I used a mirror like this during a stay at a high class hotel and mentioned it to my daughter-in-law. She said she had used one like it before and loved it. Nicely made, good quality and attractive but doesn't produce much light. Magnification is fine but hard to see my face unless I turn on lots of additional room lighting. Sort of defeats the purpose of a lighted mirror. Wish it were brighter!

I purchased this because I felt like my 5x magnifying mirror did not allow me to 'pick' at my face without causing major damage and scarring. (Terrible habit of mine I know!) but I can't be helped, so I thought if the mirror had more magnification and had light I would be kinder to my face. Despite the mirror looking pleasant and everything working as it should, I felt the light was a little too dim and the magnifying mirror was not 7x as claimed. I compared it to my 5x one and the magnification was identical. I can't be bothered to return it because I can see a little better due to the added light, however I would not recommend it to the aging eye at all.

I made the mistake of ordering the 40 load soap nuts. I should have listened to other customers who said to just go for the 4 pound bag of them. I ordered the 1/4 pound of soap nuts and am now working on a 4 pound bag of them. I have very hard water and a front load washer. I use 5 soap nuts for 4 loads and I am very happy with the results. Don't use cold water or you will be disappointed...only warm water will do. Oh, and don't expect suds...even without the chemical suds, your clothes will be clean, smell fresh, and be soft.

I ordered my nuts straight from the NaturOli web site and I couldn't be more pleased with them. I ordered them after making a horrible mistake and ordering from Maggie's first. The Maggie's nuts were my first set of soap nuts and what a TERRIBLE impression! They were black, tacky and wrapped in cellophane that apparently had water trapped in it. They had hardly any soap by the time they got to me.

I'm sooooo glad I decided to try again and order from NaturOli this time. The nuts they shipped me were a warm, golden brown, packaged in a cloth bag and just 5 nuts will do an entire weeks worth of laundry for me (5 loads, 4 washed in cold and 1 washed in hot). I was so pleased with the way the soap nuts cleaned my clothes that I ordered a years worth of nuts after my initial order got low and I'm shipping off 6 weeks worth to my mom to try!

Just a note: If you have embedded odors in your clothes already (armpit area, etc.) that reg laundry detergent just covered up, soaking the clothes in a vinegar/water solution for about an hour will help get the smell out. Because soap nuts have no fragrance you will notice the odors after washing with the soap nuts as the perfume will be washed out of your clothes but the smells it was covering up will remain set in the fabric. I was shocked at some of the odors regular laundry detergent had just covered up, but after the vinegar/water soak got the set in smells out the soap nuts have kept the odors gone (and I now use wool dryer balls, not dryer sheets, so there is NOTHING in my wash to cover up odors anymore).

I was turned on to soap nuts when I ordered a sample from Maggie's. So I bought more. The large bag I purchased from them were in a cellophane bag (inside a linen bag) and were a complete messy, sticky glob. I thought that's just how soap nuts were. Yes, they seemed to do an adequate job in the laundry, but were not very fun to touch. Then I tried Naturoli. These soap nuts are dry, clean, packaged in linen bags without the un-earth-friendly cellophane and do an amazing job at cleaning laundry. The price is good, packaging is superior, all literature is beautifully printed. Compared to Maggie's, it's like night and day. Choose the light choose Naturoli! Great for the environment and great for your laundry.

I usedit once for 5 minutes for a hair treatment, the second and last time i used it the dryer had been on for 10 minutes.i turned it off to go to the restroom, and when i returned it wouldn't turn back on. I really came close to returning this item. I have long, thick hair that I like to roll on large rollers, so I thought this would be ideal. However, I was a bit disappointed in the design in that it does not allow the hair at the back of the head and neck to dry while the top dries too much! But I searched and searched and could not find a hard bonnet dryer with any other type of design and the reviews that were posted for other dryers said the same problem was experienced with them. So, I kept it with the idea that it was better than nothing.

It is extremely loud. My wife has to wear earplugs when she dries her hair. It also has kind of flimsy construction. She had an older Hot Tools model that was much quieter and very sturdy, but the temperature sensor went out after about 10 years. We are disappointed in the quality and noise level of the new one.

I have very fine hair and for years have struggled to find a product that gives it body without weighing it down. Thick does the trick! I have had stylists create beautiful 'do's' using everything from mousse to gel to lifters applied at the root, but they all had the same results. 30 minutes after leaving the salon, my 'do' started to collapse into a head hugging 'don't'. This dryer is very gentle and efficient. Mine lasted 4 years before it stopped heating properly. The last time it worked, I smelled something burning, besides hairs that were trapped in the fan and heating element (which probably caused the problem). The next time I used it, it didn't produce much heat. I discovered that a small black electronic component covered with a copper element had "failed" open (thermocouple with shutoff?). After prodding it, checked it again and continuity was restored. I didn't reassemble the dryer and plug it back in to retest it, because I couldn't be absolutely sure that I had eliminated the cause of overheating by removing the hairs and I couldn't be sure that the overheating shutoff switch would work again. Perhaps this info could be helpful to someone who has a better understanding of the electronics. Also suggests that if you smell hair burning, the unit should be disassembled and cleaned to avoid overheating.

Conair Ion Shine 1875 Watt Hair Dryer 146RXThis is the second Conair 1875 hair dryer, Model 146RX that my daughter has gotten in the past 6 months. Her first one stopped working within a few months after purchase. As time passed, the fan kept running slower and slower. Eventually during one use, the fan stopped. The dryer immediately overheated and caught fire. Fortunately, the fire was contained within the dryer and my daughter was able to extinguish it easily.

She returned the hair dryer and got a replacement under warranty. Within a month or two, the fan on this one also slowed down. On the high speed setting, the fan was running at about half of the slow speed setting. She was concerned that it would have the same problem as her old one and also catch fire. So, she stopped using it.

My daughter knows that I'm a die-hard DIYer and asked me to take a look at it while I'm here visiting.

I know that running at such low fan speeds will eventually cause the hair dryer to overheat and fail.

The instructions did not show how to remove the filter screen to access the fan blades. So, I took the dryer apart to see what the problem was. The first thing that I noticed was that the filter screen holes are too large. Thus, hair and lint can easily slip thru it and cause problem. Plus, this appeared to be a turbo type hair dryer which has higher suction than other models. My assessment was confirmed when I removed the filter screen. The fan blades were clogged with hair and lint. Hairs had wrapped around the blades and motor housing and kept the fan from spinning fully.

Once, I removed and cleaned off the hairs and dust and reassembled the dryer, the fan ran at full speed.

I told my daughter that I'd fixed her hair dryer and that she can continue to use it again. I cautioned her to keep the intake end away from her hair, which she normally does anyways.

She used shortly after I'd repaired it. While she was drying her hair, she called out to me urgently. She wanted to show me that the hair dryer was sucking in her hair. Even though she was holding the hair dryer away from her head and hair, as she flipped her hair and turned the hair dryer back-and-forth in the normal drying process, the hair dryer would suck in her hair. As noted early, this model has far more suction that normal. The fan blades started to wrap hairs around itself again. She had to turn it off and pull her hair out.

We tried holding the hair dryer further away. However, holding the hair dryer at arms length (arms extended) is un-natural and difficult. Plus, at that distance, the hot air cools down a lot before reaching the hair and does not dry it efficiently.

When her previous hair dryer failed, the symptoms were the same. As it sucked in more hairs, the fan would run slower and slower and eventually stop. That hair dryer actually caught fire while she was using it. I have no doubt that this one would have done the same had I not taken it apart to clean the fan blades.

This problem is serious and caused by a design flaw. This problem is not acceptable and Conair should deal with it ASAP. I've already complained to Conair but have not heard back. I'm considering reporting this problem to the CSPC.

I want my daughter to return this hair dryer under warranty again. However, getting another one does not solve the problem. Another dryer of the same model would have exactly the same problem. We've had this problem twice on two different dryers of this model.

We do not recommend this model hair dryer for anyone who has long hair.

I had a ConAir Pro Style 1275 Watt dryer for so long I don't recall how long I owned it, over 10 years easily and it finally died, having such good luck I replaced it with another ConAirPro, in this case the 146P, BlackBird Pro 1875 Watts.

Now as for my review title, the new one is no match for the old one in air flow and even though the wattage is a lot higher, the air is not as hot, so if you are used to the older ones this one will be a let down, enough different that I found an older model (BB075W) on here and bought it (this one I picked up at Target since I needed one right away), the ConairPro BB075W is a 2000 Watt unit that has, from feel, the same air flow and heat as my old one did.

As for this one, the cold shot is very nice, I don't use it to set my hair per se, just to cool it after a quick dry, I noticed no differnce in the "quality" of the drying job from the old one that was not ionic, but perhaps the effect does not show in short thin hair. The two heat settings are good but if you are used to 4 I found the temp too hot or too cool, I think the 4 hear settings model lets you get closer to the temp you like. I took off one star for these things.

The air flow is where I took another star off, for the weight and noise level it should be a lot stronger, this was very noticable, it took longer to dry my air and when I combed it after thinking it was dry the first time I noticed it was still a bit damp under the top layer, it had not blasted though, so I had to hit it again for another minute or so.

The controls are on the front of the hand grip making it easier to accidently change settings but making it more comfortable to use in either hand then side handle switches.

Fan Style -This uses an in-line fan, like a little window fan and these are rarely as effecient or move the same amount of air for their size as a squirrel cage fan (fan looks more like a paddle wheel), in-line fans have a size advantage and are what you always find in travel blow dryers as it allows them to be more compact, I really see no adavantage in a unit not meant for travel to have this fan style other than "style", it allows for a sleaker look.

Compared to my old one this one would be a 2 Star, but on its own I gave it a 3, I like the "heft"/weight, and it has a very solid, balanced, quality feel, good speed and temp settings, and as noted, the cold shot button is a nice plus. It is ConAir quality so even "average" is good.

The good news is my somewhat thin, cotton-candy, wavy, frizzy hair is shiny and STRAIGHT (with body.) It has been very hot, and quite humid lately, but my hair stays straight and shiny all day. That's a first.

The bad news is the dryer is heavier than I had hoped. It is awkward to use, although I hope to become more proficient at it. For now I keep resorting back to using a brush. And, Conair, if you're listening, a locking cool-shot button would be a big plus for those of us with work weary hands.

If you're like me and you have to spend time drying your hair with a blowdryer then flat-ironing it to get it straight, then I would definitely recommend this dryer. If you are good with a blowdryer and a round brush, it's not really necessary for you to buy this. It pretty much does the same job, so why waste $60?

I like it because it does make your hair soft and does add a lot of volume, and I'm absolutely hopeless with a regular blowdryer. I gave it 4 stars because no matter what they tell you, it doesn't make your hair as straight and sleek as a good flat iron. Still, like I said before it does work. The only complaint I have is that doing the back of your head is a little awkward. I haven't really gotten the hang of that.

I have long, thick, curly (frizzy, mediterranean) hair which I straighten, but which nonetheless frizzes if not properly dried. I've just tried this dryer -I have several dryers, including the $235.00 tourmaline/ceramic/ionic -and it works. The ends are not a problem (see previous review). You do have to get your fingers out of the way -i.e., let go -but you can curl your hand around the brush-end of the dryer to hold the ends flat as they dry. My hair looked as well or better as when I dry it in sections with the $235.00 hairdryer and a large brush. While the Conair blow dry was not quite as smooth as those that I've had at a high-end NYC salon, it definitely was as smooth as a "no appointment, FIFO" moderately priced salon blow dry. I would recommend it to anyone who has difficult hair and can't afford weekly blow-drys.

I'm so glad I ordered this product. I'm an African-American with natural hair (no perm or texturizer). I was looking for an easy way to dry my hair without it getting really tight. This dryer provided just what I needed.

I de-tangle my hair first with a wide tooth comb and section it (this is important!). Then I use this dryer to blow dry my hair straight so I can get long two-strand twists. It's much better than holding a dryer in one hand and a brush in the other. If you're African-American with natural hair, this dryer will work IF you de-tangle your hair first. Hold the section of hair you want to dry, and slowly comb through the section with the dryer.

My daughter gave this dryer to me for Christmas. We both had fun trying it and we both love it. She has thick, thick, auburn hair that has a lot of natural curl and body. After using the Infiniti Tourmaline Hair Designer, her long layered hair was straight, but with body and movement. It also had a beautiful, healthy shine.

My hair is thick, but very fine. I have some natural wave that turns to frizz. Big frizz. Ugh! I've used many dryers, curling irons, and flat irons, and was doubtful that this dryer would be any better. I was wrong. It takes a little practice to learn how to hold and maneuver it, but the results on my hair is fantastic! I can go from soaking wet hair, to straight and shiny in about 15 minutes. Sometimes I use an anti-frizz or extra body product, and sometimes I don't. I get nice results either way. Recently I got soaked in a snowstorm. I let my hair dry without brushing or fussing with it, and I was surprised to see it dry straight, shiny, and frizz-free. Oh, by the way, my hair is past shoulder length, and layered.

I recommend taking the time to watch the DVD and read the little manual before you start. There are a few important steps, such as figuring out where to set the tension control. (The dial is for this purpose, and has nothing to do with heat control, as one reviewer seemed to think.) It's also important to draw the appliance slowly through your hair. The slower, the better.

I'm really very happy with this dryer. I don't know if I'll ever use my flat iron or other hair dryers again! It's just too lovely to be able to do it all in one step, with one tool. There is a diffuser available for the Infiniti, too. I'm considering ordering it. Maybe it would actually dry my hair in waves rather than frizz.

I love this mirror and would recommend it to anyone. It is relatively easy to install to the wall. You can adjust the mirror by folding out the accordian and also by pulling it up slightly at an angle. The mirror itself swivels as well as tilts up or down, making this extremely functional in getting it posed to just the right angle. The mirror and finish clean easily and the entire product is well made. I literally have used it once or twice a day for about a year now, and it always stays where adjusted without slipping. I was very excited to get this in but I guess I should have considered what I was going to do with the cords. It is very convenient to have all of my hair tools in one spot but now I have all these long cords everywhere that definitely get in the way. Also, the hair dryer I have, does not fit in the slot that is supposed to be for a hair dryer. I just have one I bought at CVS. If I could do it again, I would have probably went with something else seeing as this is not that cheap.

This straightener is my first straightener. I have pretty curly hair down to around my shoulders, and the first time I straightened my hair was with a friend who had a very expensive straightener (around 150 dollars, I think). My hair was beautiful, and I was determined to do it on my own again. So I bought this.

The straightener does the job. It takes a long time, but it does the job. However, even if my hair is perfectly straight, within three to five hours, the ends are curling up again. By the next day, my hair looks limp and unmanaged, because it's half straight-half curly. By the third day, I am so sick and tired of it that I wash it.

It could very well be that I am not using it correctly. I have never straightened my hair alone before, and the last few times with this straightener have not come out well. If it is due to my own inexperience, then it may very well be a great straightener. My hairdresser recommended it, not having tried it, but having a friend of a friend who had. I would recommend this straightener just because it does do the job if you only need it for a special occasion for about a day, and it's not too expensive, but if you're going to be straightening your hair regularly for long periods of time, I would find something else.

However, apparently nobody makes a wall mounted hair dryer with cool shot any more. I bought this dryer because it has 2 heat settings and 3 speeds. To my surprise and delight, 2 of the 3 speeds have a very low heat setting not quite a "cool shot", but low enough to serve the purpose. I like this hair dryer a lot.

As you can probably tell my wife loves her new flat iron. I had a chance to Skype with her today and for the first 30 minutes all she wanted to talk about was her new flat iron by Onei.

Her top three pros:

1 WAY faster straightening than other flat irons she's used in the past. What used to take her almost 2 hours (she has a lot of hair), now only takes her about 20 minutes. "I would feel comfortable straightening my hair before work with this. I mean, I would totally have enough time to."

2The Onei flat iron doesn't burn her hands. Every other flat iron she's used would get hot to the touch around the pads, or where you grip the tool. She explained that on flat irons there are places that you have to push to clamp in on your hair. On other flat irons the places your fingers touch would heat up and get very uncomfortable. With the Onei flat iron the pads stayed cool enough to keep on straightening without any discomfort.

3 The Onei flat iron heats up fast and cools down fast. She was really surprised at how fast the thing heated up. She also really likes that she didn't have to leave the iron out on the counter, where our son might be able to pull it down, because it cools down so fast.

After reading countless reviews of flat irons of various brands and price points, I decided to purchase the Onei MK-I Halo. I am so happy with my decision! I truly believe that this flat iron will last for years. I had never heard of this brand, but the glowing reviews lead me to take the plunge. This small company seems to be devoted to putting out a quality product for its customers.

What I like:

Automatic shutoff. This was a must for me, as I drive myself crazy wondering whether or not I turned the flat iron off. This feature was surprisingly hard to come by, but this may be because many professional flat irons are used for extended periods of time and therefore wouldn't want or need the iron to turn off after 30 minutes.

Heats up quickly. I turn on the iron, and it's heated and ready to go by the time I grab my hairbrush and spritz on some heat protectant. This is great, as I usually don't have a moment to spare in the mornings.

Adjustable heat with exact temperature reading. The iron heats up to a maximum of 450 degrees, but I usually leave it on 360.

It's just pretty.

Other features:

The cord is extremely long. This could be a benefit for some people, but I don't really need it. Since I found myself stepping on the extra cord, I tied up the excess with a cable tie.

The swivel cord seems to work really well. I don't anticipate any kinks or tangles.

How it works:

My hair is basically straight, has a mind of its own, and loves to flip out at the ends. I always thought it looked fine when I left the house, only to discover that it had morphed into a hot mess by the time I get to work. I didn't expect a new flat iron would make a difference, but it did! I use it to straighten and smooth my shoulder-length bob. The rounded plates allow me to gently curve the ends under, and that's exactly how they stay. My style stays sleek and shiny all day, and I couldn't be happier!

Quality:

This plates are smooth and glide through my hair. The iron feels solid in my hand, but is not too heavy. The black plastic panel on the top tends to squeak when I press it with my thumb, but the wand seems very well crafted in spite of that. I have handled several well-known (and very expensive) flat irons in stores, and I believe that the Onei is of equal or better quality.

Overall:

I am very pleased with my purchase. My daughter loves it, too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to a friend.

I have to admit I'm disappointed in this product. I started using a flatiron 2 years ago and had purchased a mid-grade Revlon model. Since I use it daily, I wanted to purchase a better one in hopes of better results (faster, higher temperature and a smoother finish to my hair). The only thing this delivered is the first thing--it heats up faster. Other than that, my $40 Revlon one gives a better end result. I am thinking of returning it.

I have naturally wavy hair and I have been using flat irons for years, I have found some great ones and I have found some bad ones. I have also seen some brands that were great get sold to some big company who wanted to make them cheaper and they turned into a bad flat iron...(I'm looking at you, Chi) I look for quality. The 4 year warranty on this one says quite a bit about them standing up for their quality. (Chi went to a one year warranty when they went down in quality).

The first thing I liked about this flat iron is that the edges of the plates are rounded off . You don't always see that but it allows for hair to run through the flat iron smoothly, with no edges to pull at your hair. This also makes it far more easy for you to curl or flip your hair with the flat iron (great on my bangs, for example.)

Secondly, the plates "float" This means, unlike many of the cheaper irons, when you press on them, you will feel a springiness or some "give". This allows more movement when you are styling with less damage to the hair when doing so because the give is in the iron rather than the hair follicle.

I never buy a blow dryer or flat iron with out the ionic energy--it honestly does protect hair and add shine. The better models now always include this, as does this flat iron.

You can regulate the temp from 150 to 450 and a bright ion display shows you the temperature. I did use my laser meat thermometer to measure what this read against it's true temperature and it measured accurately.

Overall, it has all the components that make for a great flat iron, but most importantly it works well on my hair and leaves less damage.

I bought this flat iron after reading all the positive reviews on Amazon. At first I was a bit skeptical because I had a CHI for so long and liked it, but I'm very glad I bought the Onei because it does a very good job straightening my hair. My one criticism is that it's not dual voltage. I travel a lot, so I'd have to take a converter with me, but for this price I wish it was dual voltage.

We're very happy with this heat emitter. We purchased it to warmup a smaller 3w x 5h x 5deep chicken coop. We considered a heated floor mat or a heated wall panel, but went instead with this ceramic bulb, as the wattage was the same or higher than the matts and the cost was less. And, we're happy we did. The ceramic heat emitter keeps the coop nice and toasty for our 9 chickens on those cold New England winter days and nights. Bought this to keep my Sulcata tortoises outdoor enclosure warm through winter. Installed it but woke up and saw that the temperature was at 40F! Took a look and saw the that the ceramic bulb was hanging by a wire from the base. I ripped the other wire off and took the base out with some pliers. I found another lightbulb base and soldered one wire through the top and the other on the outside and around the edge of the base making sure that the two wires couldn't touch. Once that was done I used JBweld, a two part epoxy, to glue both pieces together. Other than that it was cheap and works well.

Worked great for my 5'x5'x3' enclosure for my iguana.

I received it exactly 2 months ago today and i saw my enclosure was in the high 60's. took the heater out and it has something loose rolling around. sounds like the coils inside failed and fell apart.

But the other heaters i have, made by another company, for the other reptiles are on their 3rd and 4th years. Wont by zilla again.

We purchased this lamp to keep our hedgehog warm, and it lasted less than a month. After a few days of procrastination, we just went to look for the receipt, and low and behold! We are ONE DAY beyond the return window.

If a $40 heat lamp were to last even six months, I'd consider it reasonable (though far from a good value). This thing is junk, and apparently *known* to be junk, as evidenced by the return policy of one month.

Too bad. If it worked for a conscionable length of time, it would be a good solution for a lot of pet owners. But try to find something else. This thing is a waste of money.
