I've had a Cortex 1" platinum for about 2 years now. I have no complaints with its performance, and my hair is very healthy. No split ends and growing well. I only use it once a week to straighten after air-drying, and only turn the temperature up to halfway (approx 275 degrees). NEVER EVER EVER buy a flat iron without a temperature control, no matter which brand you buy. Irons without a temperature control heat to about 400-450 degrees!!! It's impossible to have healthy hair when you burn it at temperatures hotter than you cook meat. I recently went on a girls' vacation, and one of my friends who forgot her FHI at home asked to use my Cortex. After using it she was just gushing about how good it worked and how her hair felt so soft and smooth, and that her FHI left her hair feeling "crunchy". As soon as we got back home she ordered a Cortex for herself!

The only caveat I would give is that I think the 1" is good for hair up to shoulder length. If your hair is longer, you may want a wider plate, depending on your personal preference. I am considering getting a 1-3/4" or 2", and while I'm tempted to try something new like a Solia or Sedu, I really don't feel like gambling that much money on a flat iron that may not perform as good as this one, so I am pretty sure I will end up getting a 2" Cortex.

Oh and I almost forgot! The red light on the unit goes OFF when it is not actively heating up (i.e., it reaches the set temperature). The red light is only ON while it is initially heating up, or when it cools off a bit and needs to re-heat to get back to the set temperature. At first I thought it was broken, because I was used to irons where the light always stays on, but that is not the case with this one.

I bought my Cortex flat iron at a mall kiosk over 2 years ago. What I love most about this iron is that it does not give me the burnt hair smell and it leaves my hair shiny without any additives. My scalp is very sensitive and I usually do not put anything in my hair because it will make my scalp itch all day. With this iron I did not need to add anything and my hair would look great for days.

Another thing I like about the iron is that its tempature is adjustable up to 450 degrees and it takes only a minute to get hot. No more waiting for the iron to heat up.

My sisters and girlfriends love how my hair looks after I use the flat iron on it and they are always asking to borrow it that sometimes I cannot remember who borrowed it last. When I bought mine over two years ago at the mall I paid $99.99 and the MSRP is $225. I was able to find them on amazon for $26.50; so this year I gave all my sisters and girlfriends one for Christmas. Everyone was ecstatic over their gift.

My daughter got this as a gift. She wanted a Chi but they were so expensive that we decided to try this one since it had different temperature settings. It works great. The first two that were shipped to us were damaged in transit somehow and the company quickly sent a new one each time and also paid returned shipping. This company has great customer service! Save your money, ladies! I should have known better after seeing all of the reviews across the web talking about how they got theirs in Marshalls or at Ross. THE MODELS SOLD IN TJ MAXX, MARSHALLS AND OTHER DISCOUNT STORES ARE KNOWN TO HAVE MANUFACTURING IRREGULARITIES. Most brand name or high-end items sold in those discount stores are there FOR A REASON. Very little of it is actually "overstock" or "end of season". Usually, the items didn't pass quality control for retail sale. That doesn't always mean it's outright defective...but in the case of this iron, that's exactly what it means! Read around the web a little bit and you'll see people mention problems that are OUT OF THE BOX defects. What's worse? The "limited lifetime warranty" is totally void unless you buy it from the manufacturer. Even if you DO buy it from them, they want $24 to ship it in for "repair"...even though it's DEFECTIVE. Considering I paid $34 for it, it's not worth $24 for "repair", I've wasted my money and time.

I saw another person's review where she said her iron came with the plates slightly crooked and it snagged her hair. Well, same here. The "arms" don't close properly, they don't align. (Imagine if you tried to push your teeth together if your jaw and bottom teeth weren't straight with your top teeth.) So while most good irons are supposed to have a minuscule amount of space between the plates when you close them, the plates on mine actually touch all the way (no space in between) on the very tip...and it rips out several strands of hair on EVERY PASS. Maybe this wouldn't be a big deal for certain hair types...oily hair or hair with glossy chemicals. I'm your typical white girl of Swedish descent with average-thickness hair, that is 80% straight. I've owned an FHI, a Chi, and a TIGI Bedhead iron. I'm not a newbie. My hair shouldn't be getting ripped out every time I run the iron through. Speaking of...I wasn't really impressed with the heat on this iron. Despite having straight white girl hair, I still had to turn it up to 400 and I still had to run it through the same strands multiple times. It might have something to do with the crooked plates, but does it even matter at this point? The thing is unusable, don't get RIPPED OFF like me!

March 7: Update -Amazon allowed me to exchange the iron, the replacement is arriving today. I'll update the review after trying it out a few times this week.

March 13:

DO NOT BUY!!!!! The replacement iron is even more messed up than the first one. The ceramic plates weren't bent as much, no, instead ONE HAS A CHIP! Not only that, but it doesn't close straight either. And it doesn't seem to keep heat the way the first one did. THEY BOTH RIP MY HAIR OUT ON EVERY PASS. These were just poorly designed for non-African hair. Which is ridiculous, a good flat iron works on anybody's hair. I'm getting my money back, it was a mistake to think I could get a REALLY good quality flat iron for less than $90.

When my Hot Tools straightener broke (my fault, not the product's), I had to wheel down to my local Walmart to get a replacement fast. I got a product that shall not be named because it was so useless. I knew that I needed to replace it with something GOOD and I needed to do it fast so I jumped on Amazon to get a duplicate of the straightener I had. Well, after reading the reviews I chose to get the Cortex flat iron instead. Good choice on my part. I LOVE it.

I heats up quickly, it's got a temperature dial in case I ever need it at less than full heat (not likely with my hair), and it leaves my hair super shiny.

I have no negatives to report on this product. It's great!

The ring is beautiful, it looks so much like Elena's ring, better than any other one I have seen. The only down side is that it turns my finger green. Though for a 10 dollar ring, it is to be expected. I've lined the inside with clear nail polish and that's kept the green finger syndrome down to a minimum. So its a simple fix. Worth it considering the cost.

I ordered the size eight of this product and it was too loose on my three fingers that size eight fits on, so I took it to the jewelry store and it was a size eight and three quarters, almost a nine. That doesn't please me, that tells me I should of ordered from TVmerch where I got Stefan's ring and Bonnie's necklace, since Stefan's ring is the right size, nothing bigger or smaller.

It's been a few months since I reviewed this and I'm actually starting to like my ring, I don't always wear it so it doesn't turn my finger green and when it's hot here my the three extra quarters in the size don't matter because it fits right and the silver hasn't tainted and not one of the rhinestones fell out yet and the lapis is still perfect, I actually like it compared to the smaller size I ordered from TVmerch, their ring was not what I ordered, the size was right, but one of it's rhinestones fell and the lapis stone is lopsided, irony no? haha :)

It looks a lot nicer than some of the cheaper tool holders and my tools fit in it perfectly. The cords area is a little slimmer than I imagined to fit a surge protector and the bundles of cords from three appliances. The only thing I can say I don't like is the fact that there is only one cord hole on the back of it on the right side. I could have used it on the left side for a neater appearance since my outlet is on the left. I wish it came in other colors, although the color looks alright its a little beachier than my current decor, white/cream would have blended better with my bathroom. It was a little pricey but so far I am happy with it and glad I can store my hair tools neatly out in the open rather than in a drawer or left out on the counter with the cord taking up the whole area.

I LOVE this thing. It was a little awkward at first, but it didn't take long to get used to it.

My hair is fine, shoulder length and curly. If I let it dry naturally, it looks out of control and messy (cute on some, but not on me.) When I use the Hot Tools 1079 on damp hair, I get a nice, smooth blow dry with some fun shaping in under 10 minutes. I've tried a couple other hot air brushes and this is my hands down favorite. It also works on dry hair for touch ups. AND I've gotten unsolicited compliments.

I was devastated when my Wigo airbrush broke and I couldn't find one anywhere, so I was very relieved and grateful when I found out about this product through people's online comments. This Hot Tools airbrush is exactly the same as the Wigo one except the barrel is purple. Basically I wanted a new curling brush to replace one that rarely got used but broke anyway. I have used this brush several times now and really like the performance and versatility. Quick heat, curls as much or little as you like and can just do my ends and bangs super quick but looks great and lasts ALL day. The buttons take some getting used to and the controls are a little bulky but the RETRACTABLE BRISTLES make it all worth the learning curve. Over all I am very pleased.

Pros: Makes great curls/waves, leaves hair shiny, heats almost instantly, LOVE the retractable bristles, dries as you smooth or curl, curl holds longer when styled from damp to dry, cooling button sets curl well, long cord lets you move around (ie: stand and flip hair upside down, etc), adjustable heat/speed buttons for maximum control, much easier and more effective than blow dryer and brush, minimize damage with ceramic/ion tech, 1 1/4" barrel is the perfect size for big body or curls so you get best of both with only one tool, barrel detaches easily to pack/store or clean.

This is one of those classic cases of, "You can't judge a book by its cover." I have good things, as well as bad things to say about this purchase, but overall, I am pleased and happy with what I purchased at the price of which I paid.

PROS: Obviously I am going to start out with the good things about this product!

Sleek appearance. These brushes have a professional look with the sleek handles.

Wide variety of eye brushes. This set is primarily a brush set focused on the eyes. You are given three brushes designed for your overall face.

SOFT BRISTLES. This one was HUGE for me. I recently spent much more on a set of "professional" brushes and was very disappointed at how stiff the bristles were. I actually ended up RETURNING them, and I rarely return make up products.

Easy to store. With the carrying pouch allowing you to roll up the brushes, it makes it super easy to keep them organized.

Shipped with extra protection. When I opened this product, I found that the pouch was tightly rolled up, tied, and placed in a cellophane wrapper. When I unrolled the pouch, I found that each brush was wrapped in cellophane separately, and the face brushes actually come with hard plastic protectors to keep on at all times. I really thought this was great, since the larger brushes can so easily become mis-shaped.

CONS: Cause every review has to have em right?

SMELL. The smell when you take this out of it's box will literally almost knock you over. It is terrible! This is where my comment, "You can't judge a book by its cover," or by its smell in this case. Seriously, prepare yourself!

The pouch itself. The pouch was a huge let down in my opinion. However, I did not buy this product for the case. So if you are buying this because you really want a carrying case, don't buy this product. The seems were sewn together VERY sloppy, and some of the sections that divide the brushes appeared to not have been sewn shut at all! Very disappointing in this aspect.

There is an extremely weird powder on these brushes when you open them. If you read the product description very closely, it says to be SURE to wash these brushes before your first use. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't read anything else in this review, which you really should because I KNOW my make up products, make SURE you read this. When I took the brushes out of the cellophane wrappers and ran my fingers through the bristles, this weird, gross smelling powder went flying into the air. Now, I am giving this company the benefit of the doubt by assuming this powder was something that settled in these bristles upon shipment.

OVERALL, I really do like this product and for the price, I am very happy I bought it. BUT you NEED to make sure you wash these before you use them. Trust me, you do NOT want that smelly, gross stuff on your face. DO NOT WASH THESE BRUSHES WITH YOUR SHAMPOO OR DISH SOAP! These products are WAY too harsh, and they will strip your bristles. However, I am in no way saying you need to go spend $15.00 on "special brush soap." I use and have always used baby shampoo on my brushes, even my expensive ones. It works great and easily washes out. Also, make sure you re-shape your brushes once you have them washed and that you let them COMPLETELY dry before you try and use them.

Here's what my experience has been with the brushes:

They look professionallove the colors. The bristles in mine were actually black which I prefermakes it easier to see what's on them since I use a lot of light or saturated colors. They're soft and the application is very smooth and well-covered compared to many other brushes. I love the variety of sizes. What I dislike is the smellI soaked mine in a body mist and rinsed before I used themvery potent scent when you open them. Also the pouch..don't plan on using that in any sort of regularity. It's not well constructed and it doesn't look nearly as neat or clean as the brushes themselves. If you're using the brushes either personally or professionally, highly recommend getting a good make up removerthese brushes cover so well that you'll really want to clean up or your foundation will wind up on your pillows/clothes at night. What works best for me is a tonerWitch Hazel Rose Petal Toner with Aloe Vera + FREE Retinol Cream. Smells wonderful and cleans/moisturizes while removing the make up. Works on eyes too if you're not dosing your pads in it.

First let me start by saying I love how fast I got these brushes! I ordered then August 26 and they were here on August 27. I used Amazon prime 2day free shipping. My case I received was a metallic green, the case itself obviously will not stay together forever and why should it, its made of cheap vinyl but anyway for 25 dollars you can't complain. The case has embossing on the lower right corner of the opening flap. It reads "Profound" my guess is that is the makers trademark. Opening the case you will notice it is held shut by two large silver magnetic snaps. The snaps are just punctured into the vinyl so once they come out they are gone for good. Each brush is held in place netting. The brushes that are sown in the first picture are not ALL the ones you will receive.

The brushes you should receive will be as follows: Two blush brushes, One large, one medium. A fan brush, A mascara brush, you should have one foundation brush (this will be the largest of the flat paint brush looking ones)you will have two concealer brushes that look almost identical, they are not, one is slightly longer and the brush is a bit wider then the other. you will have an angled brush that is best used for lining the top of the lids, a small lip brush, a brow comb/brush and an applicator. Each brush will come in plastic wrap to protect the brush. Four of the brushes will have a strong plastic "topper" keep the plastic that comes with the lip brush, fan brush and two blush brushes to help these keep their shape ladies.

The bristles on these brushes appear to be glued in fairly well, again for 25 dollars you shouldn't complain you are not getting M.A.C. brushes nor are you getting Dior. So if you are going to complain then just do yourself a favor and don't buy the brushes.

I will add my pictures of the case and each brush as soon as I find the connector to my digital camera. Then you can see what I think are more accurate photos of each brush..

These were my first makeup brushes. I have now built up my collection with mostly Sigma and Coastal Scents brushes, a few MAC. Let me just tell you: you get what you pay for with these brushes. They are extremely cheaply made and smell like harsh chemicalssomething you really don't want on your face, applying makeup. The smell started to fade after I washed them a couple times, but every time I wash them they shed like crazy. Definitely beginner's brushes, because of the quality. Lastly, the title says 13 brushes, when you only get 12. I'll also do a mini review on each brush:

1. Small definer liner/lip brushI've tried this for red lipstick, it was OK, but it sheds like CRAZY.

2. Large powder/blush brushOK, but definitely not "fluffy," like you would like to apply powder or blush. It's more flat, and does shed a little.

3. Small powder/blush brushAgain, only OK. The plus is that it doesn't really shed.

4. Brow/Lash combLOVE THIS. I use it every day. Great for blending brows and getting rid of mascara clumps!!

5. Concealer brushGood, firm concealer brush.

6. "Foundation" brushTINY. Basically another concealer brush.

7. Angled brushNOT FIRM AT ALL. Too frayed and thick for eyeliner, maybe good for brow powder.

8. Sponge applicator brushMeh. It's okay, if you like those. Might as well just take the free ones that come with drugstore eyeshadows.

9. Fan brushTINY. Again, not big enough, like the foundation brush, to do anything. Maybe dust away eyeshadow fallout, but that's it..

10. Standard eyeshadow brushStandard. Nothing special.

11. "Pencil" smudge brushNot firm enough to be a pencil brush. Tiny.

12. "Crease" blending brushTINY. OK, but really only for people with smaller eyes.

All in allyou get what you pay for. Not worth it in my opinion. The brushes are also all too small to be usable. The only brush that I use everyday and love is the brow/lash comb. Not worth $12.

we liked this one since it has all antural hair, compare to the one for $100 s , I rather get this one. the color of my pouch was gold, however I wish I had a choice for pouch color. its sent to you randomly. unless you call them and ask for specific colors. beside all of these, quality is not questionable,hairs are perfectly glued to the hadnle and since last week, I dont see any sign of damage or sepration on hairs. they are very soft and trendy, I do recommend this item.

It's a nice quality wig for it's price. It's chestnut brown, soft, and realistically shiny. However, it's not as long or as curly as I expected or as the picture makes it seem. Considering I purchased the wig for it's curliness, I was disappointed. It also takes a long time to be deliveredI ordered at the end of August to NY, and delivery estimate was by Oct. 16. It did come a week early. If you're looking for a medium length (on me it falls past my shoulder blades), wavy/semi curly chestnut brown wig,and you don't need it right away, you'll be satisfied. Been wanting one of these types of dryers for a while, this one works ok for me. Out of the box it looks pretty cheaply made...I almost didn't think it would start, but it did. I use it for deep conditioning and drying my hair with setting lotion. I measured & it comes down about 9 in. in the back and about 8 in. in the front which may not be enough room for large rollers. It has a timer up to 60 min., cool, low, & high heat settings, but the hot is pretty hot and low is pretty low, so if you're looking for something in between this may not be it.

I've had it for about 3 weeks now & I'm happy, but I got it for $49.99 locally which I think is fair for the quality of this dryer. I wouldn't pay $120 though...not for this one at least. If you're going to shell out that kind of cash I'd go on & pay a little extra for a name brand, so definitely shop around. If you live in the DFW area I got mine from Jenny Beauty Supply on Cockrell Hill.

When I received the item I contacted the seller because I thought it was too big for my head and thought there was an insert to make it smaller. She explained to me that it is supposed to have gaps and does not fit like a headband. My beautician thought it was a little odd but she knows I'm always trying new things. Well, it worked as advertised. It kept the hot air off my face, out of my eyes and off my ears. I was using those "ear cups" which worked very well but I had difficulty using my ear buds to listen to music while waiting for my hair to dry. This item has solved all of my problems including stopping me from falling forward from under the dryer when I would drop off to sleep. The front of the shield would hit the front of the dryer when my head drooped forward causing me to wake up. For people like me who have long hair that grows low on the nape of the neck, be mindful of how you roll it. I had to make mine loose.

My previous hair dryer was also Revlon, and I was very happy with it, used it for 4 years. This one though so, so much better. Very powerful and at the same time gentle to the hair, I really love it! My hair is very long and thick and it dries it in about 10 minutes, which compare to the previous one is half the time. The item showed up at my door & I was very excited to begin with until I opened the package and the hair was shorter than I imagined. Especially being that I buy hair weave all the time. I always purchase the 22'' & the 10'' because I like my hair to look layered when I go to curl it. The 10''S that came in the mail is much shorter than my natural hair!! I'm a little disappointed but that's okay ill work with it.
