I've usually opted to buy the less-expensive curling irons, and I've found that they last only about a year or so before something (usually the spring) breaks. This time, I decided to spend a little more money and try the Solano curling iron. Since no one had reviewed this product before, I read reviews of the curling iron on other websites and was impressed by the positive feedback it had received. I chose this product because (1) it uses ceramic tourlamine heating technology (which is recommended by a lot of hair experts because it evenly distributes the heat), (2) it has an auto-off feature (I've occasionally forgotten to turn off my curling iron in the past), and (3) the heat setting is adjustable. Also, I didn't read any complaints about ceramic on this curling iron flaking off or people getting their fingers burned on the end of the barrel, which I liked.
I purchased the 1-inch barrel version of this, and since I started using it, my hair hasn't gotten snagged on the barrel and the curling iron has been comfortable to hold and use with either arm. This curling iron seems durable and well-made. I have fine, thin hair, and curling my hair at a lower temperature using this curling iron certainly seems to help eliminate split ends and flyaway hair issues. My hair has been easy to curl and seems to have more body, which is great! Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to other people. It's worth spending a little more money to get something that will work well and last.

I'm a stylist and thought this iron would be a good investment being Solano and a bit more expensive. It is very nice and heats up fast. However it is really heavy which is a major downfall when doing hair all day. Also it has a little resting nub on the top of the iron that I find gets caught on the hair when releasing a curl. I had been looking around for a decent priced, quality curling iron that is less damaging to my hair. There were only two reviews on Amazon of this particular product, one by a hairdresser, and based on those two I felt it was worth purchasing. I like the fact that I can change the temperature to achieve different curls; the higher the temperature the stronger the hold is of the curl. I do find that the buttons to change the temperature are somewhat easy to accidentally hit, but to me, it is not something I really feel is much to be upset about. I have only used it twice, as I just received it, so I may be able to learn to avoid the buttons by familiarizing myself with it. I am thrilled to have this size barrel iron; it is the exact size curl that I had hoped to achieve.In the box is a warranty slip that I can send in, or create an account online to put it under warranty, but even after I created the account I have been unable to put my password in to finish registering it. I hope this is a temporary site issue, and I intend on mailing in the warranty.

This is very powerful. It will blow the cobwebs off the ceiling (literally). Would like one speed lower on the blower for styling. Takes a little while to heat up to a decent dry temperature. I always wanted a jprofessional hair dryer like my hairdresser uses, but thought I could not afford it. This is a great buy and it dries my hair quickly and without leaving it fuzzy. It is twice a fast as my old dryer and since I have to straighten my hair after I dry it, it saves me a lot of time. Great buy for the money.

A power bomb that is!. This little dryer is power and heat wrapped in a small package. The dryer is well balanced with the weight in the body of the dryer. I am a nozel holder,so with the weight in the body of the dryer and not in the handle it is very comfortable to use. The dryer is will insulated for heat and noise. This is a gem if you do a lot of Brazilian Blowouts! The parlux 3800 is well worth the price. The only draw back is the cord is a little on the short side for a pro dryer.Not a deal breaker though.
High air flow, low noise, two heat levels and long lasting components.

Good hairdryer. I got tired of purchasing a new Revlon/Conair dryer every year to 18months at my local discount department store. So I bit the bullet and purcahsed a proferssional grade dryer. This is a good dryer, fast, hot, not too heavy. Cut down my drying time at least 5 minutes maybe even 10. But really, too expensive. I will update in a year or sooner if necessary about continued use. I agree with previous comment regarding buttons in a strange area, but after two uses I have learned to compensate and it is not an issue for me. I don't see this in the stores anymore but I am so glad that amazon carries it. This is the best and most natural looking hair lightener I have ever used. It also does not damage my hair like dye and it is permanent! Lightens a little at a time, as you wish. I have used the same hairdresser for 25 years, and asked her early on if the product was safe for hair and not damaging in any way. She said it was just fine. I've used the product since the 70's to keep my hair a little lighter, and have very healthy hair to this day.It also gives your hair just a little more body. Lastly, it might be a personal thing, but this tropical breeze scent that they have come out with is so much better (not as strong smelling) than the lemon scent.

Great stuff!! I use this on my hair for 30 minutes before shhampoo, 2 times a month. Adds body, shine and volume. My hair is not extrememly dry, but this product has worked magic on hair that dried at the scalp during winter months. Also great for dry skin. May seem "greasy" at first but rubs right in and maintains a supple feel.

Well built, looks very nice, and does the job perfectly. I bought for my daughter's black blow dryer by Conair that I bought at Costco a few years back, which has a tapered end. It rests on the RH side of her bathroom sink vanity with the short end of the holder next to the wall, which is open and has the toilet on that side of the sink. It's a great location for my right handed daughter, and the wall outlet is on that side too. The dryer's cord conveniently hangs down the side of the cabinet and is out of sight when you look into the bathroom, and it's out of the way as well. I love the way this worked out, because it minimizes space taken up by the blow dryer, which previously was just left out on the countertop laying on it's side. It is also easier to pick up the dryer to use and easy to replace it when done! I highly recommend if you have this type of bathroom set up. I wish the company made one of these for wider nozzle blow dryers, as the Conair blow dryer I have is like that. I also need a solution for what to do with the cord, as I have a wall on both sides. Mine has a retractable cord, which is a pain to do every day, and having it hang in front of drawers is obnoxious when you want to get into the drawers--maybe some sort of holder like this one with a coordinating hook that you mount on the wall and loop the cord around it? Anyone have a solution for this besides buying a new hairdryer?

Got this hairdryer a few days ago. I had to go with a lower watt dryer otherwise I'd be flipping breakers every 5 minutes. It's very pretty. I dig the red. It took a couple days to get used to holding it as it's a bit bulky. But to be fair my other one had a shorter nozzel and was lighter. The placement of the setting switches is not optimal. I can't easily switch from low to high and back to low without looking at what I'm doing. And the hot setting is not very hot. Which, I guess, my hair is thankful for. But boy does she have great blowing power! It's like being in a wind tunnel. My hair dries in half the time now which is great! I have used both attachments that came along with it too. I was afraid due to the force of the blowing it would blow those little gadgets right off and smack me upside the head but they stayed put. The blow dryer is a little louder than I am used to but not a big deal.
Overall, I am pleased with the product. I can overcome the negatives. Hope it lasts!

REVIEW EDITED SEPT 2013 = And there she blows...out! The heating element died already. I am very disappointed this hairdryer did not last as long as I expected it to. I understand....you get what you pay for....but it should have been longer than this. And I do not have long thick hair to where I am using and abusing the hairdryer. My hair is medium length and fine. It didn't have to work that hard! I'm disappointed today and back on Amazon to shop for yet another hairdryer.

I needed a 1600W hair dryer to prevent my GFCI from tripping. There are NO dryers under 1800W at a retail store anywhere near me...I know, I've looked. I should have shopped Amazon first and saved some shoe leather. That being said, this hair dryer is exectly what I was looking for. I have short, chin-length hair that can really suffer in humidity, and I'm a believer in the benefits of tourmaline/ionic/ceramic to make my hair shiny and dry faster. This item absolutly fills the bill. It's very light weight, although it's a powerful full size hair dryer. I use the concentrator attachment everyday to finish off my style, and I also like the lift that the finger-like attachment gives. It took me a while to get the hang of this attachment, but now I like it better than then traditional diffuser for my curly/wavy hair. The controls are easy to use, one switch for temp, and one for air flow placed side-by-side, rather than one on top of the other. I haven't changed the settings by mistake, and resetting either the temp or air flow takes just the flip of a thumb. One of the best features?? I haven't tripped the GFCI since I've started using it. The reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating is because a "cool-shot" button/option would have really helped...I used that feature all the time on my 1875W hair dryer.
