Review of Hair Therapy Wrap Cordless Thermal Turban Heat Wrap

I just got done using this for the first time, and, while I like it overall, it definitely is hard to get it to fit to your head and stay in place. It comes with three sets of gel packs that you insert into the hood. Then you microwave the entire thing for about 45 seconds to heat up the gel packs. After placing a disposable shower cap on your head, you place this on top to do your deep conditioning treatments.

As the previous reviewer said, this does an excellent job of retaining heat and it covers your entire head. However, the turban twist that you use to secure it doesn't tighten the wrap at all, so on my (rather large) head, it sort of floated around, without staying tightly in place. I used it to do two twenty-minute treatments and just read on the couch, but any time I got up to walk around, it bobbled and I had to hold it in place.

It still beats sitting in one place under a hard-hat dryer for the same amount of time, though, and for that I give it a good rating. It's portable, easy-to-use, and does a nice job of heating up.

It also comes with two disposable shower caps to get you started with your deep treatments, but the elastic bands weren't tight enough to keep my hair on the top of my head, so I went with another disposable cap that I picked up at my local beauty supply.

When I started looking for something that would help with heating my hair for those every other week deep conditioning treatments I had initially set out to purchase a set top dryer to sit under, thinking that would be the best option because that is what they use in the salon. I actually stumbled across this and the thought of being able to move around and getting things done was intriguing. The Hair Therapy Wrap was a cheaper price then a set top dryer so I thought it would be worth a try.

When you receive the item you will find jell filled packets that you insert inside the wrap. You place the wrap inside the microwave for about 45 seconds. Times may be different between different microwaves. It comes with two plastic caps that protects the wrap from absorbing the product that you have placed on your hair. I found that the wrap worked best for me if I actually put it on backwards. Making sure to twist the "tail" as tight as I could which will hold the heat as close to your hair as possible. A little trick that worked for me was to use a hair clip, or I am sure you could use some other fasting device, to hold the "tail" down tight. It does attach to the wrap but when I moved around the house it would start to detach and the extra clip kept it in place and kept the wrap from moving around on my head. The wrap stayed "hot" for about 20 minutes. After that time while it does not add heat it will actually keep the heat for a while longer.

Overall I was very pleased with the purchase. It of course does not have the high amount of heat that a set top dryer but is perfect for deep conditioning treatments and allows you to move around...and will save you some money in the process. Not only is the item a fraction of the cost from a dryer but also does not suck up all the electric and add more noise to your home. I gave it five stars because it does everything they say it should and does everything I ask it to..and my hair looks better after each treatment.

I had purchased this a couple months ago after seeing it featured on a longhair forum where someone mentioned it and then I saw a woman demonstrate using it on youtube. Like everyone says it is very useful it allows for way more mobility than a dryer that is for sure. However being "natural" there is a one misleading aspect of the product and that is that is for all hair types. Ideally yes but realistically no. If you look at all the models they have straight (meaning flat) hair. Now someone could make the case that this can be used on types of natural hair which it can with curly hair that can be flattened easily by this cap, however when you add natural hair with length and considerable thickness that is a different story. To be clear, I have medium sized locs down to the middle of my back and let me assure you this cap does not fit! I have to turn and twist them all of them into an extra large shower cap which you won't get with this product (got some at Sally's) but when you put the spa cap on top of all this hair it barely stays up because it is not big enough. I was a little let down at first BUT I saw a difference in the moisture with my hair and thought well we can/will make it work.....My suggestion (which I am trying as I type) is to fit the cap on your head over the shower cap as tight as it can but then try tying a bandana/large head scarf over the cap! I feel a huge difference, my cap is staying on tight and I can feel the heat even more. I do wish all my hair could fit under the cap, but I realize the point is for the scalp so that can suffice.

One other thing I am anti-microwave so I heat mine on the stove and the gel packs seem to hold heat pretty long (I am sure much like food --with the microwave it heats up fast and gets cold fast; whereas going the traditional way on the stove it will last much longer). I just put the gel packs into a pot of water after it has come to a boil and then leave in for 5 minutes, drain and then transfer to the cap. I am petrified of rays getting into in my food or my scalp and ultimately my body.

All in all, this is a great product if only they would consider people with larger heads and those with longer thicker hair that is not always flat/fine and easy to be manipulated as others. I can only imagine how this will work if I let my hair grow out below my waist. Worthy buy!

Honest reviews on Hair Therapy Wrap Cordless Thermal Turban Heat Wrap

I am trying this today for the first time and really like it. The heat doesn't stay a really long time but long enough. For those who talked about it slipping off, I connected the velcro from the side rather than from the back, as the picture shows. That really helped to keep it in place.

I have the hair dryer that you have to sit under and this is so much better because it is mobile and I don't have to figure out where to store it.

To make it perfect it would hold heat longer and they way it stays on your head would be more effective but it certainly does the job I hoped it would do for a very good price.

Very good buy. Deep condition with heat therapy without having to sit under a dryer. It retains heat for about 30-40 minutes. Really easy to use.

Bio Ionic Blue Wave Nano Ionic Conditioning Brushes Review

This brush made my hair smoother than my old round brush and drying time was much faster. It's very lightweight and the square shape make it easy to 'grab' hair at the roots. My hair is fine and wavy this brush might not work well for people with thick or very curly hair because the bristles are pretty flexible. I got the XL size, it's comparable to a 2" round brush as far as size.

I have been using BioIonic products for several years and have been very happy. The hair dryer and brushes have made a great difference in how my hair looks and how long it takes to dry and style. However, I have two concerns regarding the Nano Ionic brushes. The lesser of these concerns is that it is difficult to detect the size of the barrel when ordering on line. What appeared to be the correct size was actually too small. I am much more concerned about the safety of this brush. The tip of the brush gets extremely hot. It actually burned (branded) my neck when grabbing my hair from underneath. Though the theory behind the design of the Nano brushes and the squared shape of the barrel seem to work well, I would highly recommend using the regular BioIonic brushes until this safety flaw is rectified.

My hairdresser uses this brush and I could never figure out how she got my hair so soft and straight without using a flat iron! I had no idea a brush coul dmake such a difference! WOW! You cant go wrong with this!

Honest reviews on Bio Ionic Blue Wave Nano Ionic Conditioning Brushes

If you are like me, you have probably purchased dozens of round brushes in your lifetime...hoping that someday you might be able to do your hair like your stylist does when you leave the salon. This brush has been a game changer for me and gets me as close to stylist hair as I will ever have on my own.

My hair dries faster, it creates wonderful volume and I use less product because drying with this brush keeps my hair in place. Love it and will never be without it!

They make the best combo for my daily blow out. I have long hair (it hits the bra closure in the back), thin and naturally wavy. 5 minutes of hair drying with this brush and the bio ionic dryer and hair looks positively "done". A polished look in less than 10 minutes, with crazy shine and body. LOVE it!

This dryer is a fast drying dryer great for anyone. The power of this can not compare to a blowdryer you can purchase at most stores---this is much like a professional blowdryer. Would highly recommend this dryer and have been very please at how shiny my hair looks after using this dryer.

I ordered this blow dryer because of all the reviews from other professional stylists. Being a stylist myself, I thought this would be perfect. This is the loudest blow dryer ever. I can not even remotely hold a conversation with a client while doing a blow out. The air concentrator will not stay on the damn thing. Plus, there is no cold shot button. In order to get hot air, I have to use both hands. Used it for about 2 months and I'm so over it. I guess I'll bring it home and use it on myself. But if hair is what you do for a living, go another direction.

Honest reviews on Turbo Power Twin Turbo 3200 Black 324

Twin Turbo makes the best and it's all I buy. I own two of these, one pink for the clients to use and a silver one that I use myself. Apparently this is the strongest and hottest blowing dryer they make and they do very well for me but don't drop it! The pink one gets dropped alot by the clients and I've dropped mine once and now both of them have a little gap in the main seam around the biggest part of the barrel. I don't really know if that affects anything but I don't like the way it looks. I've dropped their older models and this never happened. Not a real big issue and I will continue to buy their products.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I wrap my hair to stretch my natural curls/waves. Wrapping requires less heat and hot tools on my hair to keep it straight. Hair wrapping uses your head like a roller to keep your flat-ironed hair straight overnight too and minimizes the need to flat-iron it again. (To get more general info on hair wrapping go to You Tube search for "wrap your hair and keep it straight overnight" and watch the video.)

Wrap lotions are similar to setting lotions for wrapping hair, wet sets, blow drying, and up dos. I am used to wrap sprays. This is the first time I used a foaming one. This foam is like a medium hold light mousse.

The Foaming Wrap Lotion didn't make my hair crispy or sticky like some other products. It made my hair shine, not as good as the commercials, but better than usual before applying shine serum or shine pomade. Overall the product is good BUT I don't like the scent which did die down but lingered.

My Directions:

Start with damp conditioned hair.

Part hair in 8 sections and clip each

Apply one pump of mousse to a section combed it through until all sections were completed.... use more if desired!

Proceed with the wrap process using hair clips, paddle brush and wrap scarf. Stay On Satin Natural Style Wrapping Scarf #1170

Let hair completely air dry OR use a hair dryer

Flat-iron hair as usual.

* Wrap hair overnight to maintain flat-ironed straight style and reduce hair breakage and tangles.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program You know what I'm talking about... that crispy crunchy texture to your hair that you get when you take your hair out of rollers when you have used wrap lotion.

I haven't used wrap lotion in years. But then I have not used rollers in years either. I didn't this time, either.

Motions hair products are generally marketed towards women of color, and people with similar hair care needs, i.e. African American and multi-racial hair types. I have seen many of their products to do with chemical straightening, but since I haven't done that in years, I've never tried any of them before this.

I intended to use this product along with Motions Naturally you Hair Gloss to prepare my hair for heat styling with a tourmaline flat iron, a device that puts out a tremendous amount of heat to straighten flat hair. Some of what follows appears in my review of the other product.

I started my test off by going to ground zero shampoo and wash with Pantene Smooth shampoo and conditioner for thick hair, cause that's what I have. Then I applied the gloss to my still wet hair, which is how I normally go about my normal 'drip-dry' style. I have a LOT of hair, long, and all of it ringlet-curly. Whatever you are imagining right now, double that. I used a generous amount, several pumps of the product worked between my palms then smoothed through my hair in sections and finger combed.

I followed this with the Motions foaming wrap lotion, same method of application. I was not expecting it to rival the control and definition of my normal combination of Pantene Pro-V Curly Mousse and Shea Moisture Conditioning Curl Milk (a combination meant to support a wash and wear style that does not require heat or any other styling), and it indeed did not.

What I expected is that it would leave my hair in a state ready for thermal styling with a flat iron, and afterward to hold and define the straightened style better. Which it did.

I was pleased by the non-crispy texture of my hair, but as I may have said in other reviews, I needed more moisture to keep my hair in line. So, this is probably not the best product for my intended use, even though it does say it's for thermal styling. I think it's still best used as a hair roller wrap.

This provided a very nice pre-ironed state. Prior to ironing, my hair was much pouffier mane than I normally wear it. It had the ringlets in a bright shine, and was ridiculously soft and touchable! Yet, it had enough definition and hold to not friz out, at least in winter weather. I wouldn't try this in the height of a mid-atlantic summer when I would probably not flat iron at all, or use a heavier moisturizer like Shea Moisture. For that kind of hold and definition, you'd really need to be looking at an entirely different product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have fine hair, and I am always looking for ways to add body...hairspray works, but it either leaves my hair crunchy or stiff, or both. I put this foaming lotion in my hair while it was still wet, and used a blow dryer. I didn't notice a difference at first, but when I used my curling iron, the curls held extremely well, and I was still able to run my fingers through my hair without losing any of the style. The best part was that my hair did NOT fall flat just a few hours later the style actually lasted a lot longer!

What I also enjoyed was the scent it kind of reminded me of Joico Shampoo with jojoba, but I didn't see it in the ingredients. In any case, it smelled great, and did not have a chemical scent like some hair products.

I'm thinking about trying more of the Motions product line now.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This styling FOAM is easy to use and to dispense exactly the amount you want (more for firm hold, less for light control.) It gave my LONG hair real body, shine and volume without any stiffness at all. I just combed it thru my damp hair, scrunched my hair a bit, and got a clean-looking, natural style. Recommended!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My daughter reports that this product works well. She has a thick head of hair and she loves to set it in everything from a 1910s Gibson Girl hairdo to waves, etc. Sometimes hair products have a hard time making a difference because her hair is so thick, but this is a winner.

The pump bottle is also environmentally friendly...no propellants, and you get a full bottle, not one that's partially full of product and partially full of propellant.

The item looks EXACTLY as pictured, only mine came white not black like the picture dictates, and I didn't see that I had to specify color anywhere. The piece is solid; I dropped it and thought I would either bend it or knock the paint off, but neither occurred. I'm not sure if the seller used powdercoating or what, but its tough paint. The piece was very well made. My biggest gripe is it wasn't black, like pictured, and the hardware provided were some 1/8" anchor screws; I wasn't too keen on drilling a 1/8" hole into the wall.

I love the product, it frees up LOTS of counter space (or cabinet space, whichever she uses), and it look quite classy when fully dressed in blow dryer/straightener/curler/etc.

I was anxious to try this curling iron after reading about it in a magazine. Couldn't find it in local retail/beauty supply stores so went to trusty Amazon and got it.

Spiral curls that start wider and taper to smaller, like an inverted triangle, are much more flattering than uniform ones, and this curler can create those.

I have fine, wavy/curly hair, chin length, and alternate between flat ironing and going 'natural'. I have used 'regular' curling irons with mixed success, because I like the spiral effect and more lift at the scalp, so I thought this cone shape would help accomplish a better look.

It has no clamp, nothing to hold the hair on the surface, you just take a piece of hair and twist it around the barrel, twisting down toward the narrower tip, hold for a few seconds. (It is best to have some gel or product in your hair especially if your hair is fine and needs protection from the heat).

It does heat up quite quickly, as advertised.

A minor negative is that the on/off button was placed in a poorly planned position on the wand, and the button is too sensitive, a mere touch and you have shut the thing off mid curl. I have done that several times.

It was fairly easy to master on my left side, as I am right handed; when I got to my right side, and have to 'twist' with my non dominant hand -I am finding it really tricky. Forget about doing the back, that is just too hard. I suggest using a different method for the back, another curling iron or hot curlers, or whatever, if your hair is shorter particularly.

It did create a wonderful lift at the scalp and the nice spiral shaped curl I was looking for. I have burned myself twice and I recommend using a hot glove (not included).

Another thing that should have been included was a heatproof sleeve, like my Sedu flat iron has but I guess they opted not to as I guess this is a lower priced mass market item.

Overall I recommend provided a heatproof glove is used, if you are patient enough to handle the learning curve with using it on your non dominant side. Creates really pretty curls.

(postscript Nov 2012-someone informed me the manufacturer now includes a heat glove!)

Trying to improve my reviews, so if you found value in this one let me know by checking the 'helpful' box.

I have medium/long straight hair, and I have tried to achieve curls (or at least waves) for YEARS with no luck. I can't seem to figure out hot rollers to save my life, and I always get weird kinks in my hair when I try using regular curling irons. Plus, that just gives me tight "Shirley Temple" curls which isn't really the look I want. Recently, my boyfriend suggested that I start wearing my hair curly, so I looked online for tips on how to get waves with a curling iron since I can't figure it out apparently. I found a suggestion that wrapping your hair around the barrel might work better, so I went to the store in search of a curling iron since I no longer owned one. Then I saw this one, and even though I am a broke college student, I impulsively decided to drop the 40 bucks on this since it appeared to be what I was looking for. I AM SO HAPPY I BOUGHT THIS. I get the prettiest, softest wavy hair with this curling iron. It's actually really easy to use, and the more I use it, the better I get at it. You could definitely get really cute tighter curls with this too, but I choose to use larger chunks to get a wavy look. I have seen people suggesting that you use a heat glove, but I'm fine without one. I suppose it would help if you want the curls to go all the way to the end of your hair, though. Another thing I like about this iron is that you start curling your hair closer to the scalp so you get a lot of volume. The curls let out a little throughout the day, but I think they look even better after they relax a bit. I would (and already have to several people) suggest this curling iron!!!

Best Deals on Infiniti YOU CURL Curling Wand

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have two huge complaints with most curling irons. One is that the ends of my hair usually look fried. The second is the dreaded clamp mark that I ultimately get. This iron eliminates both problems for me.

One of my biggest pet peeves with curling irons and straighteners is that when the on/off switch and temperature control are on the handle...and they all are due to design limitatins...I'm constantly accidentally changing the heat setting or turn off the iron. This didn't happen with the Conair CD117 Infinity You. This scored huge points with me.

My hair is halfway down my back. It's naturally wavy with a loose curl. I would not recommend this product for hair that is shorter than shoulder length. The hair has to be long enough to wrap around the iron one or two times AND have enough hair left to hold the ends on the cool tip. If the hair is too short to do this, the user could easily get burned.

This iron is also best for bouncy curls, spiral curls or to add body. If you are trying to get your hair to flip up or down...this wouldn't be the best item. I also would never use it on my bangs. It isn't very versatile in that respect. It exceeds my expectations for spiral curls and body. So, the curls it can create...it does well.

I didn't have any problems using this device. There was no learning curve for me. The iron heats up quickly. There was no weird smell during the first use. I also didn't have any problems with touching the curling iron shaft. No burns. I actually used it for the first time on a day that I had a job interview. My hair looked great. The ends looked healthy-other curling irons make them look dry. The curls were perfect. There were no clamp marks!! I didn't use any additional styling products. I washed and conditioned my hair and blew it dry using my regular hair dryer and a round brush. Then I used the CD117.

My tips:

-I usually straighten my hair at 350-degrees. I kept the Infinity at 330 for curling-which was the second to the lowest setting.

-I held the iron in the hand on the side of my body opposite to hair I wanted to curl. I used my free hand to wrap the hair. This makes it easier to hold the iron with the tip pointing down.

-Hold the iron with the cool tip pointing down.

-I started wrapping my hair about 3-4 inches from the top of my head.

-I put the top section of hair in the middle of the iron shaft and wrapped down.

-I left an inch of ends hang off the cool tip. This keeps you from getting burned.

-Once I had the hair wrapped, I twirled the curling iron counter-clockwise to get the hair closest to the top of my head wrapped.

-I counted to 8 and unwrapped my hair.

-I let the curls cool completely before doing anything else.

Every section of hair I wrapped turned out great. It took less than 15 minutes for me to curl my entire head of hair.

This is indeed the best curling iron I've ever used. If mine breaks I will replace it even at twice the selling price.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or give it as a gift. I have told everyone I could about this product.

Honest reviews on Infiniti YOU CURL Curling Wand

I tried both the regular You Curl and the XL size, so this review relates to both. Yeah, I'm wordy but I'm giving all the info I would have liked when I was deciding what to buy!

We all have different hair, so the same item won't work identically for each person. Me, I have fine hair (as a kid it was somewhat wavy, but now is fairly straight after blow drying) that curls fairly easily and also damages easily. Due to coloring, my hair is fragile so I've always avoided hair tools like this that apply direct heat. I always dry my below-shoulder length hair with a dryer, and curl the ends a bit with a hot air brush. But I really wanted beach waves, so I bought the smaller size Conair You Curl as my first attempt at this. I kept the heat on the lowest setting and only did about 5-8 seconds, but the curls were too small and tight. The wand tapers quite a bit at the bottom (1/4" perhaps??), so you really get a small curl down there and the hair does tend to slide down the wand, so no avoiding that. I wasn't totally happy with the effect as it was just too tight for my taste. I read reviews like crazy but in the end, the Conair seemed to have the most enthusiastic reviews, and frankly, I couldn't see anything to justify paying a hundred or more for pretty much the same technology with a fancy brand name price bump: Let's face it, there isn't much overly special about curling wand technology, the thing heats up. I think it might be the other features that determine what you like. Some of the more expensive wands seemed to lack good features that I liked on the Conair.

I decided a larger barrel might work better, but the question was how large to go. Since I liked the basic features of the Conair and they had a larger model, I ordered the XL on Sunday, and with Prime it arrived Tuesday. BINGO! The larger barrel size on the XL is just what I needed to get the effect I wanted. Perfect beach waves and I did my whole head in under 5 minutes. Since I'm not a fan of the tight curls, I'm not keeping the smaller one. Other people who like Taylor Swift type curls would like the smaller size.

Features I especially like and which are not necessarily on other brands:

1. One button to turn it on or off. Second button to click thru the four labeled heat settings, 310 to 400. I stuck to 310 due to my fine hair, it's plenty hot. I liked having temperature choices rather than just "on" and "off" as is the case with some wands. It heats up really quickly, which is great (under 30 seconds). I really don't get the complaints about accidentally turning this off or changing the heat, that has never happened to me. On the heat button, you don't press straight down, you press to one side (with a +) to move the heat upwards, and the other side (marked with a -) to reduce heat, so it would be hard to accidentally change the setting. You have to push the on/off button down enough that I don't think you would accidentally turn it off, either. It needs to be a deliberate action with the tip of your finger.

2. Ceramic wand surface: Seems fine, although I would actually doubt that any of the hype on "special coatings" for any of the brands means all that much. I suspect this type of "ceramic" surface (feels like Teflon) might be a bit better than the shiny metal that older curling irons had, but perhaps not, they all get dang hot, that's how you get the curl. The smaller size wand tapered quite a bit starting at the middle and was quite small at the tip, whereas the XL didn't taper so extremely, and from that standpoint I had less hair slippage with the XL The XL box stated that the wand size was 1-1/4" down to 3/4 inch. I don't know what the smaller one is, the box didn't give this info, but the tip in particular is much smaller on it. I found the XL much easier to use, actually, and it seemed somewhat quicker to use overall by a few minutes. When I was reading reviews of various brands, I noticed some went as large as 2", but from my experience with the XL, I know I wouldn't like one that large, I don't think I'd get the waves with it.

Final comment on size: I saw a major difference in the type of curl I got with the two wands, both in 5 to 8 seconds for my fine hair. Less time with the smaller wand didn't mean a looser beachy wave, it just didn't look all that good, it wasn't shaped very well. A bit more time made a tighter ringlet type curl (again, on my hair) if you want that and all the fullness that goes with it. I had to mess with my hair more afterwards, trying to loosen up the curls, and I really couldn't ever quite get the look I wanted (loose, flowing beachy type waves).

I felt I had more control with the XL...in 5 or 6 seconds I got I nice loose beach wave that looked right, and a bit more time gives more of a curl. So I feel I get the best of both possibilities with the XL. Overall, I want to get the look I want with the least possible time of hair around the hot wand. 5 seconds seems pretty good to me.

3. Ease of Use: Ladies, there's maybe a three or four time usage learning curve, that's it. I never even bothered with that mini-glove and I haven't burned myself. I've used the wands maybe 5 times now and it's easy as pie, you get the hang of it pretty quickly. I'll add that I'm pretty much a hair moron with very little experience doing special things with my hair, I've always been a dry and go type of girl. With this wand, you just need to be careful as you use it, watch your face and ears and finger tips, and that's it. I don't really see how you could use this wand with that silly glove on anyway. It gives a false security, and you don't need it.

The key to doing the waves is hold the wand with your left hand when you are doing your right side, and vice versa. You can hold it somewhat horizontal when wrapping it, then point it down, and this minimizes the slippage people complain about. If you try to wrap your hair with the wand in the vertical position, yes, hair slips down a bit too much, but mostly it doesn't matter. You figure out how to hold things and how tight to wrap your hair, it all becomes natural rather quickly. Don't totally wrap the end of your hair, you hold onto that while and after winding the strand of hair around the wand. Then release. Really, it's all quite easy to do. For my fine hair, smaller chunks of hair make a tighter curl/wave, and more hair makes it looser. You figure this all out quickly, what you like. Coarser hair might need higher heat or more time than I use. Also, I'll mention that after washing and conditioning, I apply a Tresemme split end remedy leave-in cream and a bit of something like Pearatin's Fortifyiing Repairative Serum (love this stuff!!), then blow dry, curl up ends a bit with my hot air brush (so the ends aren't straw like straight). THEN I use the curling wand. When done, I leave the waves alone for 5 to 10 minutes before messing with it.

It sounded like I needed a heat protectant spray to protect my hair if possible due to the heat of the barrel touching my hair, so I tried the Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray. It's great, doesn't gunk up the hair, and smells nice and not overpowering. With a light hand in the spraying of it, when you are done you can't even tell it's on the hair, no stickiness or stiffness at all, so I like it. I hope it protects well enough. I'm still trying to decide the best time to use this: on my wet hair after applying my Pearatin etc. but before blow drying, or whether to blow dry and then put it on before using the You Curl. Not sure yet on this. http://www.amazon.com/TRESemme-Thermal-Creations-Tamer-Protective/dp/B000H88QOM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358287161&sr=8-2&keywords=tresemme

4. Cord: plenty long enough, with a swivel feature that is nice. Regular plug, not one of those block things.

5. It seems to cool down fairly quickly, and has a little stand type thingy on the barrel handle so when you lay it down on a surface, the hot part isn't touching anything. (tip touches, but it doesn't get hot)

6. Five year warranty, but be sure to register with Conair.

7. Finally, price: Hands down Amazon has the BEST price I found anywhere. There may be sales here and there, but I looked all over and couldn't find the XL in any store. Lots of places had the smaller wand for nearly twice Amazon's price and in the usual pharmacies it ranged from ten to twenty bucks more than Amazon. The price differences are amazing, I was quite shocked. A few dollars I'd expect, but twice the price in a couple of places! Yikes! And some online places charged ten bucks more for the XL than the smaller size, whereas on Amazon there is only a one dollar difference!

Overall, excellent, and I'm quite happy with the XL. I really don't see how anything at a higher price point could be better.

My boyfriend bought this for me, sort of on impulse. I've used every styling tool known to man, and this thing looked cool.

I'd tried the whole "wrap-around" technique (i.e. grab a section of hair, wrap it around the barrel of a curling iron without using the clamp) before, and was excited because I figured I'd get the hang of this pretty quick. I played with the you curl on three separate occasions, using different-sized chunks of hair each time, and every time the results were disappointing. Using small chunks of hair, you get kinky, multi-directional shocks of hair shooting out every which waykind of like a poodle that's been electrocuted. Medium chunks of hair will get you some soft curls with a strange bend in them here and there. And large chunks of hair tend to lose whatever shape the iron gives themusually ending up with a weird right-angle bend in them somewhere.

One of the problems with this tool is that it's tapered. If it were a consistent thickness from base to tip, the hair wouldn't slowly inch its way down the tool to the thinnest part of the iron. As it is, hair tends on slipping, so you end up with tighter curls than desiredwith weird bends in them.

I love the look of soft waves as opposed to really tight curlsand I love the idea behind this product. However, it is easy to get better, more consistent results by wrapping medium-to-large chunks of hair around a regular 1" barrel curling iron, pretending the clamp is not there. If you don't wind tightly, you won't have any crimpy marks in you hair denoting the clamp line, and because the barrel is not tapered, hair tends to stay in place better.

I'd at least reccommend using a regular curling iron in this fashion before you buy the you curl.

I gave this 5 stars because it helped me to decide to buy the Conair Infinitpro for $36.46. Why pay $98 for a No-Name rotating styler that has only 2 reviews, both of which are suspect since one reviewer has only one review and the other has three reviews for 3 products purchased on the same day. I would rather buy a well-known brand product that has over 900 reviews that average 4+ stars and costs about 1/3 the price of the No-Name.

If you are looking for one of these, this little lady is the one you want. Numerous somewhat adjustable cuffs to fit almost any size hair dryer. I have long, super thick hair and this cuts my drying time almost in half, plus it gives an awsome wave that lasts all day-very sexy. Great price, and in my opinion the wider the better control you have.

I owned a similar diffuser by a different brand and it eventually broke. I looked EVERYWHERE for the same diffuser and couldn't find it. Then I stumbled upon this one and it's practically identical. I have naturally curly hair and will never be without this diffuser! Love it!

I purchased this diffuser when I had broken the one that came with my hair dryer. I love the size of the bowl and the amount of air that is circulated, it makes my hair curlier than it ever has been before. The diffuser comes with a few different attachments to fit different sized dryers. I have to kind of wiggle the nozzle on my dryer into a smaller attachment, but it fits nice and tight with no fear of it coming off. If you have a very large nosed dryer it will probably not work with this diffuser.

Honest reviews on Helen Of Troy Euro Style Finger Diffuse * Unique European Design

all the fittings are too small for any hair dryer. I bought this diffuser and found that even the largest one didn't fit on my dryer, so I went to the store to buy a new hair dryer and could find one that would fit for under $150! why on earth would someone make an adaptable diffuser with such tiny fittings. what a sick joke! I actually do like the diffuser though, but Ive been having to hold it onto my dryer with a towel wrapped around the attachment part, and it's such a pain, but I like how it dries my hair otherwise I'd just buy a hair dryer with custom diffuser. I'll have to go to home depot and try to figure out a way to fit it to my dryer, but wow, bad design on the adaptable parts. wouldn't go through this trouble again.

None of the adapters fit my hair-dryer. I was bummed. So now I will probably have to buy a hair-dryer that comes

with its own diffuser.

I have longish, thick hair that hates humidity. I live in California so as a solution (and lazyness) I wore my hair up with a band all summer. It destroyed the hair follicle and became a fuzzy mess. I went to my hair stylest and asked what to do. She said the only solution was to cut it off but when she styled it, it behaved. So she tried selling me a $345 hair dryer calling it "an investment." Even if I had the money, I think spending that amount of money on a blow dryer is ridiculous. So I went to amazon. Read all the reviews, which is always tricky, but took a chance on this guy. Never been happier with a "blind" purchase. Granted, I had the best blow dryer target can buy (prolly $40), but the difference is amazing. The diffuser smoothes my fuzzies, my hair is silky, and stays that way throughout the day, even with humidity/coastal weather. Don't want to say I never write reviews because everyone says that but felt it would be a disservice if I didn't. This review would have helped me while I was researching so there you go!

I am one of those people who didn't know any better and only used drugs store hair dryers. I have been getting the Japanese straight perm for many years every 6 months on my long (below the shoulder blades), slightly curly and thick Asian hair. I tried the top two best ones from Folica. I did not experience the significantly shiny hair that many people raved about at all unfortunately. My hair was less frizzy though. Here are the winners for the following categories:

weight: Sedu by far! The weight is the main reason I returned the Solia dryer. By the way, the cheapest return shipping fee through USPS with Delivery Confirmation Receipt is $12! Ouch.

airflow: Sedu. Even at the lowest setting, my hair was getting tangled and knotted like crazy with Solia. I also lost A LOT of hair after each hair drying session (double the usual amount). I don't want to go bald!

temperature: Solia. The cooler setting on the Solia was perfect for me. The warmer setting wasn't too hot. I don't think I'll ever use the hotter setting on the Sedu because the cooler setting was warm for me.

drying time: Tie. The time difference between the two was only like 3 minutes apart. Solia's 5 min vs. Sedu's 8 minutes.

Overall winner: Sedu.

Honest reviews on Solia 1875W Thermal Ionic Hair Dryer

I have always used hair dryers bought from Wal-Mart or Target. My old hair dryer died and living in a very humid climate, I decided to treat myself. I always had to style my hair after blow drying it, but with this hair dryer, I just dry and go! It's so fantastic and my hair feels so soft and healthy. My friend's husband asked me if I did something different with my hair, so when other men are noticing...it's a good product. Go for it! You'll save time and money in the long run.

This is the best dryer I have ever spent money on! The "Solia" 1875w. I usually don't spend this much money on a dryer, but it was worth it! It made such a difference in the shine and very soft. It also dried in half the time! I have long curly, dry, course hair. It didn't fry my hair dry. It's like wind-blown. Very pleased with the quality of this product. I spent $84 but Amazon has it for $79.99 with S&H.

My hair dresser told me years ago to buy a quality dryer, I'm 45, I wish I listened to her. Worth the money.

It meets all the claims when it works; after about 10 months, its starting to die. It will quit heating for a while, then start heating, then quit...an so on. After trying it with an extension cord from a different, more modern, electrical plug, the problem seems not as bad. I wonder if they circutry was cheaply made and can't handle ANY minor normal power fluctuations. I don't expect the unit will work though the end of the month. Buyer beware.

See below: these guys get real crabby when their distributor middle men arn't getting the cut they think they diserve.

There is NO WARRANTY for this unit sold from any internet distributor, as from the manufacturers' (Farouk, Houston, TX) website: "Any product manufactured by Farouk Systems, Inc. will lose its warranty if purchased from an internet distributor of any sort. I saw these hair dryers in the store a while ago, and thought it was nuts to spend close to a hundred dollars on a hair dryer. There was nothing wrong with my $30 model; my hair dried just fine. This hairdryer, though, works so much better!

A few weeks ago, I went to a spa and while I was drying my hair, I noticed -it was so conspicuous -how quiet the dryer was. I finished drying my hair in what seemed like less time, and left the spa feeling like the treatment left my hair softer and smoother than before. I thought it was just the spa environment. The next day I bothered to notice the brand of the hairdryer, and was recognized the "chi" brand.

I came home and bought the hairdryer, knowing I could return it to the store if my experience didn't duplicate the experience I had at the spa.

I still have the hairdryer. The dryer is much more quiet, it dries my hair faster, AND it does leave it smoother (it wasn't the spa products or their water!). I wish I had bought this years ago.... it is so very much worth it.

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. This model is great. Maybe the $200 model is better, but this one is good enough. If I were to lose the dryer tomorrow, I would go out and repurchase it again quickly. It really is that good.

The heating element broke on 3 different units after less than 9 months of continuous use. This product is a lemon.

Honest reviews on Farouk LOW EMF GF 1541 Professional 1300 Watt Hair Dryer

This hair dryer has completely changed my ability to manage my mornings! I have 2 young children and a 45 minute commute so, as you can imagine, I don't get much time for myself in the morning. Well, now I don't NEED time for me. I used to spend at least 3-5 minutes drying my layered, shoulder-length hair and then from 5 and 10 minutes getting it styled properly. The CHI 1300 hair dryer dries my hair in about 45 seconds, and it no longer requires separate styling the dryer works with my hair's natural texture and leaves it shiny, soft and needing only some pomade to look finished and gorgeous. The volume and body last all day no more bad hair days. It sounds silly to say an appliance can really improve your life, but this one has. Well worth the expense!

I've owned this hairdryer for about a year and a half. It is well worth the higher price tag. It is the ONLY hairdryer I have ever used that has decreased my fly aways and made my hair feel smoother and healthier. I did have a piece on the inside of the hairdryer come loose about 6 months ago after a small tumble from the bathroom counter, but the manufacturer honored it's warranty and replaced it. I've had no problems since then.
