drying time in half and straightens my hair at the same time! This hair dryer has all the features I was looking for.

Pros: It really is very lightweight and quiet; It gets very hot (necessary for my hair); There are two speeds and two heat settings; The cool button stays down when you press it. (Although I didn't realize that this would be an advantage, it is a lot easier to set in a style when you don't have to hold down the cool button.)

Cons: It's a little hard to work the buttons because they are on the back of the handle. I'm used to controling them with my finger tips. I'm getting used to using my other hand to push the buttons. Also, I wish it were a little smaller to carry on trips, but the light weight makes up for this.

Update: June, 2012: Hairdryer stopped working after a few months. I contacted the company, but did not hear back. Too bad. It was a very nice dryer.

While this is an excellent, well-known and trusted brand, this dryer was a huge disappointment for me. I own other Hot Tools hair products and love them, so when I needed a replacement for my Chi blowe dryer, I went with this Hot Tools Professional dryer. The "multiple heat/speed settings" consist of high or low. Even the "high" temp and speed is extremely slow. I have fine hair, and it took forever to dry my hair. The locking cool shot is nice, but how long do most people need the cool shot? The concentrator is not adjustable to different angles. It locks in place, and there's no adjusting it to a different angle. I found the controls on the back of the handle to be awkward, too. I cannot figure how they advertise right on the box that this dryer "reduces drying time up to 50%." It added at least 50% to my drying time. I guess the 50% depends on what you are comparing it to as far as drying time and/or brand. It is a fairly quiet dryer, so if that is your only criteria, it might work for you. I have gone back to a Chi; once again, it did not disappoint.
