The Conair Travel Dryer is pretty quiet, has two settings, and works very well. The only negative is that it is a little bigger than I thought it would be but with the folding handle it should still be better for traveling than the dryer I use at home.

I have been using this model of hair dryer for over 20 years. When my previous one quit on me I bought another one. I have a sleep number bed in my house and it says not to use any products with "ionic" whatever. Most hair dryers out there are now "ionic" so I kept to this dryer. Good ole reliable. I first tried this hair dryer when visiting my sister. It's just what I wanted. Didn't want to be holding up a heavy dryer but wanted the power and variety of settings that this one has. It's lightweight but has 3 heat settings and 2 power settings. I use it every day. Very happy with it. The first one I bought had a burning smell right away when I turned it on. I returned it to the vendor and have used its replacement for about a year with no problem.

I recently purchased a Spornette Pico Brush, (2.5in diameter) from Amazon. I've been using this brush for 15 years and needed a new one. It works great on medium length hair. Your hair won't get caught in the brush like some do and I've tried many other brands. You don't need a curling iron or flat iron anymore if you use this brush with your blow dryer. The dryer works and it is easy to assemble. There is two speed and two (not 4) heat settings and then there this Ion knob can bet either on or off. They must be adding this Ion knob to euphemistically call it 4 heat settings. The unis is OK and it works. WE have had it only for monh. Most great dryers have a interlocking switch with the from the front visor, so that when you lift the visor the unit turns off. This one does not do that. It is a nice feature to have. This unit is an inexpensive unit and is good value for the money. It could have been a great unit with few minor enhancements.

This might seem a little silly, but it is hard for me to find brushes that I really like. I'm not going to pay more than $10 for a hairbrush, so fancy ones are out for me. I had another Revlon brush for 10+ years, and one day it just broke! I was using the head of the brush without the handle for a while, and decided to get another brush. I purchased another brand and it just didn't do it for me. This one is just like my old one. Unfortunately the balls at the end of the bristles are falling off and getting in my hair and now it hurts to use the brush. Don't buy it.

I never knew such a brush existed. This brush works well in satisfying my expectations (which may be lower than the average person buying it). I purchased this product to replace my Conair Ion Shine (1875 Watt). Unlike my old Conair dryer, I find ths product dries my thick hair a lot quicker and the attachments do not fall off. I love that the cord is longer. I think it is more quiet, but you will definately hear when it is on. It is a little heavier than the Conair but I did not find this problematic. The controlls are easy to use. Upon the intial use, I did notice a strong mechanical odor that has since disippated with ongoing use. I am please with this product and would recommend it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been cursed with Zimba's hair, my hair can be described as a Lion's mane. What do I mean by that? Thin, frizzy hair, not exactly curly, though not straight either and with a tendency to occupy three times its volume. It has the advantage of being super malleable, I can do whatever I want with it and the disadvantage of getting ruined by just whispering at it. That means, I have a love-hate relationship with hair straighteners since I was twelve. I love how my hair looks when I use them, shiny, tidy, easy to handle, but on the other hand, use it twice and my hair starts to show all the signs of destruction.

This straightener has a few key features that help with that:

The Keratin Therapy Bath: Helps the hair look shiny and keeps it protected, though I think it gives the straightner an odd and a little nasty smell when heated.

The fact that one can control the temperature: Super easy to determine which temperature to use to straighten your hair, great for people like me that have hair that is thin and easy to straighten but also easy to damage. Granted, using it in the lowest setting can make the straightening process a little longer and a little less effective, but it is worth it for every day use if you don't want to ruin your hair.

I must say I used it a couple of times and so far, it doesn't look like it is damaging my hair too much, which is great.

Another great feature, that it automatically shuts off after a while, just in case you forget and it also has a locking mechanism that makes burning yourself less likely.

Overall I think it is a good product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program A few things I liked about the Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener is that I had more control over creating waves or "curl under" than with my other straightener, also a Remington. My other one is a Remington S9520 Ceramic Straightener with Pearl Infused Wide Plates.

Things I didn't like:

* It was hard to run thru my hair... it doesn't glide through like my other one. I basically had to tug it through, ensuring that I became painfully aware of my hair's damaged condition. FYI, my hair isn't like crazy-lady damaged like a wild & crunchy mane, just dry from coloring & straightening. I often get compliments on it often because it looks so "silky".

* Because it has a sensor that senses damage, I had trouble straightening the ends of my hair that are the most damaged. This is because the straightener is built to lower the heat to stop further damage. While the idea is good, if I didn't persist with the ends of my hair, I'd end up with lampshade shaped hair. Ironed flat on the top, triangular fly-away ends on the bottom.

* I found the same amount of hair breakage in my sink when I used this model. Not sure what that says about their heat sensor technology, except for that it may not work as well as advertised? Not sure.

* The heat sensor prevented me from fully straightening my hair, therefore it didn't look silky or healthy.

In the end, I prefer my wide plated straightener and went back to it right away. Honestly, who wants to think about how damaged their hair is while styling? It was as though I was being punished. Frankly, I damage my hair, then cut, and repeat. Who cares, it's not like it's affecting my health or infringing on other's happiness.

BOTTOM LINE: If you have ANY previous damage, this model makes it harder to style your hair.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This flatiron is very pretty silver color and it has a smooth taper on the end that makes it easier to use and hold while using. I have another Remington that I use almost daily but this one's ergonomic design makes it a little easier to hold for me. This straightener heats up super fast and is ready to use in seconds.

There is a digital readout on the side that shows how hot the straightener gets which is supposed to help you not burn your hair, I think this can only help if you know at what temp. your hair begins to burn. This Remington gets super hot so it would be helpful to know at what point your hair gets fried so you don't turn it up all the way and have your hair start to break off. You can play with the heat with 5 different settings to figure out how high you need the heat to straighten your hair.

There is a thin strip in the center of the ceramic plates and this is the heat sensor for the temperature read out, my daughter said it pulled on her hair a bit and she could hear a pulling noise, but I haven't experienced that. I think her hair is more damaged from using heating products and this may be a problem for her damaged ends. I would consider using the straightener setting in the lower 300s if you have some damage and don't venture into the 400 zone on this unit at all (it goes up to 450) if your ends are bad. This is a high heat tool. If you are serious about your straighteners this could be one you will really like. It has keratin infused plates that are supposed to last a full four years and it comes with a four year warranty, so it's a serious straightener and worth the price and I think it's competitive with the higher priced tools. If you are a casual user and just want a straightener to use once in while, Remington has straighteners without all the bells and whistles that this one has, and they all seem to work very well. We have three or four Remingtons and we pretty much like them all-especially the flatirons with 1 inch plates like this one. There are three of use in the family that use these products on a regular basis.

All in all, this is a really nice looking straightener (I use them for curls and waves though and have long thrown out my curling iron)-it has auto shut off, temp read out and you can set it to any temp. you want. It heats up super, super fast, and gets really hot, professional temperatures, so be careful on the higher heats and always use a protector on your hair. I use a Wen cream that heat protects my ends but they can still get burned even with normal straighteners. If you are looking for a pretty, new, super hot unit, this one is great and the four year warranty is a plus. If you already have a lot of damage, this isn't going to cure your hair but if you want to keep your hair healthy and don't already have damage, this unit can certainly help you maintain the health of your hair.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I must admit. I was skeptical that this little straightener would work with my hair. I have extremely thick hair, waist length and super wavy. It takes me an hour with my current straightener which is super wide.

The Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener not only straightened my hair. It did it in 10 minutes. I section the pieces off and before you know it. Straight hair.

When I tell people about this particular straightener, the first thing I mention is that it is "smart". Straightening hair is very damaging on the hair. The Remington has a senor in the top plate that detects the amount of damage to the hair and delivers only the amount of heat necessary making it the most safe straightener I have ever used. My hair has always been on the dry side so I tend to not over do any kind of heating to it. Knowing that my hair is actually getting less damage, makes me want to straight more often.

As for the Keratin, this was the most interesting feature to me. While I know that Keratin is a natural protein in our hair. I was unsure what difference it would make as far as being in a straightener. My hair felt much silkier than ever.

Another plus that I keep mentioning to everyone when I discuss the Remington Keratin Therapy Straightener is that usually when I am flattening my hair, I cannot touch the hair. It is way too hot. I thought it would be the same but it wasn't. I am assuming this was due to the sensor placing less heat but if that was the case I would think it would have taken more run throughs for the straightening that I got.

Pluses:

Less heat on the hair shaft due to the sensor

Keratin conditioning is amazing for your hair

Heats up in less time than my last 3 straighteners (ready to go in 30 seconds)

Automatic shut off in 60 minutes. Love that. As someone who always worries about this even though I don't have to (OCD, I guess) it is good to know.

Price! I paid over $130 for my current (prior to this one) and it doesn't do half the job.

Cheap Black Pearl Ceramic & Tourmaline Dual Voltage 1" Flat Iron

I should have done my homework before buying this flat iron. I mainly picked it because it is dual voltage and I wanted a flat iron to take on international travel. Turns out I was able to buy a much better dual voltage flat iron at my local drugstore for about 1/3 the price.

The Black Pearl is heavy, which is not great for travel. The quality appears cheap and the plates don't meet all the way along, producing inconsistent results. It has an awkward on/off switch on the cord with indicator light, so it's difficult to tell if it's on or off -kind of important in an appliance that can burn you badly! It has NO HEAT CONTROL at all and my hair was literally SMOKING -obviously this iron gets super hot, but you can't turn it down at all.

The much cheaper Conair flat iron I bought at the drugstore is better on all of those points: it is lighter even though it has ceramic plates, it's better constructed, it has an on/off indicator light, and it has 25 heat settings.

Also, it turns out most major brands of flat irons are dual voltage, though you have to read the packaging carefully to figure that out.

About the only good thing I can say about this flat iron is that the swivel cord is kind of nice. The cheaper one I bought doesn't have the swivel -but I don't find it hard to use.

I own the original SuperStar Professional 1-inch Flat Iron Hair Straightener, which I just love! However, I live overseas and unfortunately had removed the voltage safety of the product so I didn't want to plug it in and have a melt down! I bought this Black Pearl because it specifically said 220 volt, well that's about the only thing it has going for it. It works marginally, it's build quality is low, made of cheap plastic with low quality plates that aren't set properly and there is no heat setting. Finally, it looks converted to 220 that's how cheap it looks. So you are still wondering, well how does it function? My hair has but a few loose curls, that end up looking like loose, long waves. Tsk, tsk, it did little to nothing for my hair, which needs only a little heat and effort to go straight or curl the ends. For the price you should expect a better quality item with at least a high/low heat setting that actually affects your hair.

My mom has this hair dryer and I would use it when I came over to visit. Each time my hair would end up amazingly shiny and de-frizzed. At first I though it was her high end conditioner and hair products and I bought all of those but didn't get the same results. Then I thought, "it must be the water quality where she lives." I was in total denial that it was the hair dryer because I had tried so many different ones that were anywhere from $40 80. I was about to dish out 150 for a Chi or T3 after failed attempts with cheaper ceramic and tourmaline dryers. I have never been able to just blow dry my hair without looking like a wild woman and having to iron it down. It also takes FOREVER to dry. I couldn't believe that this simple $30 hair dryer could so easily defeat my mid-back length, naturally fizzy, wavy, open cuticle hair. It does though! Needless to say, my mom got me one for Christmas and I am a happy girl. It's not the fanciest hair dryer. It only comes with a high and low setting and a cool shot, but it delivers on the promise of smoother, shinier hair for an amazing bargain price in my opinion! I am honestly blown away by the results of this dryer! Do yourself a favor and buy this one, or just get a high end one. Don't waste your time and money on all of the other hair dryers like I did.

So, I am a consumer that likes to read reviews before I buy things, especially off the internet. I came across the many positve reviews on this product and since I was looking specifically for a heated hair brush to replace my **Air** heated curling brush/hair dryer I decided that I'd get this model. I've tried both hot air brushes and curling irons, and this beats them both. I have very fine straight hair and this brush is perfect for me. I had a problem with hot air brushes because the force of the air (even on low) would tend to blow my hair away from the brush. And a curling iron would always leave a crimp, no matter how quickly a slid it down my hair.

This hot brush gives my hair curls/waves just where I want them and is fast and easy to use. I just brush it through a section of hair until I reach the ends and then twist my wrist to curl my hair around the brush. It only takes a few seconds to give me the nice wave I want. Because there is nothing except the brush to hold the hair in place (which is good for me because it eliminates the crimp), I have to be careful not to burn my fingers as I tuck under the ends of my hair. I'm actually thinking about getting a heat resistant glove to protect myself.

Another thing I like (which is kind of silly and more useful than I would have expected) is that the plug is a regular plug, not one of those surge protector boxy things. This allows me to plug it into the top plug to heat up while my blow dryer is plugged into the bottom plug. With my old curling iron, I would have to use two separate outlets.

In short, I'm really happy with my purchase. This hot brush is reasonably priced and works great.

for best results do not use the hot brush with wet hair, my hair using this brush is shine & looks free of static or frizz!!

This my personal opinion if you want nice, soft and shine hair do not use hair dryer...i have Black Hair soft and shine but when use Hair dryer looks terrible like lion hair!! Always i use hot brushes take little long time but is better.

After a lot of searching, I finally found the product I had been wanting. The brush holds in the many layers of my shoulder-length hair, and with the larger diameter, it results in soft curls and curves. It heats up quickly, plus it has a plastic cap on the end so I don't burn my fingers. I highly recommend this hot brush for those with longer hair that don't want tight curls.
