I just got this dryer as a replacement for an older Hot Tools Professional Ionic dryer. I relax my hair and use the comb attachment on every dry. This dryer is very light in your hands compared to the old model which is nice. Although it's 1875 watts, it doesn't feel like it gets very hot. My hair too came out pretty frizzy and took a lot longer to dry. I kept wondering if I had it set on low. My hair definitely feels soft, even if it is frizzy. I didn't think it was too loud, but then again, my old dryer is obnoxious so anything sounds better. I do like the 8ft cord and the long prongs on the comb attachment. I'll give this thing one more try but right now, it might be going back to the store.

Why oh why would they place the power switch right where your fingertips curl around the handle? Guess what happens on, off, on off, on off, on off. It's a terrible design.

If I still had the box I would return it and get a different model.

Functionality is fine though it dries my hair so we'll see how long it lasts with the constant restarting.

I have owned this dryer for over a year, and although it is still working I need to get a new one. The dryer is very loud (and that is my primary reason for getting rid of it). I have very thin hair and I use expensive Bumble and Bumble products on my hair and my hair always ends up being frizzy after I dry it with this dryer. It "gets the job done" but my hair is always a tangled mess after I dry it.

I am on my third Conair 228 Nano Silver. I know... if it's made so crappy that it dies once a year, why do I keep buying more?

Because it's awesome, that's why. I have wavy/curly hair that's fine (not thin), and the diffuser is the best I've ever used. And I've used other ceramic dryers, but none make my hair look as good as this one does.

The problem? The first two that I had died after a little more than a year of use. One day I'll be drying my hair and BAM! I'll hear a clinking noise from the inside and then smell that familiar burning smell. And it's toast. I clean the lint trap, treat it with care, don't leave it plugged in, never drop it, etc. These beasts keep dying on me, and I keep buying them.

I recommend it, but buyer beware: It will probably crap out on you after a year.

UPDATE July 2010: I bought my third dryer Jan. 10, 2010, and it died yesterday: July 17, 2010. Started smoking and smelling like fire, and the motor stopped working. This one didn't even last a year. It's really frustrated since the diffuser that comes with it works better than any diffuser I've ever had. I wish I could find a different dryer and stick the Nano's diffuser on there.

If I could change the stars on my original review I'd knock it down to 1 star because honestly, even if it's the best dryer on the planet if it only lasts 7 months to a year what good is it?

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2011: After going through six of these dryers with the last two lasting less than four months, I'm done. It's a shame because they works so wonderfully with my hair, but there's no way that a hair dryer that's used less than 10 minutes a day should only last a couple of months. I ended up buying a Remington with a similar diffuser and it works great.

I wanted to buy a good dryer under $35.00, and all reviews pointed that a Conair dryer is a great choice. Before purchasing this hair dryer, I also researched and compared the following dryers: Conair 213X Infiniti Professional Tourmaline Ceramic Technology Ionic Styler, Black and Infiniti by Conair 223F Cord Reel Dryer. I decided to buy this one because it had an addition of a new technology called "Nano Technology" which the other two didn't have. Here is all you need to know about this dryer:

(1) Fair price, considering its function

(2) Don't expect too much from the accessories that come along with the dryer

(3) Light weight and professional look

(4) It has cool/warm/hot heat + low/high speed + cool shot functions: (a) cool is not really cool, and hot is a bit too hot (b) high speed is really loud! (c) "cool shot" button helps when you are drying your hair and you get too hot

(5) Quiet, but not so much (if you're using "high" speed, it gets really loud!)

(6) The time to dry your hair doesn't get short (I used a $11.00 hair dryer before this one, and the time I spend to dry my hair is the same)

(7) My hair looks the same, not shinier or smoother as advertised

All in all, I am satisfied with this one, but I think Conair 213X might have been a better choice.

i just ran some electrical tape the full circumference on the inside of the comb attachment and voila! stays on now. everything else about this dryer i adore. especially how my thick wavy frizzt hairs actually looks like i spent a ton of time taming it, when in fact i did not. and it's quiet-bonus for my husband that sleeps later than i do.

This is a great hairdryer for the price. The tourmaline allows your hair to dry faster, but doesn't do damage with the heat. I find my hair much silkier and smoother using it. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight, quiet and fast hairdryer.

I have used this type of Hot Tool before and it lasted a very long time, so when it was time to buy another one I didn't think twice. It was fine the first couple of days the it started to smell like it was burning. It would shut off and not turn back on for 10 minutes. Now it only turns on low and when turned on high it blows cold air. Very dissatisfied. I'm pretty sure it's not the company I just think I got a defected one.

There is nothing like these hair dryers in the USA. My mom was looking around for a new hair dryer but kept on finding products that never satisfied. She mentioned to me that she wanted to get one of those old hair dryers we had when I was a kid--one of these Panasonic hair dryers from Taiwan. I got this and it is just like the ones we had back then. They are easy to use with the blower/brush combo and prevents your hair from blowing in the wrong direction. There are two modes that are "blow" and "set". It is also extremely gentle for our fine hair.

A plus with this particular model is that you don't need a power converter--just switch between 100/120 and 200/240 depending on where your location is in the world. The manual that comes with this product is mostly in Japanese--but! there is a portion in English, so be sure to read that part so that you can use this tool properly.

One downside... the price. I wish it was more affordable because this is really a great product.

I bought a Tescom hair dryer almost 10 years ago from a Japanese chain that is locally owned where I live, very similar to this one except without the extra styling attachment. That had been the best hair dryer I had owned, and the American market doesn't have any (nothing of the same quality at least) as the one I'd had. So after a good nearly 10 years, the Tescom retired itself and I needed a replacement. I did a search for the same brand and several Panasonics came up. Panasonic in Japan makes great quality products so after a little searching and looking through reviews I ordered this model mainly because of the adjustable styling brush AND it was dual voltage (I'd hate to have to get a voltage converter for something that is everyday use). This hair dryer is way better than the one I'd had for so long and I love it! Great for styling my bangs and giving my layers a little bit of body and slight curl at the ends. I would highly recommend this product to ladies who hate having to try and style their hair with a traditional blow dryer and a round brush.

I first saw this Bio Ionic Power Light Dryer at my hair salon. The dryer was offered for sale at the salon for almost double what I paid for it through Amazon. I was so glad I did the research before buying it at the salon! It is a great dryer much faster than my old, heavier dryer. What I like most about it is how lightweight it is. My hand would get tired from holding the old heavier dryer but not this one. It cuts the drying time, is gentle because it offers so many different settings and it is easy to hold and handle. It also has an extra long cord so you can plug it in at an outlet and still be able to reach a good distance to a mirror. I highly recommend it.

My girlfriend has one of these and I borrowed it while visiting her. Then I went home to my old dryer and it just wasn't the same! So I purchased this one and am amazed how fast and non-damaging it dries my hair. Plus it's lighweight and easy to handle. I bought this to go along with a line of straightening products, but used the dryer by itelf first, without any hair products and was impressed with the quality and speed! My hair is very fine but still needs products to look smooth. I tried this without anything and it took about half the time it takes to dry with an ionic dryer I bought at CVS for $50. As for the quality of my hair, I can definitely tell it was much softer. With products for continuous conditioning, I believe someone with mostly straight hair wouldn't even need to use a straightener, and let's face facts, anything that alters the nature of your hair will eventually break it down. (Article in Allure magazine, Feb/2012, check it out, it says basically the same thing.) Bottom line: this is a good investment, especially when I've heard some stylists have had this brand for yearslet's assume they have more than one client a day ;)

I've only ever used drug store dryers (i.e. Revlon), so this was quite a change. The picture makes this dryer look light blue, but when I received it, it was white. I did a lot of research before I decided on this particular model. My hairdresser recommended either Rusk or Elchim, but after reading reviews, I decided on Rusk W8less due to the fact that it is lighter in weight. If you have nerve compression issues, or if you just have a hard time holding hair dryers for a long period of time, then this is a blow dryer that definitely feels lighter in weight than my old Revlon dryer felt. I had never known that the quality of my hair could also feel much sleeker and less frizzy just by investing a little more money in to a good blow dryer. After I would use my old Revlon, my hair would be poofy and frizzy, but this is not so with Rusk W8less. I was so surprised to feel my hair after my very first use. Also, as with any hair tool, it did take a few tries to get used to how to use this dryer compared to the much cheaper dryers at drug stores. It blows harder and the heat is just right even on 'hot.' The top button is a cold shot button, the middle button is the heat level (warm, cool, hot), and the bottom is for level of drying you want (low, off, high). Pretty simple. It came with only one concentrator (the ad said two when I bought it, but it is only one). The cord is longer than it is with cheaper dryers. Price-wise this was definitely cheaper than some other high end dryers, but more expensive than a drug store dryer. Overall, it is definitely worth the bit extra and I will definitely continue to buy Rusk products in the future.

My Babyliss hair blower was bought on the recommendation of my hairdresser. It lasted for many years. Trying to buy another (with my list of 'must-haves') proved to be difficult. Searching for one that's fairly quiet, lightweight, ceramic, tourmaline, budget-friendly, etc., proved to be a challenge.

After reading reviews, going to beauty supplies and big box stores, I decided that the Rusk W8less hair blower met my needs. At 2000 watts, this is a powerful tool. I have thin, baby fine hair and don't need to use it at its highest setting. If your hair is thick, this should be more than sufficient for your needs.

One of the features I looked for was the ability to clean the screen filter. Over time, hair products and dust can cause the filter to clog, overheat the motor, and prematurely destroy the unit. The Rusk filter can be removed and cleaned.

It has multiple settings, including a cool one. An important feature I looked for was a nozzle concentrator. This one allows a thin stream of air to focus on a small section of hair. That means that you won't be drying/frizzing the surrounding hair as you dry that one section. Should it matter to you, please note that, the nozzle is a dark color, while the dryer itself is more of a light ivory tone.

The Rusk is a bit lighter in weight than my old Babyliss. Its weight compares favorably to others on the market today. As a unit with a decent capacity motor and durable housing, the Rusk impressed me.

You can buy hair blowers anywhere from around $20 to more than $200. Decide what features you must have and determine your budget. If yours must be ceramic, tourmaline, lightweight, have high wattage, multiple settings, a removable filter, good reviews, and be a great value, then the Rusk W8less is the one to get.
