I love this brush. My hair is medium thick texture and very long right above my buttocks. My hair takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to blow dry and flat iron with my old blow dryer and round brush. What's so amazing about this brush is the ceramic white part works as a flat iron. It took me literally 30 minutes to dry my hair. In addition, I used a very good blow dryer the Rusk Speed Freak Professional Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer 2000 watts. The large brush 3-3/4 grabbed large amounts of hair and was still able to glide smoothly and dry quickly. Results were no frizz, no dry desert look, it was very shiny, healthy looking and stayed straight all day even in the high humidity. Do I recommend this brush absolutely. If you decide to purchase the brush and the blow dryer remember to add enough thermal heat protection to your hair and moroccan oil (this is good to practice all the time regardless of any type of hair dryer).

Ten years ago (2003), my stylist used this amazing very large brush (3 3/4") to smooth & straighten my thick & very wavy hair. I have struggled to achieve that smooth, shiny, straight (but not the limp "flat-head") look which you only get from a salon. I have bought and used so many other hairbrushes and tried to get that "Fresh out of the Salon Look"...but not achieving it. My stylist showed me how to blow dry my hair (in small section) with this brush. When blow drying, the hairbrush barrel stays hot and the bristles "grips" your hair giving you the needed tension to smooth/straighten "difficult/unruly/wavy/thick" hair...like mine.

My stylist ordered two for me and have I achieved the same results myself at home. My original hairbrush(es) lasted for 3+ years (each). I was pleased to find on Amazon (through HairArt) was selling the same brush! I definitely stocked-up on these!

This helps my hair stay thick, soft, and in it's place. I only wash my hair once a week with castile soap or baking soda, and I let my hair oils do the rest. I use it as a finishing product, and it does a great job keeping my short cropped hair in place. My hair grows back faster when I use it than when I don't, which is fine with me.

The brush itself works nicely. It is a good size if you are looking just to flip up the ends of the your hair, or curl under your bangs.

It can get hot so keep out of the reach of kids, it also is a very rough brush which could be dangerous to a small child.

Well I normally wash my hair when I receive it. This hair had black rinse of some type on it. When I washed it the shampoo lather was jet black. That tells me it isnt true remy hair. Remy hair has no chemicals or processing. I was disappointed as I normally lighten the hair to a brown but I am afraid it may damage the hair now that I know it has color on it. The texture is ok not GradeAAAA but ok

So far I like using this hot air brush. I have actually been using hot air brushes everyday for years and I don't know what I would do without them. I was using a different brand (Helen of Troy) and after several months, it would gradually start to burn some of the plastic off and as a result it would start burning my hair as well. Sometimes they would just burn up and stop working. It seems to be more difficult to find the hot air brushes that are 3/4", so I continued to use the same brand. Then this time I saw this Salon Edition one available in 3/4" and decided to try it. I have heard good things about Salon Edition before. It is still too early to determine if this one will perform better than the others after several months, but so far I like using it. If this one outlasts the others I have used, then I will be sticking with Salon Edition hot air brushes.

With wavy, fine AND color-treated hair, I have always been "curling iron challenged" and could easily burn my hair (or myself for that matter), so I have used hot air brushes as my solution to that for many years. I got my money's worth out of my old Pro IV, but after 10 years, it finally died. My next experiment with a Jilbere de Paris was a disaster. Not enough power and it tangled my hair every time. Tried a combination of regular blow dryer and a styling hot brush (a curling iron type brush without air), but that didn't work for me either. Results were always frizzy. After reading other reviews of the Salon Edition, I decided to give it a try. Nice! Good power, (2 speeds even!) flexible and with occasional use of the release button, my hair does not get tangled in it. Like all hot air brushes, if used all by itself, it is a slower process than a more powerful hand-held dryer. I don't get enough control with that and it takes most of the curl out of my naturally wavy hair. What works best for me is to use a regular hand-held dryer until my hair is no longer sopping wet, just to the quite-damp stage. Then I switch to the Salon Edition with a little mousse or gel and style away! No need for a curling iron or flat iron follow-up either. The results are much kinder to my hair (no burning, no frizz). I hope I don't have to shop again for another 10 years! But I never found a better price for the Salon Edition than right here!

OK, it's nearly 2 years later. I have used it nearly everyday and now the piece at the end that covers the cord and let's it swivel has cracked and won't hold together any longer. It does not seem to have affected the way it works, but I am not taking any chances and will buy a replacement. I don't think I dropped it, but who knows? I dragged it all over the world with me traveling and never had a problem with it, so I am still a fan! March 21, 2013.

These fit the old Vidal Sassoon VS783 model 1875 ionic. It's not a perfect fit (original has slight curve at ends and these are straight) but they stay on just fine (and i have long hair). And they seem to be sturdier than the originals.

I purchased Andis replacement combs for my 1875 style dryer. 85010 REPLACEMENT COMBS/ 80345 When I read the description, it stated that the attachments fit 1875 style dryers. When I went to use the attachments after washing my hair this evening, however, they did not fit. I cannot even return them, as I do not have a receipt and certainly would not think of returning hair care utensils. I do know this, however: I will NEVER order any Andis products again.

I think the first reviewer is confused. In 2 places on the box it says there are 2 settings: but there are are actually 4: 1) High hot (good for the first 20 minutes); 2)low hot (good for the next 10 minutes then 3)cool (a. high or b. low) for the final finishing. There is a DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE between high and low hot settings unlike other dryers that have 2 hot settings but are equally hot. This is a well-engineered dryer.

I purchased this dryer last week and used it Sunday, Nov. 25th on my recently colored hair my hair (thick and shoulder length) and scalp never looked (or felt) better. as for its features:

First the motor is powerful without generating a lot of extra heat

Second the hood is ROOMY and COMFORTABLE and accommodates the largest of rollers

Third this is the most important this dryer does not create uncomfortable hot spots which burn your scalp.

Finally the case is well made, stylish and a joy to use ( I LOVE the color) everything cools off quickly and can be replaced without bulging or popping out of their original storage places.

An excellent dryer for the money. I strongly recommend it. I just noticed the other 2 types of dryers and may buy one of those as a back-up.

When I first opened this bonnet I was NOT impressed. I actually wanted to return it, but the returning process seemed like more hassle than it was worth. So I decided just to try it out and if I really didn't like it I could sell it.

I'm SO glad I gave it a chance.

What turned me off was the bonnet: it seemed too big for my main purposes of usage (as a deep conditioner heat tool). It is perfect for ladies who do rollersets or the like, but I'm not there in the hair game yet lol.

So I put on my DC, a shower cap, and hooked up the machine. It comes just as the stock photos picture. It is very simple to set up and use, takes seconds.

Settings: High/Low, Cool/Hot. I used it on High/Hot. It wasn't very hot to me and I thought it was lacking until I finished the DC session. When I took the bonnet off, my shower cap was holing on to so much heat!!! It took about 10 minutes for the shower cap to cool off (I was testing to see). That was impressive to me. When I took the shower cap off, my hair was so soft and wavy. When I rinsed, my hair was like butter!!!

I used it in this process for two DC sessions (one 30 min protein treatment before the wash, one 30 min moisturizing treatment after the wash). Both sessions with the bonnet were a success, and I am sold. I will try it with rollers next when I try my first rollerset.

Some things to keep in mind:

I use a shirt or towel on my neck. The heat bears down on my neck, ears, and eyes. It doesnt bother my ears and eyes, though.

The bonnet is kind of awkward at first. I had to play around with it for a minute to get comfortable. I use the strings to fasten it under my chin. It works best that way for ME.

My fist day I used it for 1 hour total. It is built well and I can tell will be able to handle plenty more sessions. It is made of high grade plastics. I placed it on a chair and sat in my gaming chair while on my laptop.

I would recommend this item. I love that it is compact, heats very well, is attractive, and helped me improve my dc sessions.

I put this dryer through it's paces and found it to be more than efficient. I would have given it a five but it said there were three settings when there were only two. Other than that it dried my head full of curly hair quickly after my first Curlformers attempt and I loved the results. After almost fifteen years with natural hair I'm finally exploring styles other than a "press" or curly fro or ponytail. I have VERY curly hair (corkscrew) and for ages I have been looking for a conditioner that would make it softer. I recently purchased the Helen of Troy Chrome 1875 Watt Professional Hair Dryer #6037, as I had gone through a number of other brand hair dryers of recent and never owned a Helen of Troy product. I had heard something to the effect through the years that these hair dryers hold up real well and can truly be considered to be a professional's choice. So with this in mind, I went ahead with my purchase. I received the hair dryer very quickly and from the several times I have used it already, I am very impressed. It is a good looking dryer and it seems to fit the hand very comfortably with its special grip handle. There is lot of blowing power behind this dryer and it does a fine job completely blowing my hard to dry hair in a timely yet gentle manner. I am so far so impressed with this hair dryer that I am also seriously considering purchasing a Helen of Troy travel style model. There is also a cold shot button which really aids to setting any curl or waves you may want to place in your hair. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an excellent quality hair dryer at a somewhat reasonable price!

I am not a weakling, but my arms get really tired when I'm using this dryer. It also runs a bit hot, which is bad for your hair. I'll be giving this to Goodwill and getting a better one.

First let me say, they don't make 'em like they used to, but this is a pretty good one. I had an 80's era, monster Con-air blow dryer that I received for my birthday...30+ years ago. I loved that thing! It finally died right at the 30 year mark and my replacement nightmare began. So I bought a Vidal Sassoon that lasted me almost 3 years before quitting. No love lost though. It was mediocre and way under powered. This time I tried a little Con-air portable that sounded like it was breaking every time you folded/un-folded the handle. You could hardly tell it was blowing when it was on high and there was almost no heat. I am a lady with a super-short boy cut. After 5 minutes, my hair was still wet. That one went back.

After reading reviews on several blow dryers here on Amazon, it seems the under-powered problem abounds everywhere nowadays. So I was pleased to read several reviews that stated the Helen of Troy dryers did the job quickly and efficiently. I paid a little more than half price for an open-box item and it is a great little blow dryer. As a couple of others noted, the concentrator attachment doesn't fit snuggly and doesn't stay on very well, which is most likely why the one I purchased was returned. It's still not 80's, big-hair wonderful, but it's still pretty good.

i heard a lot of good things about this hair dryer from my friends, well... it drys my hair, it's not overheating it.

it's a little too heavy ( so if you have a long hair) it makes it little more difficult for you to do any hairstyling.
