My husband (firefighter) had a nasty habit of leaving the blowdryer on the bathroom counter "until it cooled off". Everytime I walked into the bathroom, there'd be the clean counter with the blowdryer sitting on it so I'd wind up the cord and put it in the cabinet. EVERYDAY. So for Christmas, I got hubby this blowdryer and we all love it. Colors are not too white, more ivory and light taupe, but very neutral. The kids can all use it easily (5 yrs and up), simple on/off button on the base, hi/lo on the dryer handle and it gets put away -right away. It took five minutes to hang, we plugged it right into the outlet and I love it!

I don't know how the other oster/Sunbeam hair dryer types work. i;'ve heard stories with product defecting, melting plastic etc, as for this one, it's sturdy, strong base, metal plate is used for mounting, in addition, GFCI shock protection outlet plug, and night light included. I don't know how long the night light will work for, however, it's been two months and I have no problems with it. only disadvantage is that the on/off button is on the base of the product, so if ur arm is far from the base, it's inconvenient to turn off. Unlike the other products with on/off switch on the hairdryer itself. I would still purchase this one over anything else due to it's popularity in hotels, raving reviews from others, and personal satisfaction with product. enjoy.

Works OK but mount design is poor. Unit does not sit flat against the wall. There is a high spot in the center which hooks onto the wall bracket. Because of the small area against the wall, the unit rocks and there is a 1/4" gap all around the edge. Don't understand why they didn't make the back side flat.

Since the 6th grade I have owned/used a succession of Conair dryers, replacing them when they inevitably die after 3-4 years. This is the first time I have used an ionic dryer-I actually just wanted another "regular" dryer but I found out they're not as easy to find now (yet another sign I am behind the times). I've used this dryer for a month now and it's great! Before, I used the fastest setting along with the hottest setting, but with this dryer I use "medium" and it STILL dries my hair faster (btw, I have long, very straight hair). Also, my hair is a bit smoother & softer than with the old dryer--not enough for someone else to notice--but I noticed it from the first use. P.S. I originally got the Conair #174TB Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer model (2.8 lb), but it was too heavy. If this is a concern for you, compare weights. This model (199D) is 2.15 lb--what a difference!

Actually, the FIRST one is still running GREAT. We needed a second one in our guest bathroom and I searched for the exact same model. What we like about this dryer is:

3) the filter on the back pops off for cleaning, which is FANTASTIC. Great engineering design in this regard.

My mom bought this dryer for herself about 5 or more years ago, and like every good daughter I stole it from her b/c I love it so much. I have used now nearly everyday for year and love it. I will say that I am not one to spend a lot on hair dryers so I have never owned anything that was super expensive, to compare it to on a daily basis, but I do have friends that have super expensive styling products, and I end up bringing my own dryer instead of taking forever to use theirs. In the mean time I have used other dryers in hotels, at friends, etc., but those even with the same wattage do no compare when it comes to air flow. The heat settings are perfect too, but what I really love is the amount of air flow. Now it is time to retire mine b/c I have dropped it too many times, and although it still works, I think a hair dryer that costs about $20 looks pretty bad all taped up, so I think I am just going to order a new one that's just the same.

In search of the perfect dryer. While I don't know if one exists, this comes pretty darn close. It smooths my hair, keeps down the frizz and dries in no time flat. The air flow is incredible. I've tried other "turbo" dryers and they don't even come close. Love the fact that it has 3 heat settings. I usually use the middle and lowest one as the top gets really hot. Adjustable air flow on the back of the body is really cool too. If you don't want it to blow your hair around too much, just switch it back to normal air flow. I always use it on Max Air flow. Love it. I've been searching for this ever since my first one died on me. Bought 4 others since. They have been given away since I found this on Amazon. I ordered two just to be safe. Great dryer. You won't be disappointed. Oh and btw, I have long hair which takes a long time to dry. This cuts it into half the time. That's worth its weight in gold anyday.

After some researching I found out it's a CONAIR product, so I called them and was informed that it has a 4 year warranty. I sent it to CONAIR and they replaced it... I have super curly hair, and I couldn't believe that I didn't have to iron it afterwards. That's how good it is! BUT after a year, it died out. Ugh... But if you want a blower that will last you longer than that, I advise you to buy another one. YES its that good, but really it's not if it doesn't last. Any good reviews that you see here haven't owned it for a year yet --GUARANTEED. But they won't be very happy when they get there. Another con is the coating. I had to wrap my blower with a cloth or towel to prevent the coating from coming off. It looks old and dirty and hideous unless you protect the coating. No joke, if you don't, it will come off. But who want to sit there and wrap it every time? It was a pain. But hey, I figured I'd give you my 2 cents being an owner of this for 2 years and owning 2 of these blowers. Bad investment overall. $60 x2 blowers = $120 on something that lasted me 1 year per blower which was a total of 2 years? I don't think so. The hair dryer works fairly well. I don't have a complaint about how it dries. My complaint is how it's built. The red coating is coming off, and it's a sticky mess. And no, it's not "just dirty". I dont even use product in my hair until after my hair is dry, so is not that something is coming off my hands and dissolving it.

It's yucky, but it still works, so I feel bad buying a new one.

Worth every single penny. My mom gave me a hard time for spending the loot on this unit, but honestly, it's such a great price here compared to retail, it wasn't all that bad. And the results? AMAZING! She actually asked me if I was wearing a wig because my hair was so shiny (a real feat for a 52 year old woman...with age hair gets dull). Best Part? I had her try it, and her silver strands were just as shiny and soft when she finished. It dries fast, and about the only thing I can find a bit negative is the placement of the on/off switch. What an incredible dryer. I have a mountain of thick, long curly hair thanks to my biracial heritage so finding a dryer that can power through these curls without frying my hair has been my life's mission. I love the dryers at the Dominican salons I go to here in NYC but they always seem to be too darn hot and my hair looks great but my scalp is burned off! This dryer provides the right amount of heat with serious power and is easy on the arms. It's not the most quiet, but it's not exactly loud either. This is a fantastic Hair Dryer, its quiet and easy to handle due to its light weight. However, there are a few problems. The instructions say to remove attachment tip if using to dry hair on the high setting and I could not get the tip off easily because it was glued on by the manufacturer. It also says to utilize the tip only if styling on the low setting, and I'm unable to reattach it so it will stay on. The other flaw was the red light on the handle which stays on while plugged in, even when turned off so unplugging it each time after use is wise. The high setting is more like a low setting but does dry your hair in only a few minutes. Works well with the 220v setting but doesn't come with a wall plug adapter.

Many travel hair dryers I encountered were quite crummy this one, by contrast, is nice. It sits well in the hand. Air flows is nicely out, seemingly in consequence of some rational considerations of that flow in design. Unlike most travel dryers, that block one of the heat settings at the higher voltage, this dryer has a true double voltage selection separate from the heat selection, i.e. at both voltage settings you have the same two heat/speed settings available. In travel I use a dryer to finish the drying of clothes as well, so having the choice of settings gains for me extra importance.

The only negative is in the weight it could be a tad lighter for travel. The plug that features a resettable protection against current leakage contributes to that weight. In spite of the dryer's overall weight, it is a keeper.

I was so happy to see this item on Amazon. I have non-relaxed, natural, thick hair that comes to the small of my back. So for me, any Maxius Styling tool is an absolute life saver. (I had to resort to the Miniglide, when my last Styling Tool just stopped working mid hair. Imagine having half luscious bone straight hair, and then having the other half a lengthy afro...Not a good look. The Miniglide does not get my ends as straight as the tools with the steamburst technology.) I missed out on the limited supply of the Maxiglide Express, sold on the maxiusbeauty.com website earlier this year. Hopefully they will become available again. Honestly, this is my 4th Maxius Steam iron. I have had several versions of thIs tool, over the years...in several different sizes. My previous irons just stopped working or had wiring issues. This one gets the job done. This model looks similar to the last model, but to me, it is much larger. I would prefer the slightly smaller version. I doesn't seem to give off as much steam as my previous irons, so I have to go over ends several times. Also, I have used the vibration button, but just turned it off, because I can't seem to find a real use for it. The automatic shut off button is great. Overall, I am very happy with the iron, hopefully all the kinks have been worked out from the previous version, and this one stands the test of time. Compared to the previous versions, this item is quite pricey, but I am willing to pay the price, as it is a much needed item. Per the instruction sheet, this item has a 1 year warranty. States, Maxius will repair or replace, just cut off and save the holographic Izon logo on the box. So I was about to register my item on the Maxius website, for warranty purposes, and there is no holographic area...just a regular picture. All my other styling tools had the 3D if you will...picture. Box says, Simply tip the Izon label up, down , left and right to reveal the hidden dots on each side. If you can see the dots on each side of the 4 sides, it is authentic. Not sure why, but my box has no dots or holographic Izon logo...Guess I will have to contact Maxius customer service directly regarding my warranty.

I have owned several Maxiglides in the past. It was the only straightener I used for about 10 years. The original product was heavy, but did the job beautifully. This new version is cheap and definitely not worth the money. The teeth don't fit properly, and sonic glide sounds good but is useless.

I've owned my Maxiglide since 2004! This product is so great. It can leave your hair very straight or if you want some body or big curls (as I do), it can do that too without using a curling iron. Another good thing about it is, it's almost impossible to burn your head or hands since it has a protector of some kind and you can literally bring the iron to your roots or even pull on it with your hands from the base. Every time I straighten my hair, I always get positive compliments and when I do it with the body/curls, they can't believe it was done from a straightener, they just can't believe that I didn't use a curling iron!

It's not your typical straightener, so it may be a bit bigger than most straighteners on the market today, but it really is worth the money. Again, I've had mine for almost 10 years and it still works like new!

Pros: No burns, straightens flat or gives nice body/big curls, steam button to lock in moisture (if you chose to use it, I do, it really makes a difference)

Cons: cleaning. Because of the design, it can be a little hard to clean if you don't have the proper cleaning agent. I use a professional cleaner from the beauty supply store and it does the job just fine.

Highly recommended. You will not regret it.

I own several flat irons, and this is my current go-to for straight styling right now. The vibrating plates improve overall hair styling time and the pins help with separating out kinks and curls.

However, the plates are misaligned, so you have to clamp down just right before closing the plates and flat ironing. The plates are also difficult to clean. For the bottom, I take it out and run a cotton swab through and around the pins. For the top, I wipe it down and then use a pick to carefully clean out the holes. The top plate is NOT removable. This flat iron does not heat up quickly, and the temperature gauge is 1-10 only. I set mine on 10 and have thin, coarse hair. Sometimes I have to do 2 passes if I don't align the pins, but only 1 pass if they are aligned.

As for hair getting pulled out, I lose more with other flat irons. Your head loses thousands of hairs a day. The only reason you'll notice it on this flat iron is because it gets stuck in the pins and isn't falling on the floor or your back, completely out of sight. The curling plates being on the outside of this iron are supposed to be functional, but it's really useless since the pins snag your hair at the edge of the plates when you go to curl. Doing a bump under at the ends is doable. A full curl is not without a fight.

The steam feature is great. If you use the right kind of water, it adds a nice shine and soft texture to your hair.

Overall, if you want straight hair, this can do the trick. If you want versatility in your iron, look elsewhere. This product is not as versatile as it looks at first glance.

I was all set to purchase a very expensive ceramic flat iron (over a hundred dollars) but I thought I'd give this one a try.

I have very wavy curly frizzy hair and I have to spend at least an hour blow drying my hair straight with a boar brush and then putting it up in velcro rollers to make to all smooth and stright~ alot of time and products. And by the end of the day, my hair would still kink or curl up. This flat iron has eliminated all of this. This has been my favorite beauty purchase ever made!!! I am truly stunned by the results.I don't even have to blow dry my hair stright all the way before I use this flat iron and I instantly get super straight hair. Think of the typical straight asain hair. My hair even looks like a couple inches longer!

It instantly heats up ~ I use it from the get go and I love the design. Very easy to grip and use. It goes on smoothly, no snags. I only have to go thru my hair once to get the results. And it's stylish, too. I plan to buy one more of this for back up.

This straightener seems really good when you first use it, but about 5, maybe 10 minutes later, my hair was back the same way it was before. Also, there is no on/off switch and no settings! It leaves my hair really, really dry and frizzy. I realize many products like this dry your hair, but not this much from just one timeesp. if it doesn't even last more than 10 minutes. I don't even have really curly hair or anything. It is really thick, but only slightly wavy hair. This product really stinksbut so does Conair. I strongly, strongly, suggest the Revlon RV059C Perfect Heat Professional Hair Straightener. It works like a charmfor me and the people I know too!

There is one nice thing about this product though, it is compact= that's true. But all of its horrible effects and diseffinciences DO NOT account for or equal that one plus! If you get this, you are basically paying moneyh to overdry and overfrizz your hair horrificilly---DON'T GET IT!!!

I have thick curly hair. This product did nothing for my hair. It looked like I had just blow dried it upside down. I spent 40 min trying to straighten it and with no results. Also the outside seemed to get hotter than the plates themselves. Be prepared to burn yourself since the product fits in your hand. NEVER BUY A HAND HELD STRAIGHTENER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a very cute and compact straightener, but it takes a very long time to heat up. It doesnt get very hot at all, even if you wait a while. If you have ever used a good straightener before, you will not like this one. There was no point in even straightening my hair, because as soon as i went outside it frizzed out and got wavy. My hair is not thick, but can get frizzy, and this straightener did not work for me. I do not reccomend waisting your money on this straightener. Sometimes spending a little bit more is worth it.

I recently purchased this straightener and have been very pleased by the results. It is very effective and easy to use. It feels so natural to use: someone should have thought of the palm concept earlier. It's a much easier motion than a wand-styled straightener, especially on the back parts of your hair. If you can put your hair in a ponytail or sweep it behind your ears, you can have perfectly straight and smooth hair not just around your face, but all over. It's also a great travel size.

I have straight hair, but it tends to get frizzy and crinkled if I sleep on it. This straightener leaves it silky and and manageable.

I bought this as a replacement to the Conair, 3/4" width wand style straightener (the CS4CS). I was extremely unhappy with the Conair. This is even 60 cents less, and has a faster heat up, is easier to use, gives better results, and has superior quality overall.

I'll end on a cautionary note: there is no on/off switch (the switch in the picture is actually the lock/unlock latch), so you have to remember to unplug it.
