My old hair dryer quit on me and I had a long and frustrating look for another one. Despite only having 3 reviews I settled on this one mainly because it was the only one in the store with a several heat AND blower settings and was ionic/ceramic. I really wanted a finger diffuser too; that it doesn't come with one is the ONLY downside to this dryer (not worth taking a star off for). Oh and it's purple not maroon. :)

It is LIGHTER than my old dryer, has a STRONGER blower and though doesn't get as hot, drys my hair FASTER!! I timed it this morning and it took about 3 minutes to almost totally dry my hair. PLUS, it dries it from the inside out so when I was done only the top layer was slightly damp (personal preference). I can definitely tell a difference in my hair after only 2 sessions with this thing.

FYI: I have fine straight(ish) waist length hair. Hope this helps!

I ordered this dryer because of the great price and the fact that it was a ceramic dryer. It works extremely well. My stylist commented on how good my hair looked. Prior to owing a ceramic dryer I used a coil dryer that essentially burnt my hair. There are 3 heat settings, a cool button and 3 air speeds. I have used all the settings and speeds. The variety allows me to easily use the dryer on my 4 year old's hair when necessary without her complaining the air is too hot. The dryer dries my hair extremely quickly and leaves it extremely shiny and healthy looking. The only thing that I don't like about it is the weight. The wattage is great, and it does a terrific job drying my hair, but it is a little heavy.

I ordered the dryer and had it at my home within a week. I had no issues with shipping or delivery. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

I don't usually leave reviews although I always read many before buying a product so I feel it's time to give my two cents back.

My old dryer just died and I couldn't wait for shipping so I picked this dryer up at a local Walmart. This is a great product for the price! It's lightweight which I love since I like to use the heat of the dryer and a round brush to style my hair.

There are two sets of clickable buttons on the handle to include speed settings high, low, and off; temperature settings hot, warm, and cold; and then a cold shot button by itself. I had to get used to the different feel and position of the buttons since I was so used to my old dryer. The buttons felt awkward at first, but now I like that a can click through the settings without having to stop to see what I'm doing.

Other features of this dryer that I like is that the cord is a decent length and there's a removable door at the back so you can clean the lint trap.

Aside from all the nifty features I've listed above, the most important thing to me was how fast it dried my hair. Soaking wet and it still dried my long, thick hair in half the time!! And my hair is frizz free and silky smooth. According to the box this is do to the ceramic coils and ionic technology the put into the product.

If you need a blow dryer that's super affordable, does the job, and has all the cool extras, get the Revlon RDVR5029 1875 Watt Smoothstay Ceramic Ionic Dryer.

I've had this hair dryer for a month now and have only good things to say about it. It is ionic so your hair dries faster but does not have the loud, supersonic blowing power that other high wattage dryers have. I have never written a review in the past, but I depend on them when making purchases so I figured I should give this product a quick review. When my very favorite hair dryer died a year ago I thought I would treat myself to the best hair dryer my budget would allow. I hate drying my hair because (even tough I have fairly thin hair) it always seems to take too long. So when I purchased my $85 hair dryer I figured my enjoyment level would go up. I was SOOO wrong. That stupid thing was way too hot and so loud that my dog and my baby would start to fret every time I used it. It also fried just 1 year after I bought it. So I wanted to go much cheaper with this purchase. I bought this product really doubting that it would be (as previous reviews stated) quieter, less hot, and make your hair shinier. But I just used it for the first time and I am in love! It was all of these things and more (my hair actually dried faster with less heat). I love that it doesn't make me pour sweat and it just seems to give me more control over the hair drying process. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend!

I spent several weeks researching hair dryers before making this purchase. This dryer was recommended to me by my hair stylist. I have very thick hair with a slight wave (just enough to be annoying not completely straight or curly) and was looking for a dryer that would cut down on frizz and dry time and just plain make it easier to dry my hair this has done it all. It is also very lightweight and much quieter than my previous Conair dryer. Now to be honest, this is the first expensive dryer I have ever purchased so I can't personally compare it to others out there on the market, but I read every review I could get my hands on before buying and I didn't see any negatives where other expensive dryers (T3 for instance) seemed to have just as many unhappy customers as happy ones. Even though it was quite expensive I don't regret it one bit. And, even though FHI won't honor their warranty if you buy it from Amazon, Amazon will honor the manufacturer's warranty. It was much cheaper here.

I never really believed that a blow dryer could make a difference, and I kept buying the cheaper drug store dryers. My last one was the Revlon Tourmaline dryer, the one that was touted to be as good as the T3. Well, it was OK, but I still required at least 20 minutes of drying, then smoothing with my FHI iron.

When I saw that FHI had a pro tourmaline dryer, I figured I had to at least try it, since I loved their flat iron so much. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. This dryer is so far superior to anything else I have ever used. My shoulder length thick curly frizzy hair is dry and perfectly styled (with the help of a round ceramic brush) in 15 minutes, no need for my iron anymore. I really can't believe my hair can get this smooth and shiny with only a dryer, but I LOVE IT. So it cuts at least 10 minutes out of my dry/style time.

This dryer is a bit heavier than my drugstore Revlon, but since I'm not holding it as long, it doesn't really matter to me. The noise level is way way down too, I've never heard a dryer this quiet, so peaceful.

If you ever considered weather a pro dryer was worth the money, the answer is YES definitely. I hope this dryer lasts for years, but if it dies I'm running to buy a new one.

This is my new best friend, no more "Bad Hair Days"

I have fine texture, naturally wavy, but very thick hair. My stylist marvels at how long it takes her to dry my hair. This hair dryer is super strong and it has taken time off of my drying and styling. (I am considering bringing it to my next hair appt. for her to try.) My hair has never been this soft from a hair dryer before. Other than wanting funky, jagged texture sometimes, I have stopped using my flat iron! It also gives my hair volume, despite the wonderful softness. I am very happy with this hair dryer, although I still feel guilty for spending so much.

I have justified the cost to myself because I am expecting and HATE blow drying my hair. I don't want to be "that" wife/mom/woman who lives in a ponytail after the baby is born. Honestly, with this hair dryer I am far more likely to style my hair.

Oh, and last thing. My hair is always greasy the second day after washing. IF there is any oil I run the dryer and brush through my dry hair and it looks as good as the first day. I am able to wash my hair every two three days without feeling self-conscious. That was NEVER the case before. I used to use powder in the roots of my hair the second day. Not anymore!

Bottom line, if you are willing to spend the money, I would highly recommend this hair dryer. IMHO, it really does make a difference.

This blow dryer is exactly what I was looking for in a blow dryer. I am African American, with type 3c hair and no matter what I do my hair looks amazing. I can use the diffuser to let my hair remain curly, get a soft sheen and elongated looser curls that what I would get if I let my hair air dry. I also use the diffuser when I coil, shingle or put my hair in rods or curlers to achieve lengthen my curls and freshen them up daily when I wake up.

Besides using the dryer for curly styles, I use it the straighten my hair and the results I get are simply silky. I glide a brush through my hair and it straightens all the frizz out of my hair. Also the dryer get my hair so smooth that I can glide my flat iron through my hair in a matter of minutes to complete styling. On hot days in the summer, I used the dryer to touch up my roots to help keep my hair straight.

As a plus, this is the quietest blow dryer I've ever used. The highest setting I use is warm with low heat although I occasionally use the warm heat setting with the high fan. I haven't needed to even try hot with the low or high fan, yet, but I can say that warm dries shoulder length hair in about 15 minutes or so. I could not give this product a higher review. I've tried my share of dryers and nothing works like this. definitely worth the money since I can get professional results at home. It saves me tons of money since I don't have to go to the salon as often.

Ordered this dryer about a year ago from another site. Was my first time buying a professional dryer (had used drug store brands before). The dryer is great -high heat setting, powerful, cuts drying time by about 30%, leaves hair super shiny and soft, and I noticed that hair stayed that way for longer. It's a bit on the heavy side, and doesn't have that grip coating that some of the other brands have. I give it one star because I was using it two weeks ago and it caught on fire. Thick gray smoke with a burnt plastic smell. I contacted customer service through their website but they didn't respond at all. I don't think it's designed to handle the heat it puts out. Nevertheless, I'm out a pretty expensive professional dryer that only lasted a year. Will not buy this one again, but will look for one that's comparable.

Following first use I was inclined to return this. It is quite heavy, and it only has high and low speed settings. As with other high wattage dryers that have only high and low speed settings, the high is too high and the low is too low to be useful. It really needs an in-between speed. The other thing that really bugged me is the cold shot. All other blow dryers I have used have a cold shot that you hold down and release when you are done. This one is a toggle button. Push it once and it is cold, push again and it is hot. There is no indication of whether it is on hot or cold. You have to recognize the motor sound or apply it to your skin for a few seconds to know what mode it's in. I wish there was a light or a switch so that you knew what mode it was in. However, after using this for a couple months, I am liking it more.

Among the things I really like are that it seems to be really well built, heavy duty cord, nice switches which don't accidentally turn off when you touch them, it has a strong motor, gets really hot, and it really dries fast. Faster than any other blow dryer I have tried and I have tried other high end ceramic dryers. The high speed takes some getting used to for styling, but once you have it, it is really quick. Also, probably the most amazing feature is this rubber bumper on the side so when you lay down the blow dryer, it is cushoned and it doesn't blow itself away. What a great feature! All blow dryers should have this!! Also, a very easy to change filter, just twist and it falls open. No popping it off. Although I would say that it was difficult to figure out what to do here and I tried popping it off and almost broke it before I figured it out.

Although I like it and am keeping it, I am giving this a 3 because of the usability things I mentioned above. Also there is no cable management and the cable is pretty long I had expected a velcro strap at least. Another ceramic blow dryer (Bespoke T3) product I used left my hair softer and shinier. This one dries quicker, and seems much better built, but I don't see the effect of the ionic and tourmaline as much as with the other product. So this is a definite trade off. But the Bespoke model consistently broke down after a year and I am hopeful this one will last.

I did love this dryer, but I have only had it for 4 months and the other night I went to dry my hair and it started smoking and smelled like the wires were burning. I had to shut it off before it caught fire. I am hoping for that amount of money that I will be able to get a refund or a new dryer that will hopefully last longer than 4 months! I had and FHI before for many years and it finally died. I replaced it with a less expensive hair dryer from Hot Tools which was very disappointing after using and FHI for so many years. I'm so glad to have an FHI back. It really does make a difference in the drying time, and also the texture of your hair after you blow dry it. I love the features! Like another reviewer, I like the fact that there are rubber knobs on each side, so when you place it on your bathroom vanity while its running, it does not blow itself off onto the floor. Additionally, the cord it very long and does not tangle easily. Furthermore, unlike another reviewer, I actually like the fact that the cold button stays down until you press it again to release it. I don't like hair dryers that have a button that you must hold with your thumb to either keep the dryer going, or else to keep the cold air coming out. I can't think of anything I would like to improve on this dryer. It was just a little heavier than I expected, but I think that's because the motor is so powerful in this dryer. It's no bother. I would highly recommend this dryer to anyone that would like professional results! Some of the other reviewers said it gets too hot and that's true. That is exactly what I like about this hair dryer. You can achieve a sleek salon blow out. If you have damaged hair, you should not let it rest too long on your hair as you dry it, keep it moving or you will fry your hair.

I received this hair dryer today, and I tried it right away.

I was surprised at first because it was smaller and lighter than I had expected.

The heat can get really hot, and the air speed can get really strong too, and I like it since my hair needs a lot of heat and air strength to get dried and straightened.

I also like how you can dry your hair and straighten it at the same time.

This hair dryer is really cool, and the price is very reasonable as well.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it needs too much pressure to put and take out the straightening pic and the concentrator.

Every time I try to pull it out, I'm scared that I might break it, but I think I'll get used to that.

Anyway, this is a great hair dryer overall.

I selected to purchase this dryer because it is one of the few left that does not have ionic conditioning. I have very fine, straight,short and thin hair and the ionic conditioning dryers zap any body that I may be able to build through shampoos or setting solutions and cancels it out. Actually I purchased a couple of extra ones just in case Conair decides to discontinue this model #261. There is another Conair dryer that looks very similiar to this one that does have ionic conditioning so be careful and don't mix up the two. This dryer works for me. If you have thick, frizzy hair this may not be the best one for you.

I have had this hair dryer for over a year and it works fine except for one thing....the silicone-like finish is melting and sticky. I have been unable to clean it and it is gummy and hair is sticking to it.

I need to toss it and buy something else.

Purchased this on June 4th of 2012 and installed it sometime the following week. Went to get some clothes from the dryer today and they were still damp and cold (dryer was running when I opened it). The price is much nicer than buying a new dryer but it's not worth the hassle of replacing it again just for another year or two (apparently others are getting closer to 2 years from there's).

This worked fine, but after about 22 months it burned out. The original(or the one I replaced) had worked for maybe decades. I was old. This new element most have been made out of inferior metal. There is a slim chance that something else caused it to burn out soon, but I can't think what that would be.
