I have A LOT of long, naturally curly hair that is fairly difficult for me to control and shape beyond just straightening. I purchased this iron to straighten and curl under or out at the same time (I hate doing 50 different steps to get my hair where I want it and I don't have the time).

This iron will get the job done if you keep your movement fluid with very few pauses during the curl. It heats up quickly and makes the job "easy" (relatively speaking).

However, I can't tell you how many times I've seriously burned my hands since I bought it and I rarely go above the lowest setting of 300. The settings are 300, 340, 375, 410, and 450, I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone needs a setting of 450!

My daughter has gotten into straightening her hair (she's 11) and I absolutely will not let her use this iron alone even though she uses my other very frequently and has no trouble. It just gets too hot.

If you're purchasing this iron, you'll be very pleased but use EXTREME caution with it because it's size and high temperatures make it easy to burn your hands or your head. I would not recommend this for young girls learning to style their hair unless an adult is helping even if they frequently use a larger iron on their own.

Woah...this is...totally amazing. Very inexpensive for being every little bit as competent as the expensive styling products I've blown absurd amounts of money on in the past. My wife's makeup mirror lost much of the mirroring material.

So, she needed a new one.

This mirror is similar to the older style type I bought for her as a gift many years ago from Basco.

This is a Very large triple makeup mirror with two Bright 9 watt flourescent light tubes.

18 Watt Florescent = about 100 Watts incandescent.

IMO, Appears to be one of the brightest makeup mirror avalable.

I looked at the ConAirs and we almost purchased one of the round styles with the light inside.

(but I realized they are not very bright)

I carefully read the negative reviews about this product.

That is why I had to take a chance and buy this mirror.

The reviews that caught my attention were that you need a professional electrical person to replace the bulbs.

And the reviewers that mentioned that the bulbs burned out after a few uses.

I have some electrical experience with light tubes.

My wife told me the bulbs burned out right away.

I came in and had to have a quick look.

No, The lights are not burned out.

The trick is the light is manufactured with the old fashion preheat ballast tubes. (old reliable technology)

In order to light the bulbs you must hold the "ON" switch DOWN for 5 to ten seconds then the lights light and you let go of the switch.

The light bulbs are very bright and should work well for years if you do not damage or drop the mirror.

My wife complains that she has to hold the "ON" button down.

But, the mirror is indeed extremely bright.

When a similar make-up mirrow that I had had for years finally died on me last year, I went out searching for a replacement. I tried the new style oval ones. They were just awful. The mirror was too small and the lighting was depressing. Then I found this one. It's wonderful. You get a decent sized front mirror and two side mirrors that are especially helpful to someone like me who is very myopic. The lighting somehow manages to be extremely flattering (which helps you feel better about yourself) while at the same time shows everything you need to see and possibly alter a bit.

I'm sorry about the reviewer who had a problem with the lights, but that was probably just something that went wrong with one mirror. Mine is a treasure and infinitely superior to the newer style ones out there today.

I have been using a mirror such as this one since I got handed-down my grandmother's old Clairol model in my teens. From the 5 or 6 models I have owned (all manner of brands and price ranges) this one is by far the best. It is brighter, and manages to reduces the "dark spots" that are so common in mirrors like this one.

The reviewer previous, who stated that the trick is in holding the "on" button, was exactly correct. I can see where less-patient souls may claim that the bulbs are burnt out or that the appliance is defective. More than likely, it is an operator error.

The mirror is sturdy and the adjustable angles are very helpful for using on various surfaces, such as when traveling. I will definitely look for this brand IF this mirror ever needs to be replaced.

I just ordered this for my mother. We received it and it was a surprise at every turn. First of all we got it in less than two days and it arrived via Fed Express (no extra charge). Then the packaging was among the best I have seen with glass products. But no peanuts or shredded paper mess all over everywhere when you opened the box. The product itself: The weight is a good solid weight. It has multiple angles you can place it at and the stand that you do this with, is heavy gauge metal that is placed in various grooves; not ALL plastic that you fear breaking, everytime you reset the angle. The lighting on both sides is done with tubular as opposed to "Nite Lights" that are used on many mirrors. This produces a phenomenal quality of lighting. There are multiple settings for the type of lightening, depending on the type needed: for outside, office, home, daytime, night time, etc. The large middle mirror can be flipped to reveal a 5x magnified mirror. Another plus is that there is a plug outlet on it so that you could plug in electric rollers, hair dryer or any electric device needed at your vanity. I have owned many make up mirrors in the last thirty years and I hesitated on this at first, because I was not familar with the name brand. I am sure glad I ordered it anyway. Tonight I am ordering another one for myself. I have a lighted mirror already, but I cannot pass on this one. I will use my other one for traveling. You cannot miss with this product. First I need to state that I'm not using this 12v "hairdryer" for hair, or deicing a windshield. I'm using it to clear up the dew that settles on the objective of a large amateur telescope, so I only need to warm it up slightly. Therefore, I'm not really putting it to any stressful use. It's a good thing as this blower is not really a solidly built piece of equipment. In fact, it should be handled with care as it is a bit flimsy. It gets warm, not hot. It blows gently, not hard. It has only a simple on-off. Folding the handle seems to be prone to causing the rear housing to separate from the rest of the blower, so don't do it! If dropped from a handheld height onto a hard surface I'm sure you will find it irrepairably dead. BUT! It's darned cheap, in build along with price. Obviously, I got what I paid for.

This is an excellent travel dryer both in size and in effectiveness.

I have shoulder-length thick hair and using the hotel dryer would take me 20+ mins just to get my hair to semi-dry (& this was using a super-absorbent hair towel prior to drying).

An effective dryer = high velocity for its size, and this little dryer delivers. This dryer easily out-performs others in the "Compact" range and most definitely in the Mini-range.

Pros:

* High velocity (speed of air) for its size

* 2 settings (high heat/speed:low speed/heat)

* Matt finish: a) enables better grip b) hides fingerprints

* Removable back-grate enabling filter cleaning.

* 6-ft cord

* Small size *almost* falls into "mini" category.

* Lightweight approximately 12oz/350g including concentrator nozzle.

* Does not sound like a lawnmower quiet.

* Dual voltage a true travel dryer.

* 10A surge so can be safely plugged into "Shavers Only" bathroom outlets and safely used with travel adapters without fear of tripping the breaker or burning the adapter.

If you don't need the dual voltage, can spare a few grams and another inch or two in the suitcase, Babyliss' other Compact Travel [single voltage] dryers deliver a higher air volume for even faster drying.

Note that this travel version's model number ends in "T" (for "dual-voltage Travel") and does not have the cool-shot feature that the non-travel/non-dual voltage (and otherwise the same) version has. Additionally, the non-travel version does not have the folding handle.

I ordered this product thinking it would at least be a small hair dryer since there were no measurements posted. It is 6" from top of dryer to bottom of handle, and 5 inches from front to back (without the additional plastic diffuser). It is exactly what I wanted size wise very easy to handle.

I am using the exact same shampoo, conditioner and mousse as before, but this dryer has given me more volume than I thought possible. It is 1000 watts, which is 200 more than the one I wore out (also a mini) so maybe that is why. I feared it would be too hot since I have fine, thin hair. There is a real difference using this little dryer. It is comfortable to use and the shine on my hair is better.

Now if you use the foam diffuser attachment as I do, you will have to put the plastic diffuser (included) on and then put on the foam one because the foam one will not stay on due to the small size of the dryer nozzle. Not a big deal, thank goodness or I would have had to return it. Be aware, there are few of these types of dryers available in a regular store. I've looked because I wanted to see what I was buying before I got it. Couldn't find anything like this anywhere. All dryers in the stores and beauty supplies are very high heat, like 1600 1875 watts which I did not want.

The heat temperature and air volume would work easily for medium to thick hair, though for very thick hair it probably wouldn't be as quick. For those of us with finer hair, this is perfect.

I totally recommend this dryer to anyone with fine hair and up to medium thickness. I think you would be as tickled with your purchase as I am. Other than the small nozzle opening to attach my foam diffuser to (solved by adding the included plastic diffuser), there is not one thing I can say about this dryer other than PERFECT FOR ME and surprising benefits with more volume to my hair than I thought possible.

After lugging my full-size dryer on a trip this past weekend, I decided it was time to look for a travel dryer again. Found this one here and just received it. What a surprise! It's like a mini version of my full-size dryer, same heat settings and nearly the same blowing power. The product description omits what the instruction guide says, which is that it's 1000 watts. But don't let that fool you. I just returned an 1875-watt Conair model that I purchased at Target; this little BaByliss is far superior. Blows very well and has better heat. Plus, it's tiny! It seemed to me that the little red BaByliss sold here on Amazon is even smaller, maybe too small, so I chose this model. It's still smaller than I expected, but it will work fine. I've had travel dryers before, but never one like this BaByliss. It costs more than many others listed here, but it's well worth it to me if it does a good job on my hair and fits neatly in the suitcase.

This curling iron does what it states...heats up quickly, doesn't pull on hair, lightweight, makes pretty curls. My only issue with it, which is not that big a deal but more of a nuisance, is that it does not save the heat setting that you want it to stay at. So for example I use it at 400. So every single time when I turn the curling iron on, I need to set it to 400. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

My long hair is stick straight and super fine, so sometimes it slips out of curling iron's grip, which can make it hard to style your hair. This gripped my hair tightly without tugging and there was enough heated iron to wrap my hair around several times and hot enough to heat all the way through the multiple wraps of hair.

My hair is hard to curl, so I was happy with the loose curls I got from this iron. The width is nice at 1 1/4 inch and I didn't feel like it made my bangs too poofy and 80's looking.

Warming pad was nice touch and fits nicely by the sink. I like that it turns off on it's own but not so quickly that you have to turn it back on while doing your hair. And the cord doesn't get tangled big bonus.

PROS:

I picked this up in my supermarket at a whim. I had not used a curling iron since, er....let's say the 80's ladies. I've used the flat iron at the suggestion of my hairstylist but could not make curls without there being a crease on one side so I stopped using it. I was surprised how much more advanced they have become. I remember the old school ones that had one heat setting and you burned your forehead trying to curl your bangs. No more with this one...you can adjust the setting. I set it to the lowest setting (220 degrees), and this is more than enough to curl my hair. I have fine straight color treated hair and am very careful not to further traumatize it. You can use some product as well to protect the ends (I use the Sammy brand found at my local market). I don't find it necessary to use hairspray to hold the curl like I did in the 80's which is an added plus!

I like that it is lightweight, heats up quickly, and has automatic shut off. I especially like that the curls last! This is huge as my experience having straight fine hair is that I can expect my curls to be non existent by the end of the day. I notice that when I wake up the next morning the curl is still there.

CONS:

Mine did not come with the heating pad, but I'm using a cork trivet instead and that seems to work fine. I'm sure pot holders would work as well.

The buzzing sound also was a bit concerning, until I looked at other reviews and they said the same thing. It is not your hair burning, just an odd sounds that it makes. I don't notice it as much now.

My only criticism is that the cool tip is the same color as the iron and handle so I could see myself not paying close attention and easily reaching for the wrong end and...ouch, I've just burned myself. I think they could have made the cooling tip a different color. So far this has not happened, but none the less a concern.

The packaging mentioned something about "ionic". It would be helpful to have a further explanation somewhere that tells you exactly what that is. I am familiar with the ionic hair dryers, but I'm sure this is very different.

Other than that, I really like it. It is a nice change of pace from my hot air curling brush, heats up fast, easy to use and works really well.

This curling iron is just okay. The barrel is a good size and it heats up quickly. My 1st complaint with the product is that when I turn it on it makes a noise like the motor is running. It's not very loud, but I have never had a curling iron make a noise the whole time it's turned on. My 2nd complaint is the tip of the curling iron is too small and is almost the same color as the barrel. When curling my hair I use both hands, one on the part below the barrel and the other on the top tip to help curl. This tip is much to small, so I keep touching the hot barrel. It doesn't help that the tip is almost the same color as the barrel. My 3rd and final complaint is that the buttons are placed in a bad area. When curling my hair, I accidently pushed the heat temp button, which made it get hotter without me knowing. I also pressed the on/off switch by accident. I only realized I turned it off when the motor sound stopped. The buttons are right where your hand needs to be placed. Since it was so inexpensive, I'm debating if I want to keep it or return it.
