I searched the internet to find a mirror that had all of the features I had seen on a mirror in an upscale hotel where I stayed on a recent business trip. It had to be lighted, magnified on one side (5X-1X), with a support bar that would extend over the counter to a place where I could get close enough to use it (I am vertically challenged). I found several with prices as high as $189.00 and finally decided that this Jerdon model was exactly what I was looking for and the Chrome finish matched the fixtures in our bathroom. The low price on Amazon made me wonder about the quality, but I was worried for no reason. The mirror arrived quickly, was easy to install (according to my husband), works perfectly and we got it for the best price on the internet! Thanks Amazon!

If you are looking for a lit mirror, I would select a different model.

I was pleased with the overall design.

I was expecting a hardwired electrical connection but was pleased to see it was a plug-in model with a curly cord to keep it out of the way. While the light did work, it was was much too dim for me.

I had to turn off the other lights in the bathroom for it to even make a difference.

Bottom line for me: It was not nearly powerful enough to justify the expense over a non-lit mirror. Sorry to say I ended up returning it.

I got this light 3-4 years ago. My wife and I use it every day. The light comes in handy if you don't want to turn on the vanity or overhead lights but we usually use it without the light in the mornings.

The only problems I've had were a switch that lossened up after 14-16 months of use (easy to tighten) and the elbow became loose after 3 years of use (easy to tighten with small hex wrench).

I would highly recommend the lighted mirror.

My bathroom has a window where I'd like a mirror, apparently I'm taller than the builder, so I bought this mirror to swing out into place so that I see my face.

Installation took about 15 minutes with a drill and screwdriver, feels solid, looks fine. As the other reviews point out, a mirror with a light all around it is not going to give one a bright look at oneself, but it works for my purposes, brushing hair and shaving.

[edit May 2009] I finally got tired of the dim light, and replaced this mirror with the one also from Jerdon without the light. Much better. The mirror has more surface area, the fixture is lighter without the electronics, and there is no cord hanging down.

Having used these mirrors in a few hotels where they were installed over the years, I wanted one at home too. It is very easy to install. Either plug in or direct wire. It brings the view of your face very close and is two sided so you have a choice of 2 magnifications. It came with screws and everything I needed to install it. One bit of good advice is to install the height at the chin of the shortest person who will use it. Of course you can just hold it up and test your planned location. The light is of some help but just suppliments the other bath light that I use. I installed one last year and am just now buying another so that I can have the use of it too.
