Since the 6th grade I have owned/used a succession of Conair dryers, replacing them when they inevitably die after 3-4 years. This is the first time I have used an ionic dryer-I actually just wanted another "regular" dryer but I found out they're not as easy to find now (yet another sign I am behind the times). I've used this dryer for a month now and it's great! Before, I used the fastest setting along with the hottest setting, but with this dryer I use "medium" and it STILL dries my hair faster (btw, I have long, very straight hair). Also, my hair is a bit smoother & softer than with the old dryer--not enough for someone else to notice--but I noticed it from the first use. P.S. I originally got the Conair #174TB Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer model (2.8 lb), but it was too heavy. If this is a concern for you, compare weights. This model (199D) is 2.15 lb--what a difference!

I've bought this hair dryer twice now, and I really like it. Fast speed, good temp (hot, but not too hot), and not super heavy or loud. Great value. My first one lasted a few years, and I've had this one for several months already. I have long, fine hair, and this dryer works great for me. It keeps my hair sleek (not frizzy), adds volume, and isn't overly damaging.

Actually, the FIRST one is still running GREAT. We needed a second one in our guest bathroom and I searched for the exact same model. What we like about this dryer is:
1) it's kind to one's ears
2) has all the heat setting one could possibly need, plus a "cool" button for brush styling
3) the filter on the back pops off for cleaning, which is FANTASTIC. Great engineering design in this regard.
4) it's light-weight

My mom bought this dryer for herself about 5 or more years ago, and like every good daughter I stole it from her b/c I love it so much. I have used now nearly everyday for year and love it. I will say that I am not one to spend a lot on hair dryers so I have never owned anything that was super expensive, to compare it to on a daily basis, but I do have friends that have super expensive styling products, and I end up bringing my own dryer instead of taking forever to use theirs. In the mean time I have used other dryers in hotels, at friends, etc., but those even with the same wattage do no compare when it comes to air flow. The heat settings are perfect too, but what I really love is the amount of air flow. Now it is time to retire mine b/c I have dropped it too many times, and although it still works, I think a hair dryer that costs about $20 looks pretty bad all taped up, so I think I am just going to order a new one that's just the same.

In search of the perfect dryer. While I don't know if one exists, this comes pretty darn close. It smooths my hair, keeps down the frizz and dries in no time flat. The air flow is incredible. I've tried other "turbo" dryers and they don't even come close. Love the fact that it has 3 heat settings. I usually use the middle and lowest one as the top gets really hot. Adjustable air flow on the back of the body is really cool too. If you don't want it to blow your hair around too much, just switch it back to normal air flow. I always use it on Max Air flow. Love it. I've been searching for this ever since my first one died on me. Bought 4 others since. They have been given away since I found this on Amazon. I ordered two just to be safe. Great dryer. You won't be disappointed. Oh and btw, I have long hair which takes a long time to dry. This cuts it into half the time. That's worth its weight in gold anyday.
