I have had this hair dryer for about 3 years. I'm extreamlely pleased with it.

Pros:

-Super light weight it's so light that when I switch over to a regular size, my arms ache

-Powerful & hot for size, no other small hair dryer has ever made it past a 4 month mark without the motor burning out on my long and very thick hair.

-Great 4 year warranty at about the 2 year mark the plastic on/off switch broke off on the inside. It is something I could have fixed myself with some superglue, but instead called it in where I purchased it, and for shipping (I think like $7) I got a new one.

dual voltage works perfectly. I've used it in US, Mexico, Austrailia 220V, and New Zealand 220V with zero problems, zero smell, zero smoking worked perfectly normal every where.

Cons:

-The tourmaline thing I can't tell a difference. It's not really a con, but it's not really a selling point either.

-Compare to a full size 1800 watt hot tools indestructable, Tim Taylor Tool Time special (dating myself here)...sure this won't feel as powerful. But for it's size, it is strong, and the air is hot. It's hotter than any travel size dryer I've tested. I always compare it to those hotel ones, and none have ever been hotter or had as much air flow as this one. So for the size, I do feel this is king of the category. It's good enough that I use it full time. I have my jumbo, wind tunnel creator saved as a back up.

I love this hair dryer and and am somewhat surpised by the average rating. Sure it will not replace the best of the full size dryers out there, but it's real close, and I have very thick, shoulder blade long hair. So it doesn't matter what blow dryer I use, it takes me a long time to blow dry, and I hate spending time on hair, yet this is so comfortable to hold and work with, I'm wiling to take another 5 min over my jumbo dryer to get the job done. I did mention the breakage issue I had, but it doesn't phase me. I've NEVER had a small size one last like this one. In fact ever small one I've used has burnt out because it takes so long to dry my hair.

I traveled via backback (a small book bag size one) for three weeks in New Zealand with this blow dryer. It rocked! For that trip alone I was so pleased to have purchased it. It was a cold, rainy trip and I was so happy to not walk around with wet hair. It was so small and added no weight to my backback.

For a travel size hair dryer I really doubt you can do better and give it 5 stars for that, for a full time hair dryer -well it would be nice if it dried as fast as an 1800w full size, so I give it 4 stars for being darn close. So ave: 4.5 stars for me

This dryer truly is super light...drying my hair is effortless. The dryer comes with a diffuser that eliminates frizz for my curly hair and it dries quickly on the low setting. Well worth the money.

I'm surprised on how sturdy and powerful this dryer is. (I didn't expect such great performance from this dryer.) Very light, folds in a snap, wonderful for travel.

The reviewer that mentioned they were unhappy with this dryer, I'm not sure whomever the shipper was if they were selling an authentic product because authentic products do not have typos (maybe that's why there were problems).

My husband and I have been very happy with this dryer and have had this dryer for over a year. Still works great.

Honest reviews on X5 Superlite 1600W Dual Voltage Ceramic-Ionic Travel Dryer

I got this travel dryer in July, 2009, and have used it for about 25 days so far, when traveling. I was skeptical about spending this much money, but this is a terrific little hair dryer. It is very lightweight, with a folding handle, and about half the size of a traditional salon dryer. I have shoulder length, straight, fine hair, and must have the air concentrator on the end or my hair will blow everywhere and snarl. Cheapo travel dryers from *Mart had concentrator tips that would fall off once heated. Not the X5! It's permanently attached. Also, the concentrator is the only part of the exterior to get hot, yet the dryer produces a lot of heat for such a tiny machine. Very good noise levels, too. I'm extremely impressed with the design of this dryer, and very pleased with the performance.

This is a nice ligfhtweight hair dryer. The air flow is slightly less than 1875 watt comparable ones but it dries the hair quicker because of the Tourmaline feature. I rate this 5 stars.
