I actually have the 2" and it is by far the best curiling iron I have ever used. My hair is the type that has always been hard to curl even with a "gallon" of hairspray, it just would never hold. (I have long/thick hair) I barely put any hairspray on and my curls were awesome loose curls. I plan on getting the 1 1/4" inch one also for some tighter curls.

You know how the skinny ends of your hair you usually have to use your fingers to wrap the hair around because it will slide right through? That didnt happen with this. No matter how skinny the ends of my hair were or how skinny a section of hair I did, the curling iron gripped the hair right to the very end so I never had crappy looking ends or burned my fingers wrapping it around.

I have nothing negative to say about this curling iron at all.

I used this for the first time this morning, and I CAN'T believe the difference tourmaline makes! I had a ceramic iron before, and there is NO comparison! I wouldn't bother spending the big $ on chi or T3 for the price you cannot beat this one!

I've been looking around for a good tourmaline ceramic curling iron and went with this one for now because of the low price. I do like it and as far as I can tell it does not seem to damage my hair. Maybe in the future I'll go with a pricier one but for now this one seems to do just fine.

Pros:

heats up fast and has different heat settings

the protective cover comes in handy

can't beat the price

tourmaline ceramic better than just ceramic or

worse, bare metal

looks nice

auto shut off

Cons:

the on/off switch is in a bad spot on the handle.. I

am constantly shutting off the iron by accident

the cool tip is not long enough to hold onto, making

it easy to burn your fingers

I honestly have not had this iron more than a week

so I can't say there aren't more cons but I'll

update this if I do find any

This is an awesome curling iron, which heats up super fast and even across the entire curling surface (no hot spots). The multi-heat settings and LCD readout are also clever and very useful features as well. The cost is amazing and the shipping from Amazon couldn't be faster! So, with all of these raves, why do I not give it a perfect 5 star rating? Well, two minor quibles keep me from giving it a perfect score. First of all, the LCD panel displays the temperature setting that you selected, but it gives you no indication of when the iron has been heated to that setting. There should be some sort of visible notification to let the user know that the iron has achieved the desired temperature. Also, included in the box is a clever slip on cover that you can supposedly slide over the iron, after it has been shut off, to protect you from the hot surface of the slowly cooling iron. However, the slip on sleeve becomes extremely hot to the touch, so it offers very little protection. And since the cover is plastic I am afraid that it could possibly melt and/or cause some damage to the iron surface.

Overall I think this curling iron deserves a solid 4 and 1/2 stars, but falls short of a perfect 5. I feel very confident in recommending it to anyone looking for a high quality iron that will meet or exceed their expectations. This iron is a top performer with just a couple of little shortcomings.

This is, by far, the best curling iron I have ever owned and I have owned a zillion of them. It holds your hair firmly but still let's it slide without damage to your hair. I use the highest setting and my waves last all day. I like the cover that comes with it so I can put my hot curling iron away withouth waiting for it to cool down. The long cord makes it possible to use just about anywhere. It is a quality product and I highly recommend it.

My hair is a naturally wavy, but the back of it is so wavy (and not in a pretty way) that no matter how much time I spend on it, I can never straighten it using just my blow dryer, or even afterward using a flat iron. It's hard for me to get my arms around back there anyway. While this product isn't a straightening product, when I use it, I'm able to flip my head over, brush my hair from scalp to end while drying, flip it back and finish the back of my hair with a round brush on the ends. My hair stays smooth and straight until my next shampoo.

This product leaves my hair silky and shiny, and I'm a 54-year-old woman who has my hair colored and it still makes my hair look great. I highly recommend this product. Beware, as my stylist told me, that you can see some "smoke" come off your hair as you're drying it when this product is in your hair. It's not your hair burning, it's just the product and the moisture evaporating together.

Has alcohol in it which stung my scalp and dried my hair. Did not make my hair thicker, maybe just a little. It was sticky too. I guess it's o.k. if you just want a bottle of hair-spray. I was afraid it would make my hair fall out more, so I dumped it out down the sink after trying it for 3 days. I will use the spray bottle for something else. It is a good spray bottle. I saw this on display at a Walgreen's, however, non in stock, was told they were deciding not to carry. THEIR mistake! Amazon had it for about 10 bucks cheaper and it works great! Love the short clip, (you don't have to "clip" the entire curl"), styles can be much more flexible because of the three zone temperature control. I set low heat at the "ends" of my hair where I clip it, so my ends don't fry with high heat, and use medium or high heat in the middle and at the end, depending on what style I want! I would have paid twice what I paid for this, it's really awesome, it's versatile, and easy to use! Thanks, Amazon!

I opened and plugged in my curling iron as soon as it arrived. I set it for glamorous waves and it worked perfectly! You do have to take fairly small sections at a time and be careful because the iron does get quite hot. Overall, I can already tell this iron is going to be fabulous for curls and waves in my stick straight hair.

These are fantastic for a variety of occasions! They're really fun for dances, parties, or raves. They clip into hair easily and stay well. A friend of mine had a rave themed birthday party for a friend and there were tons of glow sticks and glow jewelry that you see fairly often. These however are seen less frequently and so attract more attention.

The seller's description that the barrette is "thin" and can be worn "under the hair so that only the lights are visible" is a farce. While the barrette is small in shape, it has a significant thickness to it, and any attempt to hide it in medium thickness hair continually resulted in the barrette being clearly visible. Those with straight or fine hair will most certainly find the product disappointing. In addition, the barrette lights up very bright much, much brighter than the fiber optic strands, further detracting from the point of this item, which is the fiber optic strands. So now you have this bright flashing object blinking on your head like you're some kind of traffic light.

I bought several of these items as stocking stuffers. The first one out of the package needed fiddling with in order to get it to function at all. The design is such that the batteries are too loose in the barrette enclosure and thus they do not make good contact with the electrical contacts. A couple hours later, it once again stopped functioning, and I had to take the whole thing apart to adjust the contacts so that they would continuously transmit the batteries' electricity. In doing so, the tiny little tabs that hold the cover in place broke off. Yes, I was as careful and gentle as I could be, but the plastic tabs are so tiny, any kind of pressure will obviously cause them to break, which they did do.

I have not inquired as to the remainder of the ones I bought that I gave away to others' children, so I can't honestly say that EVERY one had the same design/manufacturing flaws.

At the end of the day, it's a cheap little gift, and as long as you don't have high expectations for it (or expect the description to be accurate), have the patience to fiddle with thing (and have some glue or tape on standby) it can be a fun while it lasts.

I really liked these in my hair. They lasted the whole night and looked pretty neat I think my boyfriend was jealous that they didn't have any for short boys hair! I was at a loss for how to turn them off until I realized that the back panel slides off and you can take out the batteries. AND even better to use these hair lights for my party and then get the BONUS of having 2 extra round batteries after to use for other things can never have enough of those batteries!

I have been finding little fiber-optic strands around my apartment though, which leads me to believe some of the 'hairs' fell out, but not enough to be noticeable on the barrette.
