I am probably biased about all Remington products. I have the 1 inch Wet 2 Straight recommended by a friend, and I instantly fell in love. I was looking for a travel sized straightener to bring with me and was very impressed by this purchase.

It heated up instantly, and wasn't so hot it damaged my hair. From the Wet 2 Straight temperature settings, this Mini Straightener is around a 15-20 , not that high, but perfect on the go . It is perfect for bangs and short hair in that you can get VERY close to your roots without scorching yourself. It's a perfect compact size and has ample holding space as to not burn your hand.

My hair feels very smooth after straightening , my mom even thought I had put on some straightening oil, maybe it's the pearls :D

I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering buying an on the go straightener.

Notes: There is only one temperature setting and there is no "close lock" on this device

ive tried other 1/2 inch irons and they usually last a few months at MOST. ive had this one for the past year and a half and wow does it last. the "remington" logo is fading away by now due to the oils in my hair and hands but the iron is still strong! recommend this 100Xs!

oh also i bought this at target for like 14bucks. it went on sale quick and its a little depressing to see it more pricey on here.

If you're looking to get your short hair straight, this will do the job, however:

This straightener only has one heat setting: ~392 degrees! That's nearly twice the boiling point of water! While this will certainly straighten your hair, it will also severely damage it very quickly (in as little as one use) in the hands of someone who does not know what they're doing. The ideal use for this product is for people with hair that is no more than 3 inches long, and perhaps up to six inches, but any longer and you should definitely go with a wider straightener that has lower heat settings. In the other reviews some talk about how their hair looks glossy because of the "pearlized coating" of the straightener. In my opinion this is not the case. The extreme heat is what is making the hair straight and sealing the cuticle of the hair, making is look more glossy. This is the initial result, and can be the continued result, but only if the hair is not overly straightened and is also cut often (at least once a month but more ideally a tiny trim in the middle).

Those things said I like this straightener and use it daily. My hair stays straighter, longer with this than it does a wider model and it's easier to use as I have hair that's only about 2 inches long. I haven't noticed the handle getting too hot as some of the other reviews have said, though it does get a bit warm which only makes sense.

So again you can get great results but only if you know what you're doing and take care of your hair. Look up tips online for how to straighten with high heat.

I have fine, wavy hair and was looking for a VERY lightweight straightener because I am physically disabled and have strict lifting restrictions. This straightener is absolutely perfect for me. It is extremely small and lightweight. The cord weight seems to be in proportion to the straightener itself (i.e., not too heavy or bulky). The unit heats up very quickly, although the temperature itself is not adjustable. The carrying case is wonderfully compact and handy. My only two qualms with this straightener are 1.) After it has been on for several minutes, the handle becomes uncomfortably hot and 2.) The on/off switch is between the handles, which means your fingers get close to the hot plates when turning it off. Therefore, I would recommend this straightener for travel or for individuals with semi-fine to fine hair. As for the pearlized shine on my locks, I have not noticed any difference.

I never blow dry my hair because I hate the way my hair feels after. It just made my hair a big, uncontrolled mess while damaging it at the same time. I straighten my hair infrequently because it takes me too long (an hour) and the result is straight hair, but not very silky feeling. I got this blow dryer after my sister suggested it to me. I decided to give it a try and invest a bit into a blow dryer. It's worth every penny!!! It takes 10 to 15 minutes to completely dry my hair (I have very thick, medium to long wavy hair). My hair feels silky and soft and looks better than when I straighten it, only taking a quarter of the time! I couldn't stop touching my hair after the first time I used the blow dryer. The concentrator attachment is included (some of the other listings of this same product apparently didn't include it) and is quite useful when using a round brush.

You can continue doing your research for a great blow dryer, but there is seriously no need to look further! This is the best blow dryer I've ever used and would buy it again in a heart beat.

I bought this hair dryer after my hair stylist had recently purchased one, so I was able to try it before buying it. It has everything I love in how a hair dryer should function: (1) a concentrated air stream that really moves your hair around and dries it quickly, (2) ample temperature and speed selections, and (3) a motor that isn't high pitched or hurts your ears.

(1) The airflow is very strong--I don't even have to use the concentrator nozzle on the dryer in order to get the right amount of airflow directed at my hair.

(2) There are 3 temperature settings (hot, warm, cool) and 2 speeds (high, low). There is also a cold button you can press and hold at anytime to stop all heat and set your style.

(3) Last but not least, the sound of the motor is very low pitched and does not make my ears ring afterwards. So many hair dryers have such high pitched motors that they can really damage your ears. This dryer is excellent in not producing such ear piercing sounds.

I recommend this hair dryer wholeheartedly. In fact, a friend and a family member who used mine ended up buying one for themselves!!

Previously I was using the Babyliss 2400 and loved it. Sadly it recently deceased after 7 wonderful years of use. I knew that I would replace it with another Babyliss and decided to give this one a try since the wattage was about the same and the price was right. I thought my previous dry was the best but this one is 10x better. It is powerful and lightweight. Easy to hold so it causes no strain in the wrist or hand. Has a 9 foot cord which is a bonus.

I am Latina and have thick, thick hair. The Tourmaline technology dries your hair quicker and leaves it frizz and static free. No one likes the ends of your hair sticking straight up. When using the right brush and hair dryer you can get a finish looked without using other hair appliances. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered this hairdryer originally for my mom who was desperate for a new hairdryer. She said she loved it but that the snap on nosepiece did not stay on very well (she ended up taping it on). I ordered it for myself a few weeks ago and have definitely noticed an improvement over my older hairdryer. I cannot confidently claim that it will change your hair for the better, but it certainly did cut down on drying time and isn't extremely loud. I like that there are three temperature settings available however, the switches are right where your fingers and thumb land when you're holding the device, so I often press the switches on accident. Minor flaw, but something to consider.

Was very surprised to get such a great hair dryer for such a low price. I originally went searching for the one with the Ferrari motor that's about $200. I went from an 1875 watt Conair to this (which is a 2000 watt-since I don't think that info is in the description). The difference is night & day. This dries my hair in half the time as my other. I have a huge problem with frizz & split ends-after using this dryer my hair was smooth, full, sleek & frizz-free after blow drying it.....and it is no louder than my last hair dryer-just more powerful. I never write reviews but felt this hair dryer was worth the time since I am so pleased with it!

I purchased this hair dryer holder and the matching curling iron holder. I liked them before I moved, but I love them now that I have moved and the space in my bathroom for my "necessities" is smaller than I am used to. These two items are a life saver to me since they take up little room, are heavy enough never to tip over, and hold my hair dryer and curling iron out of my way and off the limited dresser space. Let me start off by saying you need more than two of these dryer balls to derive the benefit .. I currently use six. (This, if anything, is what we can take the manufacturer to task about, and what seems to be affecting the overall low ratings for this product.)

Some people mention tennis balls as an alternative. While tennis balls would probably give you the same fluffing effect as this product, lifting the clothes to allow the dryer's heat to do its work more quickly, the nubby surface of the dryer balls gives the added benefit of lightly abrading the surface of the clothing as they bounce around. This does indeed make the clothes softer. It's the same principle as stone-washing, which of course gives a softer hand to any fabric. While the first two dryer balls I bought didn't seem to do much, I noticed a difference in the softness of my laundry the first time I dried a load with six of them. I'd been wondering why, after just their first washing, my expensive designer clothes never felt quite the same as the day I bought them. These dryer balls provided me with a big part of my answer.

If the manufacturer had packed them in sets of six instead of two, I think the overall rating here would have been a bit higher.

Those who say that the balls are noisy most likely have an extremely small load. This allows the balls to constantly hit the dryer's metal drum or glass window. For most people, this would not be a problem since the balls would weave in and out of your clothes, cushioning it from the metal. I currently use 6-8 balls and they rarely hit the metal, perhaps once every 10 minutes or less. Putting the balls in with only two shirts, for example, would of course result in noise. But a normal load should prevent this.

Too small or too large a load would also explain why some see no advantages with these balls. With a large enough load, they should indeed hasten drying for two reasons: 1) They separate the clothes from each other, increasing airflow in between each item. 2) They lessen the likelihood knotting or bunching. This is an annoying problem if you dry sheets, blankets or large towels. These items roll into knots and bunches, taking other items in, preventing airflow. The balls intrude upon the knotting process; the more balls the better. You can prove this to yourself by watching the dryer with and without the balls. Make sure you have some sheets or large towels inside for the demo. And to be fair, use the same items both times.

It's all about airflow. If you have a very small load, there is already airflow so these won't help. If your load is too large, no amount of balls will be enough to separate the packed dryer. So don't overload!

The combing effect from the spikes may also speed up drying a bit by lifting the fabric's fibers, but I can't observe this directly. I have consistently seen effects #1 and #2, however. The combing also causes the softening effect because it makes the fabric fuzzy. As an aside, I worry that this combing may damage the fabric although I personally have not experienced any softening or damage.

Static has never been a problem for me so I can't comment on it. The likely principle behind static reduction is the prevention of fabrics from rubbing against each other. Remember the old grade school experiment of rubbing a balloon on hair to create static cling? Or rubbing your feet on the carpet to make static electricity and shock? Its the same with clothes; rubbing creates free electrons, which causes static electricity and cling. The balls separate the clothes to reduce rubbing.

Finally, I echo the writer who recommends at least 6 balls. I routinely use 6-8 with each load. And don't expect miracles.

In short, the science behind the balls makes sense. But they're useful only if you have a large enough load (but not too large). If you're only drying 2 shirts, there really isn't much to separate so there's no advantage. Instead, there will be a lot of noise.

I've done several loads of laundry with these balls and am neither really impressed nor entirely disappointed. I've found that they do seem to cut my dryer time from around 45 minutes to around 30 for an average load, which is nice. I still have to use a softener sheet to help with the static since the balls did absolutely nothing to help with it when used alone. However, the fabrics feel even softer than they did when I was using the softener sheets alone, which is great! They seem to be a worthwhile purchase, even though they don't do all the manufacturer says they will. The savings in electricity easily justifies the expense of the dryer balls for me.

Pros: These work pretty well. They are free of extra chemicals (hooray for the environment), and they'll pay for themselves after many uses.

Cons: After a year's use in a 3-person family, some of my clothes are starting to retain static, but it has only happened occasionally. They also tend to be a bit noisy, as to be expected. Might discolor slightly after awhile, but doesn't affect functionality.

Final thought: Decent product, decent price, would buy again.

I have very fine straight hair and I've used air brushes for years. This is by far the best one I've used. It has also been reliable. Some cheaper models have gotten too hot and shut off. There's nothing like going to work with half your hair curled and the rest straight. I find the 1" size barrel is the best for me and the soft bristles are strong enough to go through hair. I have tried other models that have very flexible bristles like an old-style hair brush or a very hard plastic bristle; neither of these styles work well. My hair gets tangled very easily around them and then I go through a pain getting untangled or my straight hair just won't wrap around it. These bristles are made of something different. Strong, but soft and at the same time with just enough grip to get my hair to curve around it. Then the heat can take over to put the curl in. It doesn't burn like some of the others either. I've had my air brush for 3 months now and I use it every day.

I bought this model through a beauty supplys store, but finding it here at almost half the price is great. Now I can get a second one that I can keep in my gym bag.

I have LONG, STRAIGHT hair that is hard to hold curl. After using my mother's hot air brush that has a rubber-type barrel and dates back to the early 1990's, I searched EVERYWHERE for one like it because it is perfect for my hair type--long, straight and fine. The closest I came to finding one like my mother's was this one (Helen of Troy 1" Model #1574R). The metal barrels do NOT give my hair ANY body or even any curl. Nothing! But this plastic-type barrel gives me softness OR curl, depending on how long I hold it in place. The rubber-type or plastic-type barrel has proven the absolute best for my type of hair. I bought the 1" at an Ulta store this week and am now on Amazon to buy a 1.5" because my hair is so long on the bottom that I want the smaller one to use on the top and sides of my hair and the larger one to use on the bottom. I highly recommend this product because the barrel is so much more conducive to providing body and/or curl to my very straight, fine, hair!!!

So far I like this flat iron. It does it's job well. It heats up quickly and stays hot. I have a lot of naturally wavy/curly hair and keep it set at just under heat level 15. However, I'm disappointed at the lack of auto shut off feature. Especially since twice I have left it on for over 24 hours. I had previously owned an Andis flat iron from Walmart that I was just as satisfied with. My previous iron was 1/2 the price at $15 and it did have auto shut-off as well as a locking feature. Unfortunately that iron wasn't avail. For the purpose of straightening/flatting my hair...it does work well!

I bought this product a year from now discounted, which was less than $35. I think it's pretty basic for my needs. I have dry straight hair. I usually only use the lowest setting, which is still pretty hot. I haven't tried the highest settings as my hair is pretty easy to straighten.

Seems a little slow to heat up, 2-3 minutes or so. But, heats up pretty well. I've used it maybe once a week with no problems. One thing I would advise is to follow the instructions. Like, this is not a wet to dry straightener.

Also, it's no Sedu or CHI. But, I straighten my hair once in awhile, so no big deal. If you want to lengthen the life of your hair while straightening, be sure to use some thermal protection!

But I noticed some language in the Owner's Manual that I wanted to warn everyone about. On the last page at the end of the "Service" section (which is separate from the "Guarantee" section), the following language appears:

I generally don't write reviews, but I was blown away by this hair dryer (no pun intended). It's truly an engineering feat that this hair dryer possesses the characteristics of being both powerful and quiet while simultaneously having an EXTREMELY low weight. (This last characteristic became important to me when, at one point, while using my SuperSolano, my neck suddenly went out while drying my hair one morning not fun!)

Upon my initial use of the CHI Rocket, it seemed that it had very little power, but before I knew it, my hair was dry AND smooth (my hair type is wavy and very long), and I wasn't working very hard to get it that way; I would surmise that it cut my drying time by 30% 40%. Also (and possibly more importantly), upon waking the following morning, my hair still looked great and I usually have to wash my hair every single morning, without fail. Given that this time of the year is the most humid, the results of my "morning test" become even more impressive.

For the Amazon price, this dryer seems that it would be a good investment, given it is a tool that I usually must use on a daily basis (saves time,time is money, and all that jazz). I generally am extremely skeptical about a beauty product's or tool's scientific claims (ion technology, biochemical therapeutic claims, etc.) given that my background is in the sciences, so I know that half of the claims are false or can be achieved by a $3 product/tool competitor, but someone knew what they were doing when they designed this puppy, so I'm more apt to believe that it's better for hair health as well; what is definitely true is that cutting drying time will save some hair damage.

Great product. Fingers crossed that it lasts!

I purchased this dryer solely because it was touted as being low EMF. It maxes out the TriField meter (which measures EMF) at the plug as well as at the appliance itself. It dries hair very nicely so does the dryer I bought at Walmart, which by the way has a lower EMF reading on the meter.

I bought =the TriField Meter to test the EMF in our home and found it where I didn't expect it!! Clock Radio, cordless satellite phone, hair dryer, dimmer switch for light over kitchen table all off the charts.

BEWARE if you are purchasing this primarily for LOW EMF it doesn't deliver.

This is the best blowdryer I have ever purchased. Usually I research items online before I go buy an item like this, but I was in desperate need I went to the closest salon to see what dryers they were selling and they had this one only. She said all her customers love it, I can see why. It is easy to operate, so much quieter than my old dryer, and dries my hair quickly w/o it getting too dry and overblown. I am now going to check out the other Chi products, too.
