Conair 1875 Watt Turbo Styler with Ionic Conditioning Review

This is my only experience with an ionic hair dryer, so I have nothing with which to compare this one. However, I bought it because I had several expections about its features. Here is how each feature measured up:

Quicker? NO. It may even take a little longer than a standard 1875-watt dryer. The reason is that the fan does not blow very hard. The "high" setting blows about like the "low" setting on a standard dryer.

Reduced frizz/flyaways/static? YES. These are significantly reduced.

Increased shine? YES. My hair is visibly shinier.

Quieter? YES, but qualified. The only reason it is quieter is because it doesn't blow air as hard as a regular dryer.

Freshens hair? YES.

Another drawback: This dryer is very heavy. It took me several days to get used to how heavy it is.

This dryer delivers almost all of what ionic hairdryers promise, but I was mostly hoping for a dryer to speed drying time. If you have thin hair or hair that dries quickly or have plenty of time to dry your hair, then I would highly recommend this dryer. My hair looks shinier and healthier.

As a child of the Sixties, I still wear my hair long and I blow it dry every morning. When my old Hartman Protech 1600 hair dryer hit the bathroom floor, things weren't the same. Eventually, in a spectacular pyrotechnic display, it breathed its last.

Since I had paid 20 bucks for it way back when, I was ready to spend that much on a replacement. Much to my surprise, in the 10 or so years I'd owned that dryer, a lot had changed, and now the same money buys a lot more hair dryer, so with some dough to spare, I bought one of these.

Many complain that it doesn't pack the same wallop as other dryers but that's a case of perception versus reality. The Conair's barrel has a larger diameter than most dryers and its fan is quieter, so while the perceptible breeze isn't as blustery, it's still moving plenty of air. I know because I use an egg timer to count off 3 minutes while I dry my hair and the Conair never leaves my hair damp (a barber told me that after 3 minutes of blow drying, you're just toasting your hair and not helping it). If you MUST have that scalp-scorching pinpoint blast, Conair includes a concentrator.

Ions are all the rage in hair dryer technology right now. Purportedly, a stream of ions directed at your hair will neutralize static electricity and smooth out frizzy hair. Ions are also claimed to flatten out scaly hair shafts, resulting in more shine. I'm waiting for our good friends at Consumer Reports to weigh in on the benefits (or lack thereof) of "dual ion ports", but after a week of daily use with the ion switch ON, I've noticed that my hair doesn't fight me as much when I brush it into place. Even when the static-charged Santa Ana winds are howling through sunny SoCal, my hair doesn't stick out like porcupine quills. And, yes, if I turn my head from side to side, there's a noticeable shimmer that either wasn't there before or I had never noticed it.

A minor flaw is that the power and ion switches respond to a very light push, but after a couple uses you learn to position your hand accordingly after switching on the dryer. The dryer offers low and high air-speed/heat settings and has a "cool shot" button that cuts off the heater while cranking the fan up to its fastest speed. "Cool shot" is another feature that is said to set a style in place by cooling down the hair quickly.

So, whether ions really do or don't make a difference, the overall performance of the Conair Ion Shine is worth the price.

Just got mine recently and wanted to share my experience on the product. First of all, there is two version of Conair's Ion Shine 1875 blower, 146ZR and 146ZDFR. The difference is where the attachment "pipe" is located. On the 146ZR, the "pipe" is located below the blow hole. On the 146ZDFR, the "pipes" are located to the right and left of the hole.

Ok. In terms of the complaints about the buttons being at a bad place, I didn't find that a problem at all. Now, my hands are pretty big (gloves size Large/X-Large). Unless you completely grip around the handle, I don't see how you can accidentally touch the buttons. I usually grip my dryer like a handeshake/golf club. So my thumb is usually in parallel with the handle. As such, none of my fingers goes anywhere near the buttons.

Another complain is about the weight. Now, this blower is not a "compact" blower, so I didn't find it to be that heavy (I would say it is slight heavier that the hotel dryers, but those are just plain awful). I've tested a few blow dryers at Bed Bath and Beyond (including the 18765 Vidal Sassons and Revlons) and found this to be about the same weight as the others.

In terms of air throughput, some people may be misled to think this doesn't blow hard. In actuality, this thing does push quite a bit of air through. Compared to my old Conair and Vidal Sasson (triangle looking one), this bad boy pushes quite a bit of air. The difference is the old blowers are blowing a narrower, but faster stream of air; Whereas this Conair pushes a slightly wider channel of air and not as "fast". So if you blow this at your hand, you'll feel the same "push" as any other blower, except it is not as concentrated. During my hair drying process, I do notice my hair dries a lot faster.

Another reason people might think this dryer blows less air is because it is pretty darn quiet. I've compared this to the Vidal Sassoon 1875 and thought the VS was quieter, but moved less air.

I have not noticed a great difference in hair shininess, but there was a noticeable difference in static. Oh, and my unit DOES come with a Concentrator and a Diffuser (mine is marked as 146ZDFR).

Overall, I am VERY happy with this blower.

Other models I tried at the BB&B store includes:

Vidal Sassoon VS781

Conair 094WBR

Conair 156/157

Revlon 1875....not sure the model number

Honest reviews on Conair 1875 Watt Turbo Styler with Ionic Conditioning

When I read reviews about this dryer stating that it takes longer to dry hair, I was a bit apprehensive about buying it as I have thick hair. However, given that it was not too expensive for a dryer promising features like shinier hair and lesser frizz, I decided to give it a shot anyway.

I have now owned the dryer for about a month and I love it! It is pretty quiet and when I dry my hair in sections, it takes just as long as (or slightly lesser than) a regular dryer. I also have noticed that there is lesser frizz and shinier hair (both more noticeable a day *after* I did the actual drying).

The one star I have docked off is for the position of the ionizer switch. Initially, I turned it off accidentally once or twice while drying my hair. But now I am used to it and it really isn't a problem any more.

I would certainly recommend this dryer.

I have very thick, curly hair and recently got a new, short style that I wanted to blow straight. I had an older dryer that just didn't cut it so I did some research and purchased this one. I absolutely love it. It blows my hair straight very fast and all the frizz is gone too.

I've never spent more than $30 on a hair dryer (from a CVS or Walgreens)... but at the urging of my stylist I bought this brand. She had noticed a lot of broken and heat damaged hairs along my part-line and said that having a good quality hair dryer would help protect my hair from being damaged. TRUST YOUR STYLIST :) She was right, and I love my purchase. It was more money than I was used to spending, but totally worth it.

I have very thick hair & require a drier that blows hard. Off, low & high heat/fan controls are easy to set. Red rubber pieces on sides mean that it does not slam on the sink when set down, & does not slide off counter. I also like the extra long cord. Average noise level with high blower setting, but quiet on low with plenty of 'wind.' Amazing value twas refurbished.

My wife has had this thing for 4 years, and it break once a year almost on the nose. I am tired of sending it in for repair and consider this planned obsolescence from Solano. I will never buy another prooduct from them again, quality has gone downhill since Newell took over. There is ZERO excuse that a person (not a hair dresser drying several heads a day) should have issues with this expensive dryer every year.

Went with a Sedu 6000i and it has lasted with no issues over the same period of time. There are better options in the high end hair dryer market look elsewhere because this product doesnt' last.

PSnotice another review here (Fifey) in this chain of reviews, is on their second one! Anyone who spends $120 on a hair dryer and uses it lightly shouldn't have to buy another one, and most CERTAINLY shouldn't have to repair it annually.

Honest reviews on Solano Top Power 3200 Black 1875 Watts

My wife loves the dryer. She typically gets up in the AM before I do. This hair dryer has a lower register for the motor rather than the normal high pitched whine. She says it's efficient and she can run the fan speed on low. (Good for the guy trying to sleep so it's a win-win)!

I purhcased thru total vac. Shipping was speedy and product was new in box as promised. Very satisfied.

I have bought Solano products for years and I do think spending more for professional products pays off. My hair is extremely thick so I was hopeful that the claims of ionic dryers drying hair faster were true. I'm not sure they are--or if they are, it isn't very noticeable--but this is still a very good hair dryer. It's very light, which is nice.

Well worth the investment. I have this model currently but previously I have owned the 3000 model, The 3200 is much better as it is more powerful and lighter in weight. I have medium length hair and it is quite thick, I love this hairdryer as it dries my hair superfast. You won't be dissapointed.

Quiet, easy to handle, the side handle adjust so you can switch from one hand to another. heat and Speed (can't think of a better word) controls adjust the tempurature for the finest most fragile hair to the thickest coarsest hair in secounds. GREAT dryer. it drys the hair faster and i can still talk to my client. I thought it would be lighter, but elchims tend to run heavy, it's ok though, I'll have great arms!

What a difference between this product and my $35 discount store hair dryer. I have thick hair and it cuts the drying time down by at least 1/3. The only thing I don't like is the side handle. It just does not need to be there, but for the befifits I will work around it.

I never realized how much of a difference having a quality dryer would make. My hair is incredible! I have long, medium-thick curly hair. It used to take over an hour to straighten with less than stellar results. This dryer is AWESOME and cut at least 20 minutes off of my total drying time. In addition, I didn't use any products (i.e. gels, creams etc.) to help straighten my hair and reduce frizz. The dryer made my hair frizz-free, smooth and shiny! It's truly incredible. I didn't even need my straightening iron afterwards but used it anyway to add some curls. It's worth it, make the investment. You won't be sorry!

PROS: Excellent heat, easy to operate, straightens and dries without leaving static or frizz, cuts drying time practically in half

CONS: None

I thought at first this was great blow dryer especially someone with very thick hair and lots of it. So, in 5 months 2 of the buttons do not work! So, all this $ spent and I don't have the ability to use the highest heat setting and the cool setting button doesn't work now either, both if these were critical for me and I'm sure most of us that have thick hair and use heat and cool settings to style our hair. Ow I have to see if there's anyway to get warranty coverage, what a pain in the #*%! Who has the time to deal with this?!

The product is good and mounted on the wall easily. I would have preferred that one of the holders be a bit larger to accommodate the blow dryer with a large barrel more easily. The vendor was prompt and I would do business again.

I installed in our bathroom to allow my wife to store her curling iron and hair dryer off the counter.

It installed easily with some anchors, and it has stayed solidly attached to the wall over the weeks of its use.

The metal allows the appliances to be put away while still a little hot, which is nice.

Hard to review a simple product like this other than to report that it works exactly as advertised, and that I highly recommend it.

This curling iron holder certainly does it's job of keeping hot styling wands and flat irons off of counter out of reach of little hands.... or my clumsy hands for that matter. Large enough for even the biggest curling irons; I keep my blow dryer in the larger slot. Can't believe I went all these years without one. Very convenient and the added outlets this one offers makes it a great choice. Have had this for 2 years now and am very happy with the purchase.

Honest reviews on Flat Irons & Blow Dryer Holder # Af100-e

It is well made and very useful. I installed it on the side of vanity cabinet, and it stores my dryer, iron, and multiple combs(middle holder). It hides all the cords nicely from view. I am very satisfied with this product.

This was difficult to mount on the wall. We had to add a piece of board to put behind it. It is sturdy and holds my hair appliances without it feeling like cheap plastic. Another drawback is where do you put the cords??? I only give it 3 stars because I'm keeping it and I'll try to figure a way to rig something to neatly hang the cords from my hair appliances. The directions sheet were not all to clear as well.

Muffles the loud noise of the hair dryer. Not greatly decreases the decibels, but disguises the higher tone, just the most annoying sound. Tested in 5 different hair dryers, just do not fit in one of them. If the air inlet of the dryer is round, certainly fit. Fits perfect in Parlux.

It meets all the claims when it works; after about 10 months, its starting to die. It will quit heating for a while, then start heating, then quit...an so on. After trying it with an extension cord from a different, more modern, electrical plug, the problem seems not as bad. I wonder if they circutry was cheaply made and can't handle ANY minor normal power fluctuations. I don't expect the unit will work though the end of the month. Buyer beware.

See below: these guys get real crabby when their distributor middle men arn't getting the cut they think they diserve.

I saw these hair dryers in the store a while ago, and thought it was nuts to spend close to a hundred dollars on a hair dryer. There was nothing wrong with my $30 model; my hair dried just fine. This hairdryer, though, works so much better!

A few weeks ago, I went to a spa and while I was drying my hair, I noticed -it was so conspicuous -how quiet the dryer was. I finished drying my hair in what seemed like less time, and left the spa feeling like the treatment left my hair softer and smoother than before. I thought it was just the spa environment. The next day I bothered to notice the brand of the hairdryer, and was recognized the "chi" brand.

I came home and bought the hairdryer, knowing I could return it to the store if my experience didn't duplicate the experience I had at the spa.

I still have the hairdryer. The dryer is much more quiet, it dries my hair faster, AND it does leave it smoother (it wasn't the spa products or their water!). I wish I had bought this years ago.... it is so very much worth it.

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. This model is great. Maybe the $200 model is better, but this one is good enough. If I were to lose the dryer tomorrow, I would go out and repurchase it again quickly. It really is that good.

The heating element broke on 3 different units after less than 9 months of continuous use. This product is a lemon.

Honest reviews on Farouk LOW EMF GF 1541 Professional 1300 Watt Hair Dryer

This hair dryer has completely changed my ability to manage my mornings! I have 2 young children and a 45 minute commute so, as you can imagine, I don't get much time for myself in the morning. Well, now I don't NEED time for me. I used to spend at least 3-5 minutes drying my layered, shoulder-length hair and then from 5 and 10 minutes getting it styled properly. The CHI 1300 hair dryer dries my hair in about 45 seconds, and it no longer requires separate styling the dryer works with my hair's natural texture and leaves it shiny, soft and needing only some pomade to look finished and gorgeous. The volume and body last all day no more bad hair days. It sounds silly to say an appliance can really improve your life, but this one has. Well worth the expense!

I've owned this hairdryer for about a year and a half. It is well worth the higher price tag. It is the ONLY hairdryer I have ever used that has decreased my fly aways and made my hair feel smoother and healthier. I did have a piece on the inside of the hairdryer come loose about 6 months ago after a small tumble from the bathroom counter, but the manufacturer honored it's warranty and replaced it. I've had no problems since then.
