SteamFast SF-246 Portable Canister Steam Cleaner Reviews
I had such great expectations for this unit after reading the description. And it would be great if the unit I received lived up to the claims made for this product. But it was not to be.
First of allIt states that once the unit heats up "a steam-on-demand trigger with a continuous-steam locking switch.."therein lies the problem with at least what I received.
First-it's far from a "continuous-stream of steam that is producedit sputters,and then may have a burst of steam, then sputters again. I tested the temp of the steam during several bursts of steamit variesanywhere from 90 degrees to 140 degrees. Anything over 110 degrees-if remains constant while steamingis good for killing most germs. Being that this was inconsistenthard to believe the product description-
"Using pure and natural penetrating steam, the unit removes stubborn stains, dirt, and grime from sinks and tubs; sanitizes floors; reduces smoke and other odors from drapes and upholsteries; reduces allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more harsh cleaners or protective rubber gloves needed." HA! Not the unit I received.
The other problem noted quick fast-is that "on-demand" triggerit sticksmaking it very tricky to shut off, considering if your one hand is being used to wipe or scrub down the area you are cleaning, you have to drop that and fumble around with this trigger to get it finally to go off. Poor design.
Of the few areas that I attempted to clean-and none that really impressed meand this is just a guess is that the problem lies with an inconsistent temp for the steamas you really have to do a lot of scrubbing on your own to lift even the easiest of grime areas from the tub
.
This is not a unit that I would say would make me throw out my current, unfortunately, chemical cleaners, of which I would be so happy to do -some day.
Needless to saythis product is in the process of being returned.

Purchased the Steam Fast to use on my 22 year old tiled kitchen floor. The grout went from cream color to a dark brown after the 22 years. No matter what I used to wash the floor, the grout just wouldn't clean up. I purchased the steam fast and used the hose with the scrubber. It took some time (not hard though), and the grout now looks like it did 22 years ago! It looks like a brand new floor. I also have a stand up steamer which is great just to wash the floors, but it wouldn't be able to clean the grout like the steam fast. i purchased this once returning home after my long 8 month deployment. i purchased in hopes to go a good hard cleaning of the house being shutup for so long. it worked GREAT. so long as you dont put in to much watter it will steam HOT for a good 30 minutes at least. i say at least because after 30 mintes i would have to take a dreak from the heat it was putting off. very portable and light weight which is great for taking it up and down my wodden steps as i cleaned then and my wooden floors and everything else i would think of.also used it on my vehicle tires to get all that dirt and grees off of them then washed let dry and put on some tire protectant and if i didnt know better i would think i had mirrors instead of tires on my vehicle.

I am a professional and have had dozens of driers and I really like this one. A lot went into the design of this dryer. It's powerful and lite enough. The nozzle stays cool as I like to hold it by that sometimes. Nice long heavy duty cord. Balanced nice. Quite. You may notice that the air intake has been made smaller then previous models. I think since it was designed by a pro, that was done to accommodate those of us that use that to cool hair down instead of using the cool button. The older models were much bigger and didn't pull the cool air through as well.

I had a CHI that lasted about 7 years before it finally caught fire. I was all set to go back to another CHI dryer, but after doing some research on the best rated hair dryers for color treated hair, I decided to give the HAI a try. The HAI Elite Big Power is rated as one of the best for color treated hair, and I have to say, it is FANTASTIC! I have VERY long bleached blond hair, and with the power of the HAI, my hair is completely dry in under 6 minutes, and my hair is shiny and soft with minimal frizzing. The cord is crazy long, the dryer is not very heavy, and as quickly as it dries my hair, my arm doesn't get tired. Even on the medium setting, it blows stronger than the high setting on my old CHI. I love it!

I absolutely love this case. When you receive the case, in the large part it has a box with removable sections, well when the box is taken out, you can fit 2 full size mannequin heads and a comb bag in there. I read other reviews on his case and thought I should put my own down. I use this for my make up. It's great for make up artists. It also states that it is indeed a case for make up, so idk what others are using it for but obviously you're not going to use it for heavy items. I have had it for about two years and it has not failed me yet. Nothing has broken and I have tons of the dividers left over. I absolutely LOVE this case. I would definitely purchase another. I weighed this blow dryer on my postal scale today; with the concentrator attached and the cord hanging off it weighed in at .9lbs. The super light weight and curved ergonomic handle shape works extremely well for me, even with my arthritis!
After using a somewhat heavy, somewhat loud Super Solano professional dryer for about ten years this kind of sounded and felt like a toy at first; I like that it produces the right amount of heat to get the job done super fast without damaging my hair. With 1600 watts and wind velocity of 40mph this is definitely NOT a toy. Doesn't get TOO hot = no more burnt hair. Has a cool shot button, high/low and warm/hot settings. I don't know what the Tourmaline and Ions do exactly but my hair seems to be thanking me for it; for me this translates to less breakage and better styling hold.
Photos of this dryer make it tend to seem white in color but it's actually a light silvery finish.
IMPORTANT: the vendor at the time of this review is Folica; they have a blow dryer recycling program that offers $40 for your old blow dryer, even if it's broken! I got this dryer not only on sale but with the rebate for my old dryer, this purchase was made at less than half price. Folica also warranties this dryer directly for two years and their customer service has a great reputation so I'm pleased to highly recommend this product AND this vendor.

Happy to say that I finally found, so far, a perfect hair dryer. It's the Sedu Revolution Pro 3600i. This hair dryer is the lightest dryer I have found. Great for those with carpal tunnel! It gets hot enough and dries my hair quickly. My hair is soft and sleep after using it. The hair dryer is also not that loud like others. I highly recommend this one and have been very pleased with it. I got it on sale for $79 on folica.com and it came with a brush and some hair products. Cannot beat it for that price!

I have been on the search for a great hair dryer for a very, very long time. Price wasn't really an issue for me as I just wanted a great hair dryer. I have had the T3 one for a long time along with the FHI dryer. Both are good, the T3 being a little better. I tried CHI out and several Babyliss one....again, the ceramic Babyliss was good, but too heavy.Happy to say that I finally found, so far, a perfect hair dryer. It's the Sedu Revolution Pro 3600i. Ok, so I spent WEEKS looking at different hair dryers, trying to figure out which would be best for my FINE HAIR, since almost every review seemed to be written by those with thick, curly, wavy, or frizzy (or some combination of the three) hair. I FINALLY decided on THIS one, for two reasons: (1) it is the ONLY one I've found that lets you CHOOSE if you want the IONIC SETTING (all of the others just HAVE it, without the option to turn it off) this is VERY important if you have FINE hair, since ionic dryers DO make your hair smoother and shinier, BUT can KILL VOLUME if you have fine, mostly straight hair, so it's nice to have the option (fuller, more voluminous hair or smooth, shiny hair, depending on how you want to wear it); and (2) it has a lower wattage than many of the blow dryers (1600 vs more than 2000W), so it doesn't get as hot or potentially scorch your hair, important for fine hair in particular. So, AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF USE, I'M CHANGING MY REVIEW/RATING, AND THIS IS WHY: I definitely felt that, when I took the time, my hair had more volume and was softer when I used this dryer with the ionic setting turned OFF (honestly, still have not tried it WITH the ionic setting). BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, while I thought it was great that it didn't get too hot, it also took A LOT LONGER to style my hair! I have fine, slightly wavy but mostly straight hair, 5-6 inches past my shoulders, so when I normally dry my hair COMPLETELY (taking time and care with my round brushes), it would take me about 10 minutes total. With THIS dryer, I found it took 15 MINUTES to do the same job, and as a busy mom, that 5 minutes is honestly more than I'm willing to take in the mornings (for all of you non-moms, you probably think this isn't a big deal, but I think the moms get it!). Also, quite frequently, I just blow-dry the top quickly and throw my hair up in a ponytail or under a hat, and just doing THAT takes as long as it would to do almost my whole head with the OLD (more powerful) blow-dryer! PLUS, my old (and still functioning) dryer had a protective domed cover over the screen in the back (where the air gets sucked in) so that, no matter how close the dryer got to your head, your hair couldn't get sucked into the motor! Now, maybe I'm just not good at blow-drying, but if I use THIS dryer on the HIGH setting, my hair ABSOLUTELY gets sucked into the back but since I KNEW this was a possibility, I was very careful not to actually LET it happen (held dryer next to my head when I was styling, saw a couple of strands getting sucked toward it, and one even went in!)! So, I can only use the HIGH setting if I'm just blowing my hair around to dry it a little, but absolutely NOT while styling! THAT'S also a big part of why it takes longer to do my hair, because it HAS to be styled on the LOW setting! And I am NOT going to take a chance on BLOWING a $160 dryer! But, since most dryers DON'T have a protective cover over the screen (thus allowing hair to be sucked into the motor), I guess it's just me who has the problem! (But if you're looking for one with that domed cover, check out Jilbere brand, which is my old one not sure if they still make them like that, but worth a shot.) Not terrible but not even close to being worth the price. I thought for this price I was going to get exactly what they said faster drying and less frizz. Not any more than my much less expensive dryer. Plus this just does not get quite hot enough or blow hard enough to get my hair to do what I want. It is a bit quieter and lighter but since the results were not as good as my other dryer back it went to Amazon.

This flat iron is poorly designed. The temperature control button is located in the exact place you hold the iron and so it is way too easy to accidentally change the temperature setting. The controls should be on the inside of the handle or somewhere else to avoid hitting them every time the iron is picked up.

I bought this hair straightener for it's brand name having heard that Hot Tools was a good product to purchase. I am not doubting that this is true with other straighteners, but this one was not so great. The way it was designed had edges that pulled out my hair during straightening. And the plates started peeling and exposed the other metal that was beneath the coating. I absolutely love this flat iron! It does short out after a little over a year. But I have bought it 4 times..in the last 5 years because I love how it straightens my hair, better than any other I have tried. Never again will I go back to a regular dryer. Who would have thought for only $10 more you could get a dryer of this quality? This dryer is very powerful, it cut my drying time in half. It works great for styling with a round brush, and is hot, but not too hot. It is also very quiet, despite its power. I love the attachment, it stays put once you put it on (unlike my former Vidal Sassoon dryer). Another great feature is the buttons are slide style, not toggle, so you don't keep changing it on accident. I would definitely recommend this dryer.
Update 2 years later: I just bought another. My old one was still working, but the concentrator would not stay on because I dropped the dryer and the nozzle cracked and I think the wiring was going out (again due to being dropped many times). I looked around at other dryers but decided to get this same model because I truly loved it. Glad to see it was now available directly through Amazon.com with free shipping, last time I bought it through a merchant and paid $8.00 for shipping.

The DryGuy is near useless.
The Salon Power 1500 is obnoxious. It's loud, and doesn't dry well.
I love the Conair for shrinking window wrap and drying the dog, plus it did a great job on my hair! It's a very soft, warm breeze that is hard to beat.
The BaByliss is just amazing. With high fan and high heat I have to hold it back from the window wrap so it shrinks evenly, and keep it moving over the dog's coat or my hair so we don't burn, but man is it fast! Without the concentrator it gets right to the roots of thick hair, where as the Conair needs the concentrator, and doesn't dry as fast.
So what about the "ions?" Maybe they're there, but it seems blowing fast-moving air over any sort of solid material isn't going to create enough ions to do much of anything you or I could notice in daily life.
If you want quick but soft drying, get the Conair. If you want a really fast dryer, BaByliss is the one.

In the past, I bought hair dryers at Target because of the prices. I had no idea that a few more bucks can buy you a quality hair dryer that surpasses any Conair, Sassoon, etc. purchased at this and similar stores.The difference in the quality is noticed immediately upon use. Although the BB Pro is a little heavier than I'm used to, it dries hair faster and with fewer frizzes. It's amazing!

I originally purchased this in January, 2010 and I loved it!!! In November 2010 it started shutting off while drying, at first it would come back on by jiggling the switch, but it became worse over time and I decided to send it in since it had a 2 year warranty. I like it so much, I ordered a second one so I wouldn't be without one when I sent the original one in, it cost $9.00 to ship it in, but they sent me a new dryer. All was well until October of 2011 when the new one started doing the exact same thing. Still under warranty I sent it in(Costing another $9. for shipping) and again they sent me a new dryer. And guess what, the second one started cutting off. I finally contacted the manufacterer explained what had been happening thinking they would at least replace it with a different model number, since this one obviously has some problems. No response, NOTHING. I understand that blowdryers do not last forever, but when they have a 2 year warranty, they should last at least two years not 6-10 months and this is supposed to be professsional quality? I have short hair, that dries quickly, so overheating isn't the problem, they havent been dropped or missused. I still have one working dryer, but who knows how much longer it will last considering it's predecessors, so I am still in the market for a good RELIABLE hair dryer. I Could have purchased a REAL professional hairdryer with the money I have invested in these, not to mention the time and frustration. It looks like some people have had success with this dryer, but how long had they had them before they leave glowing reviews? My experience took place over two years and yes, originally I had left excellent reviews when I first received the first one. BIG mistake.

I have used one of these Conair Mitt Diffusers for many years. They are excellent for travel as they take up virtually no space. Works with almost any hair dryer. I rely on the hotel's provided dryer and have never had a problem. I have natural curly hair and need to use a diffuser. This does the trick when I'm traveling. The first one lasted for about 10 years and just replaced by buying 3, since they are cheap and I'm afraid they will not be available in 10 years when I need to replace the next one!

This diffuser might not look like much but it works great. I had a very hard time finding a diffuser that fit my hair dryer so I gave up trying one of the hard plastic one's and tried this out. I have curly hair and therefore I need a diffuser when blow drying my hair. I was excited to hear about the mitt that I could use for travel instead of having to bring the diffuser. However, I was disappointed to discover that even on the low speed setting of my dryer, that the diffuser still blows my hair around some. It's better than not using anything on the blow dryer, but not as good as a good diffuser that doesn't blow around your hair.
