I first bought this brush 20 years ago. Hard to believe it lasted that long but I take good care of my things. It's been used constantly to blow dry my hair straight and brushes thru all knots and does not leave my hair static. My teenage daughter started using it and because of double the use, the bristle part detached from the base which was glued in very securely. I just ordered this new one and have to say I love it just as much as my original one. I was afraid it would've been made cheaper or that the bristles weren't going to be the same. But, I was wrong. It is still quality-made and I am so happy I didn't have to search endlessly and settle for something close to it. This brand makes quality brushes as I have several different sizes. I highly recommend it!

My hairdryer died and while I was waiting for a new one to come from Amazon, I picked up this hairdryer at my local Target in desperation. (I don't like walking around with damp hair when it's cold outside). For the price I paid for it (a quarter of the price that the amazon reseller is charging), it was a good deal good airflow for a compact hairdryer, and the ions seem to be working, no dryness or frizzyness. It dried my hair quickly, and my hair was soft and shiny afterwards. Also, the cord retracts into the dryer quite smoothly and easily at the push of a button. I wasn't really looking for this feature, but it's nice nonetheless.
However, the sound coming from this hairdryer is incredibly loud and annoying. If I could, I would record and measure the decible level coming from this thing, and I know it would be uncomfortably high. Fortunately it's meant to be a travel hairdryer. I wouldn't use it on a daily basis in a small bathroom with the door closed, you'll probably experience hearing loss over time. I am guessing that the high, loud noise emanating from the dryer is a function of compact hairdryers as a whole. It's likely that the only way to avoid the excessive noise is to stick with regular-sized hairdryers.
So all in all, this hairdryer works well and is a decent value at the price I paid (a little more than a Hamilton). But the NOISE!
On low speed, the dryer peaks around 80 decibels, which is below the threshold that can cause hearing damage. However, the output velocity at low speed is anemic. Additionally the temperature is lower at low speed than at high speed. It takes about 15 minutes to dry my child's medium length hair at this setting, as I won't expose my child to the excessive noise level at high speed. So this dryer is basically worthless as it is too loud to use at high speed, and it takes forever to dry hair at low speed. There are much better hair dryers out there. Avoid this one.
It dries my hair relatively fast depending on how long/short your hair is. It is loud, but it has never really bothered me. I mean your blow drying your hair, it's going to take 5 minutes and your blowing air on your head towards your ears so it's going to be loud. This thing blows a lot of air and fast so its loud it has power.
In short, this dryer is durable, a little loud for the sensitve-who maybe can't bare 5 mintues of their day to blow dry their hair, it has power, it heats up, it has a cool button, it folds, and has a retractable cord. It's a good dryer for traveling, it's compact, and it's fairly cheap. It beats the hair dryers in the hotel rooms thats for sure. I would recommend it and I stand behind the product since I've used it well over 5 years and it still works!
This isn't a hair dryer, its a noisey hair heater.
We had a really good laugh about how lame this thing was, then we threw it out.

Powerful, but way too loud high pitched sound. i'm returning it to Target.Best Deals on Conair Dual Voltage 1875 Watt Ionic HairDryer - Cord keeper
On high speed this dryer is so loud that it verges on being painful. In fact, I measured the sound output from 6 inches away from the blower with an SPL meter, and it peaked at 92 decibels, which is equivalent to an oboe or clarinet from 10 feet away. Anything above 85 decibels can cause hearing damage. OSHA's maximum daily exposure per day at 92 decibels is 6 hours. Granted it doesn't take that long to dry your hair in one session, but it can't be good for your hearing to be constantly exposed to this noise level. On low speed, the dryer peaks around 80 decibels, which is below the threshold that can cause hearing damage. I have had this hair dryer for over 5 years from back when I was in high school maybe even middle school (I've had it so long I can't remember!) and I'm still using it through grad school so this hair dryer lasts. I love how storable it is. Love the folding handle and retractable cord, it's been taken all across the US and on trips to Hawaii. It's been through alot, probably hundreds falls from the bathroom counter to the ground and it's still working. However, it did drop a couple months ago on the right spot and the button popped off to push to retract the cord but I saved it with the spring and still can put it in the hole and it still retracts! Now that I'm older I think I need to retire it and find a hair dryer with attachments to concentrate the airflow since that's what I am now looking for. If I could find one to fit this dryer I would buy it.It dries my hair relatively fast depending on how long/short your hair is. It is loud, but it has never really bothered me. Works like a charm.
Fitted my hair dryer with ease and stays in place very well during use. Better than the original attachment that came with my dryer when I bought it.

I think the first reviewer is confused. In 2 places on the box it says there are 2 settings: but there are are actually 4: 1) High hot (good for the first 20 minutes); 2)low hot (good for the next 10 minutes then 3)cool (a. high or b. low) for the final finishing. There is a DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE between high and low hot settings unlike other dryers that have 2 hot settings but are equally hot. This is a well-engineered dryer.
I purchased this dryer last week and used it Sunday, Nov. 25th on my recently colored hair my hair (thick and shoulder length) and scalp never looked (or felt) better. as for its features:
First the motor is powerful without generating a lot of extra heat
Second the hood is ROOMY and COMFORTABLE and accommodates the largest of rollers
Third this is the most important this dryer does not create uncomfortable hot spots which burn your scalp.
Finally the case is well made, stylish and a joy to use ( I LOVE the color) everything cools off quickly and can be replaced without bulging or popping out of their original storage places.
An excellent dryer for the money. I strongly recommend it. I just noticed the other 2 types of dryers and may buy one of those as a back-up.
A comprehensive review of the Laila Ali Ionic Soft Bonnet Dryer and demonstration. I love to use it for styling and for heat treatments. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
I'm SO glad I gave it a chance.
What turned me off was the bonnet: it seemed too big for my main purposes of usage (as a deep conditioner heat tool). It is perfect for ladies who do rollersets or the like, but I'm not there in the hair game yet lol.
So I put on my DC, a shower cap, and hooked up the machine. It comes just as the stock photos picture. It is very simple to set up and use, takes seconds.
Settings: High/Low, Cool/Hot. I used it on High/Hot. It wasn't very hot to me and I thought it was lacking until I finished the DC session. When I took the bonnet off, my shower cap was holing on to so much heat!!! It took about 10 minutes for the shower cap to cool off (I was testing to see). That was impressive to me. When I took the shower cap off, my hair was so soft and wavy. When I rinsed, my hair was like butter!!!
I used it in this process for two DC sessions (one 30 min protein treatment before the wash, one 30 min moisturizing treatment after the wash). Both sessions with the bonnet were a success, and I am sold. I will try it with rollers next when I try my first rollerset.
Some things to keep in mind:
I use a shirt or towel on my neck. The heat bears down on my neck, ears, and eyes. It doesnt bother my ears and eyes, though.
The bonnet is kind of awkward at first. I had to play around with it for a minute to get comfortable. I use the strings to fasten it under my chin. It works best that way for ME.
My fist day I used it for 1 hour total. It is built well and I can tell will be able to handle plenty more sessions. It is made of high grade plastics. I placed it on a chair and sat in my gaming chair while on my laptop.
I would recommend this item. I love that it is compact, heats very well, is attractive, and helped me improve my dc sessions.

I put this dryer through it's paces and found it to be more than efficient. I would have given it a five but it said there were three settings when there were only two. Other than that it dried my head full of curly hair quickly after my first Curlformers attempt and I loved the results. After almost fifteen years with natural hair I'm finally exploring styles other than a "press" or curly fro or ponytail. It also seems great for deep conditioning that will be my next test ...you can read more about how that goes at NaturalSistahs dot comBuy BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Straightening Iron

Well, maybe not TOO old, technically speaking, but I've had this iron for three years now and I still love it. It was a Christmas present; after some research I selected this iron over others mainly because I wanted to try this "titanium" stuff and the price seemed fairly reasonable.
This thing works wonders. I have naturally straight hair any, but this iron eliminates all my random frizzies and occasional errant waves. It heats up fast, gets VERY hot (I use most of my heat styling tools on maximum setting, but not this one), and on the whole is quite effective. The buttons make for easy use, and it makes good contact with my hair (I can't stand those irons that cant "grip" hair and just lets it slide through).
The plates are really shiny, almost mirrored. I feel like it conducts heat much better than ceramic, and it's quite pretty! Also, this iron does not require frequent cleaning. My ceramic irons always used to get burnt, brown buildup on them that I would have to clean off. Not so with this one! I can remember having to clean this iron ONCE in my three years of ownership, and even then it was a very slight buildup that came off with a damp cloth.
What I really love about this product, though is that I can use it to curl my hair! I doesn't have a rounded shape, but it still works wonders (you can look up many videos on Youtube for technique on how to do this). My hair, like I said, is naturally straight; before I tried this iron it would not hold a curl at all (or, if it did, it required at least two hours of hard work with a curling iron and at least half a bottle of hair spray). Now, however, it takes me 20 minutes, tops. A few spritzes of light-hold hairspray, and I'm done; the curls can even last for a second day of wear.
Like all irons, I recommend a good heat protectant so your hair doesn't fry, but overall I LOVE LOVE LOVE this iron.

I am still using this flat iron two years & a few months later. I love it more than when I first purchased it. I wish it had an auto shut off mechanism for those days when I absent mindedly left it turned on but I wouldn't trade it in for any other flat iron. Maybe I will eventually start looking for an updated babyliss with these same features bu as of right now I am very pleased with this one I have!

I have been using a Chi straightener for most of my life and I thought it was the best. This past Christmas I bought this straightener for my mom. I used it all month and the difference is amazing. I don't know if it's because of the titanium plates or the degree to which it heats, but it straightens the hair in one pass through and leaves it SO SHINY. My hair stays straight longer after using this, too. I love it and have made the switch to babyliss!Honest reviews on BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Straightening Iron
The flat iron far surpasses my chi in performance. The top becomes extremely hot, not allowing you to use both hands on the flat iron. It is a little big and bulky at this size, but the finished product is very straight and shiny. It does not work well for curling, the sides are too flat, and it works better if you can hold the top, again it is too hot to do this.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Straightening Iron
I love this flat iron. Its the best I've had so far and I have gone through quite a few. The CHI is definitely the worst by far and I also have a HerStyler and I still use that occasionally when I do someone elses hair but this is a definite tool for me. I dont have the straightest hair and I would classify my hair as crinkly curly with relaxed ends but I've been growing it out for almost a year without a relaxer and this is quite useful when I need it because after I wash my hair and straighten it I can just wrap it each night to maintain my style and I dont use it everyday because it lasts until I wash my hair and style it again.Update 5/30/2012

I purchased this hair dryer for my wife after my barber let me use her V2. First, my wife and I joke that I purchased her a "Ferrari" for Christmas. She absolutely loves this hair dryer. She claims that this hair dryer cuts about 12 minutes off her blow-drying time. In addition, if she pre-treats her hair, she no longer has to use a straightening iron (I do not know what she uses, sorry). This cut another 15-20 minutes. If saving about 30 minutes a day is not a "present", I do not know what is. This hair dryer is well constructed. The cord is about 16 gauge and about 9 feet long. There is heft to this dryer but it does not feel heavy. I realize that it is "taboo" for a husband to purchase his wife an appliance for Christmas, but I guarantee your wife will love you and the hair dryer.

I have long, thick hair, and blow drying it has always taken forever. I have used Chi dryer, Paul Mitchell, and several other salon brands, and none of them made the drying time or experience any faster or better. However, since I received this blow dryer, my "get ready" time has been cut in half. It's a miracle!! I never thought my hair could be dried so quickly. This curling iron does what it states...heats up quickly, doesn't pull on hair, lightweight, makes pretty curls. My only issue with it, which is not that big a deal but more of a nuisance, is that it does not save the heat setting that you want it to stay at. So for example I use it at 400. So every single time when I turn the curling iron on, I need to set it to 400. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
My long hair is stick straight and super fine, so sometimes it slips out of curling iron's grip, which can make it hard to style your hair. This gripped my hair tightly without tugging and there was enough heated iron to wrap my hair around several times and hot enough to heat all the way through the multiple wraps of hair.
My hair is hard to curl, so I was happy with the loose curls I got from this iron. The width is nice at 1 1/4 inch and I didn't feel like it made my bangs too poofy and 80's looking.
Warming pad was nice touch and fits nicely by the sink. I like that it turns off on it's own but not so quickly that you have to turn it back on while doing your hair. And the cord doesn't get tangled big bonus.
I picked this up in my supermarket at a whim. I had not used a curling iron since, er....let's say the 80's ladies. I've used the flat iron at the suggestion of my hairstylist but could not make curls without there being a crease on one side so I stopped using it. I was surprised how much more advanced they have become. I remember the old school ones that had one heat setting and you burned your forehead trying to curl your bangs. No more with this one...you can adjust the setting. I set it to the lowest setting (220 degrees), and this is more than enough to curl my hair. I have fine straight color treated hair and am very careful not to further traumatize it. You can use some product as well to protect the ends (I use the Sammy brand found at my local market). I don't find it necessary to use hairspray to hold the curl like I did in the 80's which is an added plus!
I like that it is lightweight, heats up quickly, and has automatic shut off. I especially like that the curls last! This is huge as my experience having straight fine hair is that I can expect my curls to be non existent by the end of the day. I notice that when I wake up the next morning the curl is still there.
CONS:
Mine did not come with the heating pad, but I'm using a cork trivet instead and that seems to work fine. I'm sure pot holders would work as well.
The buzzing sound also was a bit concerning, until I looked at other reviews and they said the same thing. It is not your hair burning, just an odd sounds that it makes. I don't notice it as much now.
My only criticism is that the cool tip is the same color as the iron and handle so I could see myself not paying close attention and easily reaching for the wrong end and...ouch, I've just burned myself. I think they could have made the cooling tip a different color. So far this has not happened, but none the less a concern.
The packaging mentioned something about "ionic". It would be helpful to have a further explanation somewhere that tells you exactly what that is. I am familiar with the ionic hair dryers, but I'm sure this is very different.
------
Other than that, I really like it. It is a nice change of pace from my hot air curling brush, heats up fast, easy to use and works really well.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Unlike any hair curler I have ever owned, this John Frieda model has multiple heat settings to handle styling needs without damaging your hair (by far the most important aspect of the iron for me). It has the ever-important auto-shutoff function and surface/luggage heat protection options. I can't speak to the temperature testing in an earlier review (wow, that's dedication!), but overall I'm pretty impressed by the features in a relatively inexpensive product.Best Deals on John Frieda Curling Iron

This curling iron is just okay. The barrel is a good size and it heats up quickly. My 1st complaint with the product is that when I turn it on it makes a noise like the motor is running. It's not very loud, but I have never had a curling iron make a noise the whole time it's turned on. My 2nd complaint is the tip of the curling iron is too small and is almost the same color as the barrel. When curling my hair I use both hands, one on the part below the barrel and the other on the top tip to help curl. This tip is much to small, so I keep touching the hot barrel. It doesn't help that the tip is almost the same color as the barrel. My 3rd and final complaint is that the buttons are placed in a bad area. When curling my hair, I accidently pushed the heat temp button, which made it get hotter without me knowing. I also pressed the on/off switch by accident. I only realized I turned it off when the motor sound stopped. The buttons are right where your hand needs to be placed. Since it was so inexpensive, I'm debating if I want to keep it or return it.Cheap Rusk CTC Lite Dryer

I've been using a Rusk dryer for several years now and I'm afraid that it is about to go, which is why I ordered the CTC Lite. What a great dryer it is! Plenty of power with 3 heat settings, 3 speeds and a cool shot. Today was my first time using it and it is way lighter than the previous Rusk with a tad more power. The nozzle is a bit more narrow which is perfect for concentrating the direction of the flow. Love it!
cons:
1. light weight
2. powerfull and dry my hair in about 5-8mins ( i had a long hair over my shoulder blades.)
3. have 3 types of temperature, warm. cool ans hot. and i am using cool to dry my hair cause my hair is too dry and curl.
4. the price is reasonable for me. cause i have spend over a hundred for my previous one and which is junk.
pros: a bit noisy but is ok.

My wife has long curly thick hair that is high maintanence. Finding salons, products & dryers that do the job is not easy. This has become her primary hair dryer. Fits her diffuser, it's light & comfortable in her hand. Highly recommended.Best Deals on Rusk CTC Lite Dryer
