Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've used inexpensive blow-dryers for decades (my two most recent are a Conair Ionic Cord-keeper and a compact Vidal Sassoon, both 1875 watts) but upon using this model, I'm a convert to you-get-what-you-pay-for.
This Remington is the standard professional shape (not collapsible), with the standard heat options (cool, warm, hot; plus a button for a burst of cold), airflow options (medium and high; the enclosed concentrator and diffuser can be attached to further customize the airflow), and 1875 watts.
But that's the end of "standard." This model is slightly heavier than my other dryers, the weight being a sturdier motor that's warranted for 4 years. The motor makes it the first dryer with enough oomph that I can hold it the recommended 8-inches away from my head and still get great heat and airflow to my hair. (And it's the first time the tips of my thumb and index finger are healing; they were constantly dry and cracked from needing to hold my old blow-dryers too close to my hand that holds the styling brush.) It has a fabulous surface -a sort of velvety-smooth composite that creates just the slightest bit of drag so the dryer doesn't slide around or off a countertop. And the best? It's the quietest blow-dryer I've heard, made even better by a pitch that's low and whooshy, not high and whiney. Oh-so-highly recommended!

This is a good dryer while it lasts. Quiet, good heat, not too heavy. But I have owned it less than six months and yesterday it stopped producing heat, just blew cold air.
Update: I just called Remington. They warranty the product for three years and are sending me a new dryer. No hassle.

My old salon quality dryer broke and I had to find a replacement. My criteria? It must dry fairly quickly, straighten my thick wavy hair without too much damage, have a longer cord and cost $40 or less.
I began by purchasing the highly rated Revlon RV544. It worked just "OK". The fatal flaw with that model was the short cord. It was only about 6 feet long and it wouldn't reach across our deep countertop to where I needed to use it. Not wanting to use an extension cord with this appliance, I tried to plug it into my makeup mirror to overcome the short cord. The way the plug is designed, it absolutely would not stay plugged into the makeup mirror and fell out multiple times each time I tried to dry my hair. I only used this dryer for a week, but my hair began to look dull and I wondered what long term use of this dryer would do to it. Back to the store.
This time I bought the Conair 259 Infiniti Pro which came well recommended. Another disappointment. It had a short cord, was extremely loud and it barely heated up enough to dry my hair.
My last try was the Remington Studion Collection Pearl Ceramic Hair Dryer. After using it for a month, I love it! My hair dries in a reasonable amount of time, it looks sleek, shiny and to be in excellent condition. The dryer is not overly loud (although I wouldn't call it quiet either), the cord is longer than most standard dryers and it was in my price range. I really don't see how my hair could look better even if I used a $200 dryer. I would highly recommend this dryer.

The dryer is still working great. I love it so much I bought another one to keep on hand in case the first one breaks.
I have purchased the Remington Pearl Ceramic Paddle brush and the large barrel round brush too. They work together to make my hair look so glossy and shiny. They are my favorites of all time and that's saying something. Stop your research, get the Remington Pearl Ceramic dryer and a Pearl Ceramic brush and I bet you'll agree...they're great.

I would echo what the other 5 star reviewers have mentioned. Dries my hair quickly and created less frizz. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, after owning this dryer for about 6 months, it started with a blue/green spark. I've determined that the unit is overheating and forcing itself to click to a lower heat setting. Over the week this has been occurring for me, it went from doing this once every few minutes, to once every 30-45 seconds, to every 5 seconds (drastically increasing the time spent blow drying my hair because it was almost all cool air coming out).
However, I emailed the company about the issue, and they responded within a couple hours informing me they would be sending a replacement unit as well as a prepaid shipping label to return the defective one. I know some other reviewers mentioned that they were unresponsive, but I had the opposite experience. And I did receive the replacement 5 business days later. However, because this seems to be a consistent problem across the model, I will probably keep this as a backup to a different unit I purchased. It's inexpensive, so if you want to take the chance you get a good unit, go for it. It did work really great when it worked correctly (although I do agree it was rather heavy).

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program From its curvy shape to its pink switches to its matching companion products (a curling wand and a straightener), this dryer is clearly designed for a woman. My wife is a small woman, however, so it's just too large and heavy for her to handle comfortably. Moreover, she has fine hair, yet this monster has a motor with a whopping 1875 watts, the "maximum allowable power," according to the copy on the box. Its diffuser attachment also seems to be designed for someone with big hair.
As for the other claims on the box, I'm very skeptical. It promises a salon experience with its "pearl ceramic grill with real crushed pearls for faster airflow." But airflow is primarily a function of the motor and the nozzle, not the grill. The box also extols its "internal electronic ion generator for maximum therapeutic benefit." Sorry. We haven't noticed any therapeutic benefits in the process of using it. The product does a fine job of drying hair, but these two claims strike me as a lot of Madison Avenue hoo-hah!
On the plus side, it's remarkably quiet for such a powerful machine, and it comes with a long cord, a non-slip grip, a removable air intake screen for ease of cleaning, and three heat and two speed settings for a total of six combinations. It's a sturdy dryer that should last for many years. If I needed to dry a lot of thick hair fast, this would be my tool of choice.
