I have long straight hair and normal cheap curling irons do not work on my hair (my hair doesnt hold the curls for more than 30 min) i saw this product on tv (the Real World) and loved how the hair looked on one of the girls. I have thick, coarse African American hair. I wear it relaxed. Prior to this I used old-school crimp tool for the stove. That worked well.The style However I kept damgaging my hair. I searched for six months for an electric crimper/waver that would provide enough heat. I bought this one because it was relatively cheap, although I was hesitant because it did not have temperature control. But it worked well using small sections of hair.

The waves look fabulous. I wrap my hair is a silk cap every night and they seem to be lasting (3 days). It took me along time to do my hair because it is long and thick. I used a non-alcoholic mousse for hold and heat protection. I would recommend this product. Also you can buy it at Sally and return it if you do not like it.

I have long and very thick hair that is slightly wavy but not enough for a good curl so I usually just straighten it. I am bored with the flat straight look and wanted something different and more exciting for evening. This waver certainly delivered. The look it created was unique and fun and very different from my usual daytime look. The waver heats up fast, creates defined waves, and adds a lot of body and fullness to my hair. My curls were very shiny, bouncy and full of body, and the curls have lasted for 2 days. There is a cool tip to hold at the end of the iron so you can stabilize the tool and you won't get burned. The grip is comfortable and the tool is not too heavy my hand did not get tired holding the tool even though it took a long time to completely curl my whole head. The cord is nice and long and swivels which is always a good feature. And the iron did not seem to burn my hair even though I used the high setting.

Now that brings me to the negatives. There are only 2 heat settings and I would like more choices. I color treat my hair and probably shouldn't use the high setting all the time. My biggest complaint is the barrels are a little too short. I would've liked more room on the barrels b/c my hair got stuck in the hinge once. It also does not have an automatic shut off which really should be on all heated styling devices for safety. And I think the curls may be a little too tight for everyday, so I wish the barrels were a little larger. For someone like me who's hair is not naturally curly, it creates great "party or date hair" but it may not be office appropriate. And lastly, if you have a lot of long hair like I do, this is really not a tool for everyday. It took me about an hour to curl my entire head. I got a ton of compliments though. I even had strangers coming up to ask me how I did it, and my husband loved it, so I'll definitely keep this for evenings out or special occasions.

I get a lot of compliments on the sparkly pattern of the tinsel. However, I prefer to knot the tinsel into my hair instead of gluing so it last longer through showering and styling. To do this, you need the tinsel to be twice your hair length (becomes a double strand) so this length is not ideal. I have tied two strands together to accommodate, but I prefer tinsel that comes on a wheel like thread so you can cut it to your own length.

I bought this a bit cheaper on eBay, but as far as I can tell it's the exact same product. It's a pity that Amazon lists the various colors of the product as separate products rather than one product that comes in different colors. This way, reviews end up scattered around the various listings. But I got the white one, so I'll review the white one.

So here is the question I'm sure everybody is waiting for: Why on earth would I want to spend this much money on a hair dryer?

First of all, I did not spend quite as much as the list price here, since as I mentioned I bought elsewhere for a good discount. But even with a good discount, this hair dryer is expensive. A good consumer grade hair dryer is usually more in the $20-50 range.

Well, let's start at the beginning. I hate hairdryers, because they take forever. Sure, I like the idea of drying my hair with a hairdryer. It makes it nice and smooth, and you get to dry it as you are putting in product, rather than haphazardly directing the product in the general direction of still wet hair and hoping that once it all dries up the product will cause the result to look better than it would have without. But at the same time, I'm busy (or, if you prefer, lazy.) Usually, my sloth wins out over my vanity, and I just towel dry my hair and get on with things. Then, one day, when I was a little bored, I decided to actually give some thought to these problems that had been going rumbling about in the furthest recesses of my brain for years. Is there a better way?

It soon dawned on me that when you get your hair cut, they often wash it before and dry it afterwards. And they often dry it remarkably quickly. I had always assumed that this was because the hair had already had a chance to air-dry a bit while being cut, but this kind of thing called for a bit more research. How much power do hair dryers actually put out? What kinds of hairdryers do professional hairdressers use? How much power do those put out?

As a matter of fact, the research turned out to be very simple. There was no need to experiment. All the information was readily available online. As it turns out, the main variables to consider in a hair dryer is how hard it blows, and how hot. More air per minute means faster drying, and so does a higher temperature. The power usage in Watts of a given hair dryer is a decent indicator of how effective a hair dryer will be, but it is not perfect. It turns out to be easier (read: cheaper) to increase the power of a hairdryer by increasing temperature rather than volume, but that is not actually what you want. There is a practical limit to how hot you can make the air coming out of a dryer. If it is too hot, it hurts the scalp. (I don't mean that it causes some cosmetic damage to watch out for. I mean it _hurts_.) Also, the consensus seems to be that too high a temperature with not enough volume of air causes the hair to dry in a way that makes it frizzy. (The details don't really matter to me, but it's explained in several places on the web.) So a good hair dryer has a lot of power, but also, it allocates a good amount of that power to blowing harder and not just heating up the air to a higher temperature.

Then there is the ionic business. The amount of pseudoscience being bandied about on that topic is too large to dig through; I suspect that all that's going on is that by putting a slight electrostatic charge of the same sign on every hair, the hairs repel each other a little, leading to a smoother, more even look. But maybe there's more to it. Google around and you will found pages of theories about the endless benefits of ions.

Anyway, armed with this background knowledge, the obvious next step is to ask where professionals buy their blow dryers. I soon found out that most brands market themselves pretty much exclusively to professionals or exclusively to retail customers. The professional brands are often European or American, rather than East Asian, in origin, and prices are of course higher. From what I could find, Parlux appeared to be clearly one of the most desirable brands. Everybody writes the same thing about these things: they are solidly built, and they put out a very high volume of very hot air to quickly and smoothly dry hair. Moreover, unlike other pro-oriented brands, Parlux actually has a compact model, which is the one you are looking at now.

Based on all that, I decided to go for it. Sure, it's a lot of money, but if I was going to buy a _good_ hair dryer, I was going to buy a _really_ good one, not one that was better than the old one but not quite adequate and that would end up having to be replaced yet _again_ later. This hair dryer is clearly the Cadillac among hair dryers. Or, maybe, given it's size, we should say it's the BMW 3-series: very high quality, but compact.

All right, so enough with the suspense. What is it actually like to use?

The first thing that struck me about the Parlux is how solidly built it is. The design is elegant and as pretty to behold as a handheld electric motor and heating element are going to get, but once you hold it, it exudes quality. The dryer as a whole is surprisingly heavy, though not so heavy as to be hard to handle for a person of normal strength. The selection switches for setting the temperature and fan speed are clearly of a very high quality, designed to be flipped many times daily for many years in a busy salon setting. The air filter on the back, which comes off for cleaning, has a very tight and precise screw fit.

Actually using the dryer, you notice that the maximum temperature is precisely the highest temperature that you can comfortably use, and it is reached virtually immediately when you turn the heat on. The volume of air put out by the fan is enormous. In terms of drying speed, this is not an incremental improvement over the $40 consumer-grade device I used to have. This is a whole different experience. My (admittedly not very long, and thoroughly towel-dried) hair was dry within a minute or two, and came out very soft and smooth virtually immediately.

It is up to you whether you want to spend this sort of money to get a really good blow dryer. When making your decision whether to buy it, I think you can reasonably assume that this is about as good as a blow dryer is going to get. The question is not whether this product is good enough; it is whether that is worth the money, which only you can decide.

Bought diffuser as it is specifically recommended to fit my Elchim Uragano model. No way this diffuser fits the Uragano....there is an internal hard plastic barrier on the diffuser that prevents attachment to the dryer, and it's impossible to remove. Tried duct-taping it, but the dryer heat melted the duct tape off. The removable screen also does not stay on, it falls off whenever you move the diffuser around. This Elchim product is worthless. It's also impossible to find any diffusers that fit taper-nosed dryers, too.

Wanted to give it zero stars, but it wouldn't let me.

I had been using a similar item with a philips hair dryer for 2 years, then I purchased this diffuser with an elchim hair dryer couple of months ago. This gives very good results if you have a wavy or curly hair and you wanna blow dry it keeping well defined curls without frizz! I have curly hair and I usually put some serum or cream and leave it to dry out in summer but I use this diffuser when the weather is cold or I want to dry my hair fast and yet not have it messed up and all over the place by using just the regular blow dryer. I have no idea what result you would get with naturally straight hair. But I know it will do no good if you try to straighten curly/wavy hair with this diffuser.

Regarding the attachment, it's needs a little effort to attach it and remove it. But once it's there, you won't worry about it falling off which would have bugged me a big deal when I'm in the middle of doing my hair and things would keep falling!!

This item is billed as a travel mirror. I am a senior citizen that travels frequently, and traveled for work for many years. I ordered this to replace an old travel mirror that had been lost on a previous trip. This one is very fine quality but is far too heavy for today's carry-on bags and it is also too bulky for putting into checked baggage. If you travel by car, have room in the trunk, then this might be a good choice, but it is heavy. The surface of the mirror is a bit smaller than I like for make-up application, etc. but the quality of the mirror glass is excellent and distortion free. If you adjust the height or tilt it too much during use, after a while the screws do not hold and you have to tighten-them-up again. Easy enough, but annoying if you are in a time crunch. The fact that it stands on its own for hands-free use and does adjust and tilt are a couple of its better qualities. I will keep it for at-home use. I will look for a lighter-weight mirror for travel.

Wow, I've been using remy hair for almost four years and before that the best human hair out. I recently started ordering the virgin remy hair from boutiques. I tried tis hair because I needed to get something fast and the boutiques always take long. I hate it. It sheds, it tangles, omg. I got two packs,one of a 1b and on4/30 the mixed color is the one that is mainly giving me issues. I just put it in 3 days ago. Omg I hate this hair for the money that charge this is crazy. As you can probably tell my wife loves her new flat iron. I had a chance to Skype with her today and for the first 30 minutes all she wanted to talk about was her new flat iron by Onei.

Her top three pros:

1 WAY faster straightening than other flat irons she's used in the past. What used to take her almost 2 hours (she has a lot of hair), now only takes her about 20 minutes. "I would feel comfortable straightening my hair before work with this. I mean, I would totally have enough time to."

After reading countless reviews of flat irons of various brands and price points, I decided to purchase the Onei MK-I Halo. I am so happy with my decision! I truly believe that this flat iron will last for years. I had never heard of this brand, but the glowing reviews lead me to take the plunge. This small company seems to be devoted to putting out a quality product for its customers.

What I like:

Automatic shutoff. This was a must for me, as I drive myself crazy wondering whether or not I turned the flat iron off. This feature was surprisingly hard to come by, but this may be because many professional flat irons are used for extended periods of time and therefore wouldn't want or need the iron to turn off after 30 minutes.

Heats up quickly. I turn on the iron, and it's heated and ready to go by the time I grab my hairbrush and spritz on some heat protectant. This is great, as I usually don't have a moment to spare in the mornings.

Adjustable heat with exact temperature reading. The iron heats up to a maximum of 450 degrees, but I usually leave it on 360.

It's just pretty.

Other features:

The cord is extremely long. This could be a benefit for some people, but I don't really need it. Since I found myself stepping on the extra cord, I tied up the excess with a cable tie.

The swivel cord seems to work really well. I don't anticipate any kinks or tangles.

How it works:

My hair is basically straight, has a mind of its own, and loves to flip out at the ends. I always thought it looked fine when I left the house, only to discover that it had morphed into a hot mess by the time I get to work. I didn't expect a new flat iron would make a difference, but it did! I use it to straighten and smooth my shoulder-length bob. The rounded plates allow me to gently curve the ends under, and that's exactly how they stay. My style stays sleek and shiny all day, and I couldn't be happier!

Quality:

This plates are smooth and glide through my hair. The iron feels solid in my hand, but is not too heavy. The black plastic panel on the top tends to squeak when I press it with my thumb, but the wand seems very well crafted in spite of that. I have handled several well-known (and very expensive) flat irons in stores, and I believe that the Onei is of equal or better quality.

Overall:

I am very pleased with my purchase. My daughter loves it, too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to a friend.

I have to admit I'm disappointed in this product. I started using a flatiron 2 years ago and had purchased a mid-grade Revlon model. Since I use it daily, I wanted to purchase a better one in hopes of better results (faster, higher temperature and a smoother finish to my hair). Honest reviews on Onei MK-I Halo Ceramic Flat Iron - 450 Degrees for Brazilian Keratin

I have naturally wavy hair and I have been using flat irons for years, I have found some great ones and I have found some bad ones. I have also seen some brands that were great get sold to some big company who wanted to make them cheaper and they turned into a bad flat iron...(I'm looking at you, Chi) I look for quality. The 4 year warranty on this one says quite a bit about them standing up for their quality. (Chi went to a one year warranty when they went down in quality).

The first thing I liked about this flat iron is that the edges of the plates are rounded off . You don't always see that but it allows for hair to run through the flat iron smoothly, with no edges to pull at your hair. This also makes it far more easy for you to curl or flip your hair with the flat iron (great on my bangs, for example.)

Secondly, the plates "float" This means, unlike many of the cheaper irons, when you press on them, you will feel a springiness or some "give". This allows more movement when you are styling with less damage to the hair when doing so because the give is in the iron rather than the hair follicle.

I never buy a blow dryer or flat iron with out the ionic energy--it honestly does protect hair and add shine. The better models now always include this, as does this flat iron.

You can regulate the temp from 150 to 450 and a bright ion display shows you the temperature. I did use my laser meat thermometer to measure what this read against it's true temperature and it measured accurately.

Overall, it has all the components that make for a great flat iron, but most importantly it works well on my hair and leaves less damage.

I bought this flat iron after reading all the positive reviews on Amazon. At first I was a bit skeptical because I had a CHI for so long and liked it, but I'm very glad I bought the Onei because it does a very good job straightening my hair. My one criticism is that it's not dual voltage. I travel a lot, so I'd have to take a converter with me, but for this price I wish it was dual voltage.

Not sure why the other reviewer had trouble with the heat. Mabe a defective dryer? I never put mine on the hottest setting would be too hot. Never had trouble with the cord, either, even though I bunch it up to put it in a drawer. Mine just broke a child grabbed it and it fell and I will definitely buy another.

This was the worst purchase ever. The dryer has no power and hardly gets warm let alone hot. The cord got so tangled, And wrapped upon itself I could no longer use the dryer. I tried to return the dryer but to much time had passed. Awful for a professional dryer. Terrible do not buy this dryer.

This is the best blow dryer I have ever used. My hair is never frizzy after using it and I live in the deep south with 100% humidity most days. A little heavy but otherwise perfect! Very powerful.
