I have had the hair dryer for approximately 4 months and it sparked and broke today! The handle would get hot each time I used it...not sure if it was due to the Ion light, but it would get hot. Today, the machine sparked and the plastic melted. Waste of money.

Additional comments: When it worked, the machine wasn't too loud; the flow of air was decent; the hot setting could have been hotter.

As an update, I wanted to let the readers know that I sent an email to Andis letting them know that the product I bought lasted just over three months. A few days after writing the email, I received a response which said they will be sending me a new dryer. I'm relieved to know that I do not need to spend additional money returning the broken product and that they are replacing the item without cost. I'm hoping that the new dryer lasts for years and that I only experienced an isolated quality issue.

FURTHER UPDATE 8/23/12....I'VE BEEN USING THE REPLACEMENT HAIR DRYER FOR A YEAR AND IT'S WORKING LIKE A CHARM!

I have owned this dryer for about 6 months, and it is the best one I've ever had. It makes my hair so soft, silky, and bouncy--just like when I get my hair done at the Dominican salons with a blow out. I have very thick, course, Afro-American hair, and I've always hated blow drying my hair. It always turned out very dry and brittle--until I used this dryer (or went to the salon). I found it at Target for under $25, and it's definitely one of the best hair products I've ever used.

I have even tried a few other ionic-tourmaline ceramic dryers, but this one did my hair so much nicer.

i used this for the first time today and it definitely dried my hair faster than my old one. i have never owned a ceramic ionic hair dryer before and there does seem to be a difference. it didn't get as hot as my old one...the old one used to feel like it was burning my scalp or neck or hands, this one dries the hair faster without getting as hot! it's lightweight and did a solid job. the true test will be when i dry my daughters very long, very coarse hair!

This is a very good hair dryer. I was skeptical of it's ability because it isn't as strong as other ones that I have used. This works extremely well. It actually dries your hair in probably half the time as my last hair dryer. It has a great price also.

When I first pulled it out of the box I was surprised to find that mine at least had a sparkly finish but I decided to try it before passing any judgments on how the product works. I'm happy I did. The dryer has 6 settings each tailored to a different hair type, which is great. In addition to that handy perk, it also has instant cool for setting styles. My hair is always very soft and pretty after using the dryer. Glad to say that I love it!

I bought this hair dryer in a store where it was on clearance for much less than Amazon's current price. It's not exactly my first choice of aesthetic for a hair dryer (I'd prefer a color scheme that doesn't absolutely clash with my bathroom and every bathroom I ever take it in), but it's perfectly functional and does a good job.

What it doesn't say here (since there's no product description) is that it's a ceramic ionic dryer with an 8 foot cord, adjustable level of ions, two temperature settings: high and low heat (plus "cool shot" to set your 'do or give your head a momentary break from the heat), two power settings: high and low (plus power boost for quick powerful bursts), easy-clean lint block, and 3 snap-on attachments: a standard finger diffuser, a concentrator, and I'm not sure what the last is called but it's basically a double-row comb that I use to lift hair at the roots to avoid flat-top.

Looking at the Amazon image, the controls on the left side of the handle (toward diffuser end) from top to bottom are cool shot, power burst, rubber handle grip. On the right side, top to bottom, you have ion adjuster dial, high/low heat, and high/low power.

The snap-on attachments stay put, which is great compared to all the complaints on Amazon about diffusers flying off from dryers and/or assaulting people. These attachments will behave.

The three complaints I have about this dryer that take it down to 4 stars instead of 5 are these: 1) who has a bathroom in these colors?, 2) my hair is long enough to sometimes get caught in the end of the dryer where the air feeds in when I dry my hair upside-down, not something I've ever had happen with a dryer before, and 3) the finger diffuser is rather flat and not in a deep bowl, so it's harder to make sure the hair ends get properly styled.

I just bought this and am so happy with my purchase! I have extremely thick and long hair and it can to upwards of an hour to blow it dry. My old revlon dryer kicked the bucket the other day so I opted for this one after some research. It comes with three attachments and each one is awesome. I use the concentrator to get the bulk of my hair dry and then follow it with the pick for a straight look. The ions help create a smooth, frizz free look and my hair has never felt so good after a blow dry. If you have darkest brown/#2 hair the dark brown bang will not match your hair. I ordered the dark brown and it is more like a medium reddish brown. And its very, very, very, shiny. I'm going to buy some temporary hair spray to help it blend my hair and hopefully dull out some of the glare causing shine. You get what you pay for.

I got this for $12 plus shipping, so I shouldn't complain too much. It does its work fine. The ionizer works just the same as in the more expensive models. The difference is more in the accessories. the concentrator nosel opening is a little bit large, therefore blowing too much air and not concentrating it in a smaller space making it hard to style your hair. More speed settings would also be appropriate, but I repeat it more than worth it for the price.

This is my 4th time buying this hairdryer over the years. I really LOVE it when it works, but it always dies, usually with a pop and a burst of smoke. This last time, it only lasted 3 months. Usually they last about a year. Can't return it to Amazon, but you can return it to manufacture and pay for it to be returned. Not worth it. Might as well buy a new one. I think I've finally learned my lesson and will buy another brand.

A friend recommended this hair dryer and I was apprehensive about purchasing due to the cost. I've never paid over $40 for a hair dryer before this purchase. After using this hair dryer, I feel it is worth the price.

Pros:

-My hair looks great after drying (not frizzy like it is w/store bought). It is no longer necessary to use a flat iron or curling iron as it was before

-Long cord that will never twist

-Feel this this hair dryer is so durable it will last generations to come

Possible con for some customers:

-Heavy (for me it isn't difficult to use as it seems to dry hair more quickly and I don't need to use it as long as a store bought dryer)...the weight hasn't been an issue for me

-Cord is like those heavy duty extension cords...but this is something I like about the dryer.

I did a lot of research on rolling hairdryers before buying this, including reading reviews of products on Amazon. The model I have is BABHHDRIW. My hair is fine, normal porosity, normal elasticity, and I have a lot of it. In summer, I let it dry on its own, but in winter it takes hours and it's too cold to run around with wet hair. I'm newish at curly hair, having always used round brushes and hand drying sections at a time to style. In Southern California heat, it is too curly to maintain a smooth style, so I've been experimenting with products, sites, and equipment.

This Babyliss ProThermal roll-about drier is perfect. It is quiet more a hum but you may not want to have a conversation while it's on high and someone is speaking from the other room. I roll it out and sit under it while doing my makeup, leaving the clips in at the roots while it dries. Within 10-12 minutes, my scalp and whole head are dry enough to remove the clips. If you have longer hair mine is just past my shoulders when dry the ends may be set but still feel a bit damp.

The dryer was easy to put together; no need to be mechanical. A couple of rods that go together and the base screws on (you might want a wrench to tighten) and the bonnet slips on at the top. Very stable, not tippy, weighs maybe 15 pounds altogether. No frizz, doesn't blow your hair like a wind tunnel there are three settings, including a no-heat one with just light air. I love it.

This hooded dryer is perfect for drying my natural hair and I don't have to worry about going outside with wet hair. My husband also uses it to dry his hair, this way he doesn't have to worry about drying all of his hair at the same time. Blow dryers don't always get all of the hair dry. Just a few minutes my husband is out from under the dryer. I only stay under the dryer for 30 minutes or so. I use the medium heat, not the hot. You can always turn it to cool. I would recommend this product because it's so easy to put together and your hair gets an even distribution of heat.

This product is okay. I purchased it for a trip to Europe & haven't had a chance to try it there yet. I've been using it here to see how it will handle. I had a hard time finding a diffuser to fit it & the one I finally bought, Conair Pro Universal, fits but pops off during drying. Also, even though it is labeled for 1900 watts, it feels a lot cooler than my 1875 watt dryer I currently have. I hope I am not disappointed when I go on my trip & use the Euro setting.

I was extremely disappointed after purchasing this product. When I attempted to use it overseas on a recent trip, the plug would not fit in two different adapters I tried to plug it into the socket. I couldn't use it once on my 3 week trip. Additionally, in using it in the US, when it was on 110/120 voltage setting, I could only get the hair dryer to work on low setting. Also, there are only 2 settings on the hair dryer I received, not four as advertised or as it says on the box even. Very disappointed it didn't work when I needed it. Wouldn't recommend.
