I have had the hair dryer for approximately 4 months and it sparked and broke today! The handle would get hot each time I used it...not sure if it was due to the Ion light, but it would get hot. Today, the machine sparked and the plastic melted. Waste of money.

Additional comments: When it worked, the machine wasn't too loud; the flow of air was decent; the hot setting could have been hotter.

As an update, I wanted to let the readers know that I sent an email to Andis letting them know that the product I bought lasted just over three months. A few days after writing the email, I received a response which said they will be sending me a new dryer. I'm relieved to know that I do not need to spend additional money returning the broken product and that they are replacing the item without cost. I'm hoping that the new dryer lasts for years and that I only experienced an isolated quality issue.

FURTHER UPDATE 8/23/12....I'VE BEEN USING THE REPLACEMENT HAIR DRYER FOR A YEAR AND IT'S WORKING LIKE A CHARM!

I have owned this dryer for about 6 months, and it is the best one I've ever had. It makes my hair so soft, silky, and bouncy--just like when I get my hair done at the Dominican salons with a blow out. I have very thick, course, Afro-American hair, and I've always hated blow drying my hair. It always turned out very dry and brittle--until I used this dryer (or went to the salon). I found it at Target for under $25, and it's definitely one of the best hair products I've ever used.

I have even tried a few other ionic-tourmaline ceramic dryers, but this one did my hair so much nicer.

i used this for the first time today and it definitely dried my hair faster than my old one. i have never owned a ceramic ionic hair dryer before and there does seem to be a difference. it didn't get as hot as my old one...the old one used to feel like it was burning my scalp or neck or hands, this one dries the hair faster without getting as hot! it's lightweight and did a solid job. the true test will be when i dry my daughters very long, very coarse hair!

This is a very good hair dryer. I was skeptical of it's ability because it isn't as strong as other ones that I have used. This works extremely well. It actually dries your hair in probably half the time as my last hair dryer. It has a great price also.

This is a good, forceful hair dryer and I benefit from having the different temperature controls (cool, medium and hot). I have fine hair but lots of it so this helps me get my hair dry quicker without frying it. It feels well made. My only complaint (besides the high price) is the nozzle. I feel like the company goofed and made this model dryer but didn't invest in making a tailor-made nozzle for it and used one from one of their other models. It simply doesn't fit so it flies off at least every third time I use the dryer. I imagine I'll soon have to hold the nozzle on with electrical tape in order for it to stay on. Because of that feature, I wouldn't buy this dryer again but if you happen to get a unit whose nozzle does fit, I think you'll be happy with this hair dryer. It does take some getting used to the force of it all though.

I've spent maybe 1000 dollars on hair straighteners... I have long (fanny length) and thick (it doesnt even fit in one fist) hair. I've used this straightener and it works fabulously. I ordered this item and I have three things to report:

1.It is not a bad product but no different from any flat iron you can buy in a store for less than half the price, just an average flat iron.

2. They promised it would come with a pouch and it did not.

3. The worst of all: I ordered from Europe and the distributor (folica) gave a fake price for the flat iron to customs ((...)). Customs in Austria went online and saw the real price (...) and now they are charging me over 60 dollars customs. It is not serious that FOLICA lies about the price and puts customers in trouble.Plus: they never answer the phone or reply emails. I am extremely dissapointed and this purchase has been a nightmare. I DO NOT recommend it!

I bought this Sedu flat iron because i moved to Europe and my Chi orignal is not compatible with converters. Ive been using it for 2 months and ive noticed a drastic difference in the health of my hair. The Chi straightens well but it leaves your hair crispy and less managable. The sedu on the other hand left my hair feeling like silk and didnt leave any damage. This was important to me because i have very long hair, but the Sedu still straightened my hair faster and better than the Chi with less damage so i highly recomend this.

Sedu straighteners are AMAZING. I work in a salon and they sell some high-end ceramic hair straighters for over $ each. However, the Sedu straighters are WAY more easier on your hair. They glide over the hair like silk, and I don't find that the expensive other-brand ceramic straighters feel silky when I glide them over my hair. I don't know about ordering Sedu products overseas like the other customer did (), but the Sedu corporate office is here in the US in New Jersey. The ceramic or whatever its called, when it heats and up and you glide it down your hair, it is super smooth and there is no tugging on your hair. LOVE IT. I wish they would make curling irons but I don't think they do.

It seems just like spraying water on your hair! No smell nor sticky texture (except its color and well... I did not taste of course)

I was kind of skeptical if it would do anything to my hair when I tried first, but luckily I was wrong. This is a magic liquid! If you prefer no scent product I would definitely buy it.

I have been using BC Bonacure Time Restore Satin Spray and was pretty happy with it. However, the texture of this one is much more smoother...as I said, just like water.

I have curly hair that gets super frizzy and I wanted a product that would help but this just didn't do the job. I bought this on a whim because I just NEEDED something to help. I used it when I would get out of the shower and the only thing it seemed to help with is making the hair brush-able instead of taming Medusa.

This product seems to work better when using a really good conditioner but I still don't think it's worth the price.

I have a very old Conair Prostyle 1600 my favorite hand held dryer, and after over 10 years, it's been on its way out. I've tryed various dryers, but none of them have the great feel of my old Conair. I just recently ordered the Conair Yellowbird 1875...thought it would be great looked just like my old one, only yellow. I tried it once and sent it back. It was too heavy..unlike the Conair 1600, which was oh so light...and surprisingly didn't have the blow power I expected. So I read one review on the Andis Pro Style 1600 and it sounded good. I tried it this morning and it's perfect very light...and so small, I couldn't believe it. I travel on business and have not found a travel dryer I'm happy with, so I'm going to order another of these for a travel dryer.

If your home is like ours and you have trouble with tripping the circuit breaker because of your hair dryer, this is the one for you. Our electrican said not to go any higher than 1600 watts. Finding a dryer in this wattage is hard enough, but most of the brands you do find, are... well, they are whimpy! Not this one. Good air power easy adjustment between hot and cool air and you can't beat the price.

You know that it isn't going to be like the full size counterparts, seeing as it is travel sized AND so much cheaper, so my expectations for it were right in sync. The flat iron takes a bit longer to heat up, and a little of getting used to if your used to a full size CHI, but it works wonderfully! Sometimes I do the rotate thing to make it curl, and I think it looks better on this one than the full sized one. The hair dryer packs a mean punch for something so small, and it dries my hair in the same amount of time as a full size, but its not as hot so I actually like it better. The sizes are great for travel or gym locker-room use, and I highly recommend them. And they also come with the travel pack and CHI products! Definitely a steal. I can fit my shampoo, conditioner and styling products and comb in the pockets for the gym (but I put my shampoo and conditioner in travel bottles to save room), so it's the perfect travel accessory. I purchased this one THROUGH amazon, not a store on amazon, and I ordered it on a Friday and received it Monday MORNING even though they said 2-3 business days. I bought this set for a trip to Europe and was SO excited to find the CHI travel kit at such a good price. I tried it out in the comfort of my 110v home before I left. The straightener did not get very hot, but I figured it was because it was compact. The hair dryer seemed to be okay with the output you would expect for a travel dryer. I was more concerned with having a reasonable hair dryer while traveling in Europe. I really liked the dual voltage offered by the hair dryer. I was relieved to have it--until I got there. I used an adapter and set the dryer to the appropriate voltage, and when I turned it on....NOTHING...it didn't work at all. I tried using it on the lower voltage and with the voltage down converter I had. It barely worked; it couldn't blow out a candle on a birthday cake. I was astonished that the cheap Revlon curling iron I brought worked perfectly with the down converter, but neither of the two CHI travel doo dads functioned at all. Sadly, the best (and most valuable) part of this entire kit was all the small products that came with it: the travel size shampoo, conditioner, silk infusion, and spray made my hair manageable. I feel like I totally wasted money on this set. It took up valuable space in my suitcase. So very, very disappointed.

I have dark brown hair and I was scared to try sun in because it said it may turn dark hair red but it didn't! I wanted light brown hair so bad and that is what I got! It is very gradual though so you can choose how light you want to go. I used it about 5 times and got the color I wanted. These are a great price too so I baught 4 but one bottle goes a long way.

I am naturally dirty blonde with long hair. I use to get highlights every couple of months and it got so ridiculously expensive, I stopped 6 years ago and haven't had my hair professional highlighted since. My sisters and I put lemon juice in our hair during the summer and I am very happy that I found a product that provides the same highlights, if not better, year around. Winter time is always tough because my hair gets darker and I'm tempted to go to the salon, but with this product, I will never be tempted again!

I think the trick to this product is to start slow, very slow. I purchased a bottle of the tropical and started with spraying a little on my fingers and adding it to a few strands around my face because I was afraid that it would damage my hair or turn it a funky color. I would do this every other time before I would blow dry my hair, and I really liked the results. No damage and no strange, unnatural color I also should mention I use this when my hair is towel dried before blow drying. I then got a little braver and started to directily spray it on small sections on the top of my hair, framing my face and then running my fingers through that section to distrubute it. I didn't saturate with the philosophy that less is more. The top half of my hair is now really, really blonde and I am asked all the time if I get my hair high lighted. When I reply with Sun In, people usually do not believe me.

I really did not use very much each time, and one bottle lasted my a year and a half. I was shocked it lasted me that long. It is a very good investment for the price. Now my next step is the under layer of my hair. It has gotten significantly darker now that it is January and there is a definate difference in color from the top layer of my hair. I've started to spray about 3-5 times around my bottom layer, towards the roots, and I am fairly confident that I will get the desired results.

Through my experience, the key to this product is patience, patience, patience less is more! I have always heard negative things about Sun In my whole life, but all of those myths are busted. I ordered one in lemon and one in tropical and that should last me a few years. I'm very glad I took that chance and started to use this product and I really hope they never stop selling it!

This product works well, but according to my hairdresser it isn't so great for your hair. Unlike natural lighteners like lemon and vinegar, Sun-In has chemical ingredients that remain in your hair until it grows out. It will continue to lighted each time you go out into the sun. So just make sure you use it sparingly, and don't rush the results. A light spray before you head into the sun will lighten your hair, but if you drench your hair it might wind up much lighter than you initially intended.

I used this product on virgin hair roots, I tried avoiding the rest of my previously straightened hair. The result on the hair roots are as expected natural but less volume in hair. The spots where the two straighteners met were burned so be careful.

I had this treatment done twice and I really liked the results. I'm African American and have naturally curly kinky hair. I decided to go natural after having a terrible relaxer experience that made half my hair fall out from over processing. I wanted something to tame my frizz and loosen my curl pattern enough so I could straighten my hair with a flat iron easier. It got my hair very smooth and manageable. HOWEVER, this is not a temporary straightener as it claims or as the stylist I went to said either. It's been 6 months since I got the last treatment and my hair appears permanently altered. The portion of my hair with the bio ionic treatment has zero curl pattern and hasn't changed since I got it done. I am super disappointed that my hair will no longer revert back after spending two years growing it back out. I realized that I'm going to have to start the transitioning process ALL OVER again. Buyer beware.

FHI Professional Platform Flatiron 1". This is the absolute BEST. I have exceptionally frizzy hair and always have. Since the advent of flatirons, I have bought a gazillion and they just didn't "get it". But, I heard from my stylist about this one and took her advice and now again I understand ALWAYS ASK THE PRO and this is the professional unit. It goes past 400 degrees which is one of the differences, and it straightens or flips or curls. It is fantastic even on a muggy, moisture-ridden Tennessee day. Try it you will love it as well. If it can make my hair straight it can do anything.

I recently purchased this flat iron and I can honestly say it was one of the best purchases I have made in a long, long time. I have very, very thick wavy hair. I cannot go to a new salon without being told that I "have the thickest hair they've ever seen on a white girl". I was between this and a CHI, but after using a CHI I decided that I honestly didn't like what it did to my hair. The CHI was effective, but left my hair feeling dry and took away some of the sheen. So I went with the FHI Platform. Prior to using this I used a$35 flat iron from Target. It worked, but it took approximately twenty five minutes to completely straighten my dry hair, plus another 10 minutes in touch ups the next morning since my hair refused to stay straight. I have used the FHI several times and despite the current humidity and rain within the past week, my hair stayed straight, flat, shiny and without frizz. I didn't have to touch it up the next morning at all. On top of this, my straightening time is almost cut in half. I can run the iron through a segment of my hair once and it is straight. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!

As an African American female who recently decided to grow out my hair relaxer, these flat irons are perfect (they would be even if my hair was relaxed). I started noticing a major difference in how my hair felt when I left the salon vs. when I did it myself. I used the same shampoo, conditioner, etc. Once I paid closer attention I realized that my stylist (and ALL the other stylists in the salon) used these flat irons I mean, they had them in all different sizes and everything!

These flat irons get very hot and make your hair very straight without burning or scorching your hair!!! My hair feels smooth and healthy after each curl. I'll warn you that they get very hot. Mostly I consider Amazon.com to be THE top seller on the Internet due to their excellent customer service policy and their flexible ordering system. However, I consider it a MAJOR flaw on Amazon's part that they are not presently disclosing in the listing for this item that Amazon is not an authorized reseller and that the manufacturer will therefore not honor any warranty on this item. By not disclosing that Amazon is not authorized and that there is no warranty: 1) Amazon is legally responsibility for fulfilling the terms of the warranty. 2) Much worse, not disclosing that there is no warranty on THIS item puts the warranty on every other item sold by Amazon in doubt. I certainly hope that Amazon gets on the ball and addresses this issue quickly.

My wife loves this! We had an FHI in the past, which regrettably stopped functioning. It also had variable heat, which so many of the irons in this price range do not have. My wife says this one glides over her hair even more smoothly than the previous model. She finds the 1" size to be the most flexible. Note that some other FHI models do not have variable heat, but the Platform series does. It gets very hot, and maintains that heat. She uses it on our eight year old daughter's unprocessed hair to wonderful effect as well.
